Another question. We have some natural muesli stuff from Bob's Red Mill, of which the ingredients are as follows:

Rolled oats, wheat, rye, triticale and barley, almonds, dates, raisins, sunflower seeds, and walnuts.

If I cooked this for my budgies, would it be okay for them to eat? I'm trying to find things to feed them other than a seed-only diet. So far, I've got corn and peas that they like, and try to give them that as much as often.

Does anybody have any suggestions of what else is good for birds, and that I can cook up to feed them? They're not too big on raw veggies from what I've tried.

i know any dark green or yellow veggies are good for birds.

and if you want to get away from a seed diet, try converting your littel guys to pellets. it's a whole lot healthier in the long run.

It sounds like it would be ok, provided there's not any added sugar, etc.

my budgies took a while to try veggies, but their favorite now is romaine lettuce. They don't like other fresh things as much, but that one they love. From what I've read in various books, it's ok to put on a little salad dressing. One book I read suggests putting on some salad dressing and tossing the greens with seeds...that way if they want the seeds they have to try the dressing, maybe try the lettuce. Now whenever I put lettuce in their cage, they all come over and eat little holes out of it. Hope this helps.

ever tried grated apple? Digit loves it to bits! He loves it so much, that when i want to take away the leftovers, he tries his hardest to look mean and gives a few hard nibbles on my fingers! %)
