11:07 am - Bridal SOS!
|

lessalweds
|
I hope this Post is allowed as I realise it is somewhat scatty and unfocused (which, you'll see as you read, is the issue!).
My problem is this;
I'm currently training to be a Paramedic, I started off volunteering about 6 months ago and since then my entire life has been this huge whirlwind of exams, lectures, rig-shifts (ambulance shifts) and medic duties. I work full time, do overnight 12 hour rig-shifts and it seems like almost every hour of my life is filled with this stuff. I love it but it is my entire life at the moment.
My Wedding is on the 27th March 2009 and I have two of the biggest exams of my life right before and right after the big day. The exams that I'm doing are brand new, trial exams, they've never been done before and I was shortlisted to be in the first group to do them. It's a lot of pressure and a huge deal; I beat out over 300 people to get a place on the courses and CANNOT fail. If I postpone them I lose my place on the course and will have to wait TWO YEARS to be able to reapply. Not to mention the number of people I'd be letting down.
So, as you can see, I have the biggest opportunity of my life right smack in the middle of the biggest DAY of my life!
I'll be completely honest with you - I'm drowning. I am rapidly approaching D-Day and have lost ALL grip on everything. I'm desperate for some help and guidance please!
I've sorted (at least in part):- - My dress
- My BM's dresses
- The Reception Venue
- The Church
- Flowers
AND THAT'S IT!
I know lots of you will be horrified at this and it probably comes across as apathy, I can assure you all I love The Boy deeply and cannot wait to be his Wife but I am floundering!
I do have some people who can help but I've got to the point where the "big picture" i.e. all I've got to sort out/do is scaring the heck out of me and I can't see past the immensity of it all to focus on manageable chunks.
Can any of you help in anyway? I'd be SO grateful for anything, ideas, hints, lists, tips, anything you can think of to help me break down what I've got to do, delegate etc, etc.
Obviously I'll accept the unwritten but completely valid "Why the heck didn't you get all this sorted before you daft woman" comments ;-) I just HAD the time and then all of a sudden DIDN'T! Just call me Ostrich-Girl! ;-)
Thank you all SO, SO much in advance.
Lessal x
P.S. x-posted everywhere, sorry

so far wedding planning has not been fun at all....
right off the bat I had a bridemaid quit on me. Then I had to get rid of one a few months ago because she went crazy...
now i have 2 bridemaids and no time to get matching dresses so we had to semi match... (no one threw me a bridal party or bachlorette party, i even hinted i wanted one, but they are really busy and no one could throw me one :(
I had a job I loved but I walked in to work last week and they did away with my position, So one week before wedding I am now stressed about my wedding and my job i dont have.
Then today I go to get my wedding ring my little heart was set on and they forgot to order the ring... But they told me It would be in around 6 weeks from today (my wedding is august 23rd) So Im driving home and my breaks quit working so I have a car that brakes suck, no ring... and fiance who has to listen to me bitch about my job situtation and looking forward to my outdoor wedding, I see aug 22nd-24th its going to rain.
What a miserable week, I cant even enjoy the wedding planning or last week before my wedding because of my job and now I dont have a ring, my car crapped out
atleast I still have my fiance ::knocks on alot of wood:: (you can view our wedding site at www.jeremyandegypt.us

9:21 pm - BULGING BRIDEZILLA

Since I got engaged and started wedding planning, I also took a new job which instead of running in circles all day waitressing, I now sit on my butt all day at work.... I work in a cubical that is 4 feet by 10 feet (think a tiny jail cell) I sit there from 8am-4pm everyday...
Then I get off work, do my shopping head home, let my pug out to potty then do dishes, eat then go to bed...
Unfort... I ordered my wedding dress 6 months ago or so, and seems ive become quite the pudgy thing... I went from 135 to 153 pounds... so I put my dress on and yup it didnt fit... I cant get a new size it takes forever to get them in and with it having so much bead work and detailing there is not really a way to make it bigger.
I dont really know what to do to lose weight, the gyms are expensive and really busy.... and im really not a motivated person to work out... I have bad knees and a misformed spine so working out usually causes more pain then anything...
Any advice on exersize I could do to tighten my tummy and arms :( Im so stressed ive been swimmming alot but the scale keeps going higher and higher. I didnt know if any of you guys might have a wonderful work out to help me

FH and I took this community's advice and went to his childhood church together for evening mass on Saturday. I loved it! It was so beautiful, the priest was amazing, the sanctuary was this gorgeous all white and had big open windows on the "cross" (the head and arms of the cross, sorry lack of intelligent descriptive word). It was amazing and perfect for the night time wedding that we want! If it's a clear night we'll be able to see the stars, and if it's snowing - which would be fabulous - we would be able to see the snowflakes!
We asked the priest if we could set up a time to speak with him about getting married and he informed us that he actually had time right after mass if we had time. We did, so we shipped our kiddo out the door with Grandma and Grandpa and went to talk to the priest. He was so down to earth and easy going. I instantly clicked with him. We did the questioning and intentions and he got reacquainted with David and got to know a little bit about my background.
And then we started talking about dates, we told him we wanted a November wedding and his face kinda cringed and he told us that all of the Friday and Saturdays in November were booked! I thought this was suppose to be the off season but evidently it's the new June lol. And then he looked again, and he was like wait, we do have a Friday open because the couple just cancelled! SWEET! I mean I hope the couple is okay, but now we have a wedding date! November 21, 2008.
We were even able to do our FOCCUS questions and more information about engagement encounter that evening. He was such a lovely man and so accommodating Just had to share. Happy planning to all!

4:48 pm - Date change.
|

Hi, ladies. The fiance and I had to make some changes in our September 20, 2008 wedding...thanks to Iraq. Our wedding will now be held on August 16, 2008. The FH got word that he is "most likely" going. If his name were to show up on the "to go" list in the next couple of months, the latest he'd be going would be mid-September, meaning they could literally snatch him a week before the wedding. Instead of taking chances, we decided to play it safer and move the big day up a month. So, some questions:
Any date twins? :) I was scared our venue wouldn't have the date open, but they did, thank God, and so did our other vendors. Hooray!
The FH said it'd probably be best, since we already mailed save-the-dates, to just type up a letter and mail it to everyone, and of course word of mouth. Any other ideas? I guess that'd be the simplest way, other than our website as well, but that could only do so much.
Also, The Knot says I should be buying invitations now. How early did you purchase your invitations? (and did you assemble them, or were they already put together?)
Just posting a quick update to let everyone know and see who else had the same date. Five months to go! :)

I was very happy to find this community, as I am in the midst of wedding planning and could use some friendly advice along the way.
( How we met, for those who care to know... )
We're getting married October 13th of this year, and I couldn't be more excited! Hopefully I can get some help from this community along the way, and possibly give some tips as well.

3:48 pm - Wedding planner question
|

harlequinnaide
|
I hope this is allowed :) If not, do you know a community I can go to for this?
I'm looking to become a wedding planner and am looking to take online courses but have so many choices! I don't know which online courses are the best and what else I should be doing to start down that career path.
I've been involved in 4 weddings in the past year (bridesmaid/groomsmaid/coordinator) and it's something I really enjoy doing and I want to know where to begin to get my foot in the door.
Thanks!

Hey all! My fiance and I are currently planning a beach wedding in Treasure Island, Florida for May 31, 08. We are inviting about 30 people to the ceremony and will be having a reception in NJ (where we live) some time the following June with about 150 people. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

about how much is everyone spending on wedding cakes...
(...and I'm not really talking about doing it yourself or getting a price cut because a family member is doing it. I'm just mostly concerned about pricing through a legit baker with no connections with.
