I've been working with nine other writers over the past few months to put together a round robin fic about the BSC members' memorable high school moments. See the finished product here:

Yes I know no one has posted in forever but...
I've begun work on a parody of a little sister book. Right down to the strange grammar missing contractions style and short chapters that a real little sister book would have. Only it's slightly snarkier in tone. The story is called "Karen's Shoplifting Trip" and revolves around Karen wanting some overpriced things, her parents telling her no and Karen turning to an alternative method to get them. Story is here:
    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3529164/1/

Anyone have any constructive criticism and ways I could improve it? It's not meant to be a literary work of art. It's really more for fun.

And anyone have any ideas in case I write a sequel? As long as it's not something like Karen's Crack Pipe I'll consider it.

    BSC Postcardathon
Thanks to everyone who participated in the first BSC Postcardathon! The turnout wasn't huge, but everyone got a card, and I appreciate that you all followed through.

In case anyone's curious, here are all the cards, either scanned or transcripted. Size and quality of scans tend to vary; if you have trouble reading one, let me know and I'll transcribe it.

Feel free to comment on any of them and introduce yourself to the person you sent one to - though, as I've discovered, this fandom is small enough that a lot of these were figured out beforehand.

For Balletprincess - Tiffany to Shannon )

For Caf - Mary Anne to Cokie )

For Celeria - Mary Anne to Stacey, Mallory to Dawn (Dawn/Stacey) )

    BSC Postcardathon
Based heavily on [info]isiscolo's Potterverse Postcardathon, this (and I quote from her; she puts it much better than I could) "is a special kind of ficathon where participants send each other in-character postcards. In other words, instead of sending a third-person story about a character, you're actually sending a postcard from one character (or couple) to another."

With this one, though, we're going a step further: there's a theme, and it's Happy Holidays! Your character is away from another for the winter holidays, and so she/he writes a postcard about...

Examples: Stacey writes to Claudia from NYC during Christmas. Jessi wishes Quint a happy Kwanzaa. Jeff Schafer brags to Byron about the 80 degree California New Years Eve. Patrick drops Kristy a line for once.

Intrigued? Let's see some more detail.

    Rules and Notes )

Want to sign up? Comment using this template. (Comments will be screened.)

    Needed info )

TIP: Be creative! Yearning for that Logan/Mary Anne, just like everyone else? Spice it up with a unique scenario. (Example - Mary Anne's postcard Dear John letter to Logan.)

If something isn't clear, please ask your question in a separate comment from your sign-up, since my reply will unscreen your comment.

If you sign up, you are committing to participate. I will post the names of people who did not let me know ahead of time that they weren't sending a card. If you must drop out, contact me as soon as possible so I can arrange a new assignment.

    Welcome!
Ah, the creation post. This is always so awkward.

Essentially, the reason this community exists is because I felt bad for the het and gen-writers. Baby-Sitters Club writers have ample places to post their slash here on LJ, but exactly zero for all other genres. Now, I love slash as much as the next fic-reader, but, I mean, let's face it: sometimes we just need a really sweet Kristy/Bart. Mary Anne/Cary. Janine/Charlie. You get the drill.

But then, should we ignore slash? We'd be deluding ourselves if we ignored the horde of Stacey/Claudia fic out there. BSC, with eight female (often very affectionate) lead characters, is a fandom that slides often seamlessly into femmeslash. Despite a lack of male leads, there have even been male/male slash fics, possibly the first being Logan/Bart.

So forget being exclusive! This community is for all fans of the BSC, and all readers and writers of related fanfiction.

Note - this space is for FANFICTION ONLY. Meaning, no discussion, and no intro posts, please. If and when contests and challenges pop up, this may change, but for the moment, this should be the last non-fanfiction post you read here.

Anyway. So have fun, read the rules (look at the info page), review if you possibly can, and fill the void of so many years without a monthly adventure from our favorite pubescent girls.

Hey, Ann M. Martin had ghostwriters helping her with the series. Consider this just following the tradition.
