It frustrated and scared him at the same time. He didn’t know what to say to Curt that wouldn’t cause his lover more pain and he floundered helplessly.
“Dammit Brian doesn’t what I feel mean anything to you?” Curt burst out frustrated at his inability to pierce the wall Brian had erected seemingly over night.
Brian looked at Curt for the longest time, pain spreading like a cancer through his chest. “No.” he lied
Curt stared at Brian in hurt silence unable to understand where this was coming from.
Brian stood slowly trying his best to not let Curt see what this was costing him but he must have failed somewhere because suddenly Curt was in front of him and not letting Brian walk away.
“Why are you throwing me away?” Curt whispered his pain evident in every word.
Brain stared at him for the longest time so terribly afraid to let himself take what Curt had been desperately trying to give him for months. Brian didn’t know if he was strong enough to look after Curt's love “I’m scared.” He finally admitted, just above a whisper.
Curt’s eyes softened a little. “Of what?”
“That……if……that if I love you I’ll loose myself in you like I did Maxwell Demon……” Brian said in a rush, looking at the floor.
Curt lifted his hand and tilted Brian’s face up until he was looking at him. Not speaking until he had Brian’s complete attention.
“Brian I love you so much most days I don’t know where I end and you begin.”
Brian opened his mouth twice before a reply finally emerged. “And you’re not scared?” He whispered, clearly incredulous.
“Terrified.” Curt confirmed.
“But how can you live like that?” Brian demanded
“I dunno I just do. I can’t not love you Brian, it doesn’t work that way.” Curt’s hand under Brian’s chin moved around to cup his face.
Brian leaned into the caress closing his eyes. “I don’t know if I can do it. What if I fail?” He said slowly, eventually opening those blue eyes to gaze at Curt.
“How can you fail if you don’t even try?”
Brian conceded the logic but the fear of letting go enough to love Curt was strong and he just didn’t know if he had the energy to fight it any more. “I’m not as strong as you.” he said, tears running silently down his face.
“Yes you are.” Curt insisted trying to think of a way to get through Brian’s fear and he was beginning to feel very worried that he couldn’t.
How could Brian be scared of this when it felt so damn right?
They were one half of each other and he was going to let it go. Just throw away what they had because he couldn’t let his go of the fear he was creating himself. Curt wanted to scream or beat his head against the wall Brian was erecting faster than Curt could knock it down but he knew it wouldn’t do any good.
“I love you Brian, and I probably always will but I can’t help you if you won’t let me.” Curt said past the lump in his throat.
Suddenly Brian looked directly at Curt, his blue eyes pools of tears. “I……..help me, please.” He begged in a ragged whisper
Curt wrapped his arms around Brian, holding him tightly, surprised to find his lover was trembling.
“I don’t want to loose you.” Brain whispered into Curt’s neck. He held onto Curt tightly, his fists in Curt’s shirt. “I just don’t know how to keep you.”
Curt felt tears in his eyes.
He didn’t know if he could survive loosing Brian but he wasn’t giving in to Brian’s fear so that meant he was damn well going to try and keep them together. They had no-one else now but each other and if it took a lifetime for Curt to convince Brian what they had was worth fighting for then he would. He just didn’t know where to start.

Title: Burn Up and Die
Author: xr8fordgirl
Rating: PG-13 probably 'cause of the language.
Summary: Brian finally contacts Curt after the DOG concert and two years of silence by writing him a song
Warning: Um lots of angst
Disclaimer: Sadly the boys aren't mine cos they would have ended happily *scowls at Todd*

This fic was started one night after I'd spent 4 hours in the emergency department with my youngest little man who'd broken both bones in his arm. I was exhausted and constantly on verge of tears and still had another 3 hours to go before he got admitted to the childrens ward and a song by Stereophonics chose that moment to pop into my head with my muse, who I could gleefully strangle sometimes, so I started writing this fic as a way to distract myself from feeling like the worst mother on the planet.

Anywho the upshot of that ramble is if anyone want's the song to listen to (since the whole fic is based around it) give me a yell and I'll happily email you the mp3.

