Hey, all. Some of you may remember the "In Dreams" Fanged Four series of drabbles I was working on in May prior to my roadtrip. While I never did get the inspiration I was looking for on the road to compete the Angelus drabble, I didn't want that to stop me from posting the Darla one. This is a rather unusual piece because *gasp* it rhymes! I tried to keep the scheme pretty consistant. Also, I'll be the first one to admit I'm no poet, but I am sort of proud of myself for this one. Enjoy!

We had luck with the weather this morning. They talked for thunderstorms for the weekend but it didn't rain. That was good. I didn't have wanted it to rain. ~ Though maybe somebody thought I needed a lesson... was off-line this afternoon. I guess there was a short electrical power outage because my video recorder was disturbed (the recording) once too. The wireless internet I have now is very lot more delicate (sensitive) then what I had before. Ah well can't help it. I'm back to post this birthday wishes so it's good. Tomorrow another thunderstorm is announced so who knows... having no internet connection without a reason why is scary...

Well David should be here, but time got away from him today, and he is going to be an hour late.

I was having a bit of a look round LJ while I was waiting, and it got me thinking. I wonder that I am really in a fandom anymore, as I am just not as active as I used to be. I haven't really been following any WIP's, not looking at as many manips, not writing as much and all in all not as active in the fandom as when I first started. I guess it might be natual, and I cannot really say that another show, character or actor has taken over. They haven't, it is still James Marsters for me.

I enjoy Supernatural, Torchwood and Dr Who, but really not following it in a big way. I belong to a few communities but not a lot, don't hang out at any messageboards, and cannot say that I am active in them in a big way, so it is not a case that another fandom has taken over. If I am in any fandom it is still the Buffy!Verse. I just don't feel the need to be as active.

The reason for me thinking about this today is I was nominated as a Best Fandom Supporter, and I just wonder how good a supporter I really am now. It was really nice to get the nomination, but feel I don't deserve it like I did when I first started out in the fandom! I did accept, but really feel I have no chance to be honest, and it is understandable!

Edit Bonekickers is just bad! It is not so bad it is good, it is bad!

Okay, so the buying of computer thing is a bit more difficult than in years past, primarily because I was trying to avoid Vista.  But it seems I waited too long to do so.  Anyone have any ideas about:

• If you buy a new computer and want to retrograde to XP, I've been told that there are no longer drivers being made that are compatible with the newest computers.
•  
• Stuck with memory-hog Vista, for how long will the 32-bit operating system be in effect?
•  
• The newest 64-bit Vista allows a laptop to use up to 4 GB of Ram, whereas the 32-bit maxes out at 3 GB.  But I've heard most software isn't compatible with 64-bit yet.
•  
• Does anyone know of a reason to wait a year to buy (beyond the normal increases in performance that always occur)?  I can use my work laptop for a year, but it's nerve wracking to think of having to turn it in for service without being able to erase things if something goes wrong.

So there are my computer conundrums.  I'm tempted to get a 32-bit Vista system with 3 GB of memory on super sale (we're talking $700 if you look around hard for a 320 GB hard drive and a dual Intel processor - dang, that's cheap) and just go for it, letting the next laptop be another upgrade.


This has also taught me to take notes on those little things I do to my computer as I go along.  Such as:

• For Audacity, all I have to do is put the lame dll in the Audacity file to be able to export MP3s?
•  
• Does anyone remember what it was that actually worked to type into Firefox's Ad Block Plus to block those little white boxes from showing up beside links in lj?

I can't describe how good it feels to be in my own home again. My mother is a gracious host and I enjoy going back to the last home that I lived in with her, but I need my own space. I'm sitting at my little desk for my laptop in the corner of the my bedroom with a great view of my shirtless husband who is working on his computer across the way.

It was a bit stressful to keep my five kids under control at grandma's for so long. They are good kids, but dealing with my middle child's special needs and his outbursts, due to the stressful change in living conditions, was just not fun. He was good for the most part, but once he got bored, it was all over. We did spend a lot of time at the pool and I have a great tan now. :) I read three books and watched more TV than is healthy for one person to do. So did my kids. We don't watch TV at our own house, so they were like little sponges, soaking up all the bad attitudes from Disney/Nick sitcoms and watching shows about police chases and dumb criminals.

I also got a lot of writing done and some outlining and plans for future chapters of my original stories. That just tells me that I need to take full days where I do not connect my fios internet and just use the laptop to write. But, that won't happen for a few days. I'm so glad to be online again. I will try to answer all the lovely comments that I received after my last post. It's so wonderful to know that I have such caring online friends.

My husband was able to replace a bunch of electrical stuff and get things going again, here. There isn't much visible damage to the house and for that, I'm grateful. We also replaced our smoke detectors. Not that they needed it, but it was for my piece of mind.

While I was away, I got a few emails asking when I was going to update In Harm's Way. Those people obviously don't have LJ. :) Also had someone asking about that third installment to my vamp!buffy verse, which really needs a name. And really, it would be the fourth installment, if you count Torch/Andra's story. I do have plans/ideas for the next installment, but I try to work on one fan fic project at a time, so I don't neglect my original work.

I tried to go through my flist, but there was just too much of it. If I missed something pressing, please email me or let me know.

Today is just an icon day. I have 24 icons from when James Marsters was on Saving Grace. I kind of like these because some look over exposed, not in the way you're thinking. Like in a camera sort of way. I don't know, I always found over exposure artistic. Anyway, these aren't bases. Comments are nice and credit is love.
