yaaay... I finally got them to share some healthy 'people' treats with me!

 

they love lettuce, carrots, and plain crackers.... even though they tear them up and throw pieces at eachother more than eat them..... not too fond of the apple or broccoli though but will keep trying.

totally- silly me thought I should be cutting food up into budgie sized bits... but I guess they prefer my- size portions LOL

They have a thing for tearing pieces off and tossing them on the ground to piss off the humans. I fed two budgies about an ounce and a half of blackened catfish tonight. They totally devoured it!! Birds and their affinity for incredibly spicy food... I believe Harrison's makes a pellet with habanero pepper in it.

It's really quite amusing how a bird that won't touch anything at all (except seeds and/or pellets) will quite readily try eating something that it can see another bird enjoying.

hmm I never wouldve thought they like spicy things.... should i try giving them a little onion or pepper? or is that a bad idea? My mom said I should try pieces of tuna and some cooked or dry pasta, but the only thing I have tried are fruits and veggies.

Oh yes they've very fond of black pepper. The aforementioned spicy catfish had a lot of black pepper on it, and while I was making it, he was standing on the counter and took a bite of the pepper I had ground up to put on the fish. It must have been a bit more for him because his very enthusiastic first bite was also his last. :-)

LOL, you pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I was going to reply more or less the same. I just love how they love to put their foot on something and hold it down, like it was something they killed ;-)

I think they love the idea that they can dominate it. There's something very amusing about the concept of a 30 gram creature being dominant over anything. Of course anyone who owns a budgie knows that this is no laughing matter. ;-)

Hee hee! Yeah, they are such bossy little birds. Paullie was so bossy...it's just amazing how much power that little bird had over us :-)