So this was the price Brian was to pay for going to see Curt perform. He knew it was a bad idea to go to the Death of Glam concert before he’d even got there but he couldn’t stop himself.
Curt was there.
The compulsion that drove him was beyond his meager control.
He watched Curt from the shadows. Hurting with every word that came from his ex lover’s raw emotions. Hurting as Curt poured his pain into the song Brian had never heard. Begging for love. Begging to be loved.
He hoped it was his love he was begging for. He had so much and it was all Curt’s if he still wanted it.
Through the pain Brian watched Curt writhe on stage in his own.
He hated the audience in that moment.
Hated their greedy, unthinking demands they made of Curt regardless of the pain he was clearly in and for a single heartbeat he almost hated Curt for giving them what they demanded.
His next heartbeat reminded Brian that he could never hate the other half of his own soul. No matter how painful it was to watch Curt he just couldn’t hate him.
He’d fled then, feeling raw and confused.
He knew now that who ever had said that time healed everything was a fucking liar or had never truly loved another person.
Brian didn’t know what to do or what to feel as he stumbled into the nearest taxi, hanging onto what little self-control he had by a thread.
The song he’d started when he let Curt go two years ago re-surfaced in his mind, the words whirled around his head making him dizzy.

“I’m Black and blue from the wind and the rain.”

Brian did everything he could to not break down in the taxi and how he kept it together long enough to throw money at the driver he had no idea but he fled into his house, slamming the door on the taxi driver’s voice calling him back for his change.
Barely inside the closed door the next line of the song came to him and he slid to the floor.

“Said I’m sorry for the lies and the pain…..”

Brian clapped his hand over his mouth and closed his eyes against the flood of pain that threatened to overwhelm him but seeing Curt had been it’s release and there was nothing Brian could do but go with it now.

“I never ever meant to make you cry…...
If I could take it back you know I would. I wanna burn up and die”

He let go of the pain that had been his constant companion for far too long and cried. The tears blinded him as they flooded his eyes and ran down his pale cheeks. He wrapped his arms around his too slim body and he finally acknowledge he was still in love with Curt.

“So take a look at me now…since I told you it’s over….”

He cried with the knowledge that he’d destroyed the most beautiful thing he’d ever been given in his life. It was no use blaming Jerry and Shannon. While they may have contributed to the break up, he and Curt had done most of the damage themselves. Brian was honest enough with himself to know he’d done most of the damage and Curt had been on the receiving end of most of it.
Mostly he cried knowing that he would always be in love with the wildly unstable American who had stolen his heart out from under is nose. Brian couldn’t even remember when it had happened and by the end he’d realised belatedly that Curt had taken Brian’s heart with him when he left.
Eventually Brian found enough energy to drag himself off the floor and into the bathroom where he splashed cold water on his face unable to meet his own eyes in the mirror. He shuffled into the kitchen and sat down at the table and committed to paper the lyrics that had haunted his thoughts for two years.
A lone tear traced its silent course down his cheek s as he wrote.
Brian hoped that Curt would hear the song and the apology but what he really wanted was for Curt to let Brian give him now what he’d been incapable of truly doing two years ago. Love.
This song was the only way Brian could tell Curt that. Facing him was more than he could cope with right now so the song became his voice.

I’m black and blue from the wind and the rain
Said I'm sorry for the lies and the pain
I never ever meant to make you cry
If I could take you back, you know, I would,
I wanna burn up and die

(chorus)
So take a look at me now
Since I told you it's over
You got a hole in your heart
I'll find a four leaf clover
You can't tell me this now
This far down the line
That you're never, ever gonna get over me

You've seen a cross, it's a cross I bear
You're drinking, hard up, living without a hope or a care
You're making do to please you. I hope it makes you smile
You're not around for long, you gotta see what's gonna move your life right
along

So take a look at me now
Since I told you it's over
You got a hole in your heart
I'll find a four leaf clover
You can't tell me this now
This far down the line
That you're never, ever gonna get over me

I'm lost
I'm cold
I'm getting old
My head is filled with lies I told

I've been down
Been around
But I've fallen on my own two feet
And I've left you out to drown
I never meant for that

I look around, sometimes I stare
I think back now and then, I hope you know I care

Brian laughed without any humour at the magnitude of that understatement but kept writing.

I walked away that day, trying to treat you right
But you were on your track, it was me turning back, I left you freezing outside

(Chorus to fade)

A lone tear drop marred the elegant scrawl when the song was finished.

