Hello. I am Cat, love Bronski and Bernstein, and was a member of a ProBoards group and MSN group. The Proboards we haven't posted on in ages, and MSN moved the group though I can't remember the link (MrsBronski, is that you?) so now I'm hear and happy with other fans.
I have also written Bronski and Bernstein fics, which I will have to post here :D |

Hi, thought you guys would like to know that Matthias Schloo is now starring in another police show set in Hamburg, except he now has a short haircut and uniform! It's called Notruf Hafenkante and you can watch the latest episode here. It can be viewed outside Germany as I'm watching happily watching it here in Australia :) |

The Yuletide fic exchange is coming up again and sign-ups are currently open. It's a secret santa exchange of fic, focusing on rare fandoms. Bronski und Bernstein is on the list of requested/offered fandoms but there has only been 1 of each. You can't guarantee that you will get the boys but more fic can't be a bad thing.

So, I'm joining the list of people who've absolutely adored Bronski & Bernstein for years, but for some reason never thought to look for an LJ comm before now.
I don't remember what it was, but the other day something made me think of Bronski & Bernstein, and I just got this urge to see it again, or at the very least to read some fic for it (this happens occasionally, these urges. Comes of B&B still being one of the cutest, funnest things I've ever seen, I suppose), and after a bit of a poke around, I stumbled across this comm. I'm so sad to have missed all the squee from back when it was still on, but love that I'm not the only one who loved them so much then that she's still a bit obsessed now. :D
No one I know has ever even heard of them before. I thought it was just me, the little old lady who rang in to Hotline when the series finished airing, and presumably a couple of people in Germany who were fans. So a very big Hiiiiiiiiiii to all of you! It's wonderful to met some kindred, B&B loving spirits! ♥ ♥ ♥
... Here's the thing though. I hate to ask this, as it's probably a bit rude of me to barge in making requests considering I've not spoken to any of you before, but, well, after so many years and so little hope of ever seeing a DVD release (and with German iTunes not working in Australia and my spoken German not being good enough to follow anything if it did (although, I must say I am very proud of my pronounciation. My German accent seems to have been quite heavily influenced by Bernstein, somehow)), I just feel that I have to ask:
I don't suppose anyone has a spare copy of the series on DVD or VHS that they would be willing to send to Sydney? Or upload to youtube, maybe? I'm more than happy to pay for postage, and would, of course, be enamoured of and indebted to you forever after. I have all these little memories of it that are fading and not enough, and I'd just so love to see it again, and, possibly, even have go at writing fic for it if anyone's interested in reading it. |

Hi! Just stumbled over this community and had a fit of glee.
I'm a huge fangirl from Germany and I actually didn't know until a couple of weeks ago that our darlings were aired in Australia. Never would have expected it to have its own livejournal community either (which probably is why stupid me never bothered to search...)
I've also seen the recent post and I'm not sure if this helps but there are no VHS/DVD over here in Germany either. What we do have, however, is iTunes. German!iTunes apparently worked with the ARD (the broadcast station that produced and first aired it) and you can download the season there. I'm a complete iTunes noob, though, so I don't know if it has country/state regulations or anything but maybe that helps?

Hiya everybody!
I really love Bronski and Bernstein in the totally epic!love of a fangirl way...
However, I cannot feed this infatuation as the station that was broadcasting the episodes replaced them with Kommissar Rex due to public opinion. xc [not that I don't like Rex, it's just that now he's taken over B&B AND Don Matteo XC ]
I live in Australia, and it seems to be nigh impossible to get hold of B&B dvd's. I've been in Borders, Dymocks, Angus & Robertson, Kinokuniya - I've even tried Amazon, but I couldn't find them.
Is anyone able to direct me to an outlet that should stock B&B, or does anyone know where I can get my hands on some online?
Your help would be much appreciated!

I emailed SBS to ask them about re-airing B&B, they sent me a message back! :)
Unfortunately, it's not good news:
"Dear [ME! XD],
Unfortunately, we no longer own the rights to repeat this series. We contracted it for two screenings only and it is unlikely that we will repurchase the rights to show it again."

Rewatching B&B with (more than slightly) nefarious purposes in mind, and I'm struck with the fact that I spend most of my time entranced and *smiling*.
My God this series is *fun*. OK, you'd think that goes without saying, but still. I'm hard pressed to think of anything I watch regularly - among more than a few fandoms, some of which I would consider lifelong & diehard - that leaves me this damn *cheerful*.

Hey folks ... I just had to post here. I just saw, for the first time since 1999, an episode of Bronski and Bernstein! *squees* OMG it ... IT was really funny because I still had a very clear image of Matthias Schloo in my head (love the guy a lot, and saw him in Berlin, Berlin often enough to remember him) and I even remembered their boss clearly (he's a well known German actor) but Bernstein?! When I first heard his voice again I was like ... "FTW!!!!!!"
OK, so this entry is jumpy and has no reason at all except to fangirl over those two hotties.
So, back in 1999 (wehn I was what? 11?) I loved Bronski with a passion. I mean, for an 11 year old he's just perfect (well, not that I would kick him of my bedside now ..) whereas Bernstein ... I did not get the guy. Well, that was my 11 year old self. Now I'm nearly 20 and ... GOSH IS HE SEXY! And now I can't decide because they both are ... too wonderful for words!
I SO can not WAIT for next week! |
