BRODY BIO: Brody Dalle is the lead singer and guitarist for the band The Distillers. She grew up in Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia. Her early days were filled with rage and hate which is where a lot of inspiration for her music is. Brody's mother kicked out Brody's biological father when she was still a young girl. Her mother then remarried and had a second child. Brody felt like the outsider and took to the streets, turning her back on her home. Around age 13, her and her mothers relationship came to a boiling point. Both hated each other so badly that they strangled each other in their kitchen. Brody started cutting, doing drugs, and skipping school.
At age 15 she was kicked out of the public school and sent to an all-girls Catholic school.
Brody found a release for her outrage upon hearing the punk rock band Discharge. Its angry, screaming, sound was what she felt and desperately wanted to say.
She soon formed her own band, Sourpuss, which got the chance to play Australia's Somersault Festival where she met her future husband, Tim Armstrong, of Rancid but recently got divorced.
Once Brody turned 18 she moved to L.A. to be with Tim and start a new band.
Unlike many punk rock bands of today, their sound is all their own, and no song can be mistaken for any other. Brody has made peace with her family, herself and she's overcome her vicious past. She changed her last name to Dalle. She has band mates that are in it for the long run and is a raw force to deal with.