Curt hurt.
His emotions were all over the place but mostly he just hurt.
He hoped the DOG concert would have brought Brian to him. All he wanted to do was tell Brian he still loved him. He didn’t care what had happened in the past or what fucked up shit they’d done to each other two years ago he just wanted, needed the other half of his soul and Brian was it.
He was so tired of the emptiness he lived with these days he couldn’t even bring himself to hide the disappointment when Brian hadn’t shown up. He ached with the thought that he was going to have to acknowledge at some point that what he felt for Brian wasn’t ever going to be returned but the thought of loving any one else made him feel sick.
He knew it was stupid to cling to the hope that Brian might still love him but he couldn’t think of the alternative let alone believe it.
Mandy and Jack did all they could to help him but they weren’t Brian and they knew it.
Curt knew it.
She doubted Curt would ever let anyone in again the way he had Brian. It was the sort of love you were lucky you found once in a lifetime and they had in each other but it had been too new to withstand the pressures of Brian already being married, Jerry and Shannon’s manipulations, their own insecurities and ego’s.
Mandy knew Brian would probably always feel the same about Curt, which was confirmed when she spotted him at the DOG concert. That she didn’t tell Curt was a decision she’d made knowing it would kill him if he knew Brian had walked away this time.

Two weeks later, Curt staggered into the bathroom and grimaced at his reflection. He’d slept restlessly dreaming of Brian. It was the same every fucking night no matter how drunk he got or tried to get.
His hair stuck out in all direction making him look like he’d been dragged backwards through a knot hole and he had dark circles under his eyes. Even he was beginning to notice the extended weight loss but he had no appetite for anything.
Walking slowly he went into the kitchen passing the mail.
He made a cup of coffee and half heartedly picked up a small package addressed to him. He didn’t recognise the writing but that was nothing new. He tore it open and frowned when it turn out to be a tape with nothing written on it.
He shrugged and put it in the stereo and pressed play. He ambled back into the kitchen and picked up his mug when Brian’s voice floated out of the speakers and eased its way around Curt’s heart.
He froze.
Brian!

“I have no idea if you’ll ever get this Curt or if you ever want to hear from me again and I’ll try to understand if you don’t want to. But I wanted….needed to tell you…” Brian paused as he choked on an audible sob before continuing, the pain in his voice clear. “……. to tell you that I’m sorry for not believing in you. For not recognising what you gave me until it was too late. For the way I hurt you. But mostly that I love you, Curt and I always will”

The first chords of a song began and Curt sat down with a thump in the nearest chair. A single tear slid silently down his face as he sat and listened to the most beautiful thing Brian had ever given him.
Apart from himself.
When it finished Curt numbly walked to the stereo rewound the tape and played it again. He touched the speaker with a trembling hand as if he could reach Brian through them.
Brian did love him.
Curt slumped to the floor in front of the speakers and for the first time since Brian closed the curtains and set him adrift, he cried.
He heard the door open, perhaps half an hour later but he had no energy left to move and didn’t care who it was.
“Curt!” Mandy raced over to him. “What….are you……Curt?”
“Brian.” He whispered
Puzzled, Mandy frowned until Curt rewound the tape and played it again.
“Oh Curt.” She sighed and wrapped him in her arms

Two of the longest weeks passed after Curt received the tape and he’d heard nothing since. He had no idea how to get in contact with Brian so he could either strangle him or kiss him stupid. Or both. Well probably kiss him and make love to him.
He wanted to kiss him so badly, be kissed by him that he swore he could taste him. His sleep became an unbearable hell where he made love to Brian in his dreams and each morning he woke up frustrated, aching and alone, wondering how he was going to survive much more of this.
When he could sit still long enough to talk he fidgeted constantly and spoke so fast Jack had trouble keeping up with him.
He was living on his nerves, coffee and cigarettes.
Finally after days of enduring Curt’s pacing and trying to burn the flat down with half lit cigarettes left everywhere Jack ordered Curt to go to Mandy’s to get out of the place for a little while. He ignored Curt’s pleading requests to be left alone and shoved him in the taxi then hauled him out at the other end and pushed his reluctant self up the path to Mandy’s house and through the door.

