Bus fares up.
In case you didn't know, tickets are going up in price in the new year, £1.40 for a maximum fare ticket, £1 for short hop.

People are pissed, moaning that it's way above inflation and that the service is still gonna remain at the same level (shitty and late in my experience).

Oh well. I suppose it's still lower than everywhere else.

I just wish we had something like Oystercard for public transport. Would make life so much easier.

bus fares seem to go up all the time now. i remember when 80p was max fare... and it wasn't too long ago.

thankfully, daysavers and such have been frozen, which is better news since TWM so poorly serves the area that i usually have to get half a dozen buses for a round trip!

Doesn't it make you feel really old moaning about bus fares? :)

oh always! i miss the knackered fleet of 126s (my bus of necessity). there was nothing quite like their smell, their brown floral pattern on the backs of the seats and the pools of water sloshing around the floor of the top deck! it's still as unreliable as ever though.

Oh for crying out loud. It only went up from £1.10 to £1.20 six months ago. My main quibble is that the punctuality of the service is incredibly erratic - I once got to the bus stop in Moseley at 8.10 to get an 8.50 train at New Street and had to wait 20 minutes for a bus (the service is supposed to be every five minutes), which caused me to miss the train by seconds.

Don't worry though, we won't have to rely on the bus in the future because the council's space-age future plans for Birmingham public transport are... to extend the Metro from Snow Hill to Five Ways. Whoopee.

Don't worry, though! We have tellies on some buses now!

I wouldn't mind if, as you say, the punctuality was worked on a bit. Wouldn't mind having the bus stop back on my road. It vanished ages ago and we've still not got a replacement.

Yeah I love their novel approach to anagrams, ie take a word and swap the first and last letters.

The buses are shit.

Hello I'm new. :)

I remember paying 16p to get to school (um and I'm not a pensioner either)
I'm just glad I rarely have to get buses anymore cos that's a rip off.
An aside point: how come bus passes in the black country are cheaper but fares are the same?

My GOD. £1 used to be the max fare! Not the short hop!

I remember paying 27p to get from school to Kings Heath.

Jesus christ. If the buses were all AMAZING and came on TIME and were generally GOOD I wouldn't have an issue.

I sometimes travel in Worcester on the buses. Trips of only a mile or two are £1.60, with a return of £1.80.....Considering I can get from Worcester to Birmingham for £2.80 on the buses, this is mad.

People are pissed

Perhaps it's the cost of having to deal with drunken passengers that's driving up prices!

I know what I'd rather spend my £1.40 on.