Brian swallowed nervously as he approached Curt’s flat.
He hoped Curt didn’t knock his teeth down his throat. He knew he had every right to but he hoped he wouldn’t anyway. It had taken him weeks to pluck up the courage to approach Curt. Sending the tape was one thing but seeing him face to face was, quite frankly daunting and Brian was so nervous he thought he was going to be sick.
He knocked on Curt’s front door and waited for several minutes, dismayed to find that he wasn’t home.
Shit! Now what.
He turned and came face to face with Mandy.
He blushed, unable to meet her eyes and looked at his feet but instead of being told to fuck off, which he knew he deserved he found himself in a hug so tight he could barely breath.
“Mandy?” he croaked
“What took you so bloody long?”
“Er………?”
“Curt misses you desperately you know” Mandy said gently.
Brian blinked at her in surprise. She wasn’t telling him off or yelling at him or….. His thoughts screeched to a halt when Mandy’s words registered “He does?” the naked hope on his face brought a lump to Mandy’s throat.
“Why didn’t you just go and see him instead of sending that damn tape?
“I…….” Brian paused to pull his scattered thoughts together but all he could think about was that Curt missed him. “I didn’t think he’d want to see me.” Brian admitted, looking at his feet again.
“He loves you more than his own life, Brian.” Mandy said softly.
Brian flushed guiltily knowing full well what he’d done to Curt two years ago. “By the time I worked that out I’d already pushed him away.” He mumbled
“You need to tell Curt that, Brian and he needs to hear you say that. Come on.” Mandy said dragging Brian to her car.
“Where are we going?” He croaked several minutes later, sucking in a horrified breath as they appeared to miss a car by a whole coat of paint. His white knuckled grip on the seat leaving finger marks as Mandy took a corner at a speed that had Brian praying they were going to get to their destination alive.
“You’ll see.” She replied enigmatically

“A house?” Brain said, when he escaped the car and finally found his voice.
“Yup.” Mandy said way to cheerfully for someone who had just scared Brian half to death.
He followed Mandy slowly as he looked at what turned out to be Mandy’s house. A huge house. He smiled fleetingly. Atleast she’d done something smart with the divorce settlement.
He looked around the huge airy lounge room she’d lead him into and froze.
Curt.
He was seated on a couch, smoking and staring blindly out the huge windows that overlooked Mandy’s back garden. In a world of his own it seemed.
Brian contemplated bolting back out the door as a wave of fear gripped him and took a step backwards but was brought up short by Mandy and Jack who’d materialised out of nowhere and now blocked the door.
“Jack?” Brian didn’t know what to make of anything anymore. His bewildered gaze bouncing between the pair.
“Brian.” Jack smiled.
Both of them smiled at him but refused to move.
Brian hesitated, not really sure what he should do now that he was near Curt again until Jack spun him to face Curt and shoved him with surprising strength towards the other end of the room. Towards the only direction his future could possibly take.
He slowly approached the man he’d always be in love with, taking in everything he could see from his hair that was longer and framed those eyes to the obvious weight loss.
“Curt?” Brian whispered his name. Shaking.
Curt whipped his head around. His eyes huge and so sad as he looked up to see Brian standing a few feet away, looking endearingly shy and oh so very real.
“Brian?”

Mandy and Jack watched as Curt leaped to his feet so quickly he swayed alarmingly. Brian automatically reached out a hand to steady him before snatching it back, looking unsure of himself.
They watched the pair in silence for a few minutes. She pulled the door closed as they went into the kitchen and leaving Curt and Brian alone.

“Curt.” Brian sighed his name making Curt shiver.
They stared at each other for what seemed like eons when Brian suddenly stuck out a shaking hand.
Curt looked down at Brian’s hand then back up to his face. A slight frown drawing his eyebrows together. “What are you doing?”
“Starting over.”
Curt eyed Brian’s hand warily before taking it hesitantly in his own. He sighed at the contact, curling his fingers around Brian’s.
He closed his eyes feeling Brian’s touch everywhere. Curt opened his eyes again and met Brian’s blue ones. He didn’t want to start again he just wanted Brian back.
He needed to hold him again, to be held by Brian again.
Hell all he wanted was to be loved.
Brian may have said it on the tape but it wasn’t the same as hearing him saying to his face and Curt hoped like hell he would.Po
Curt needed that more than anything he’d ever wanted in his miserable excuse for a life. He’d never been able to work out why love was something always out of his reach. He used to dream of parents that loved him but he’d but that hadn’t happened, not that he could work out what it was about him that was so bad even his parents couldn’t love him. Now he was older and still it seemed life and the fates didn’t want him to ever feel what it was to be loved.
Yet for all of that he still had so much love inside him and all he’d wanted to do was find someone to give it to. Why was it so damn fucking hard?
Curt swallowed the old hurts and tried to banish them to the back of his mind.
“I………..” Brain paused to gather his thoughts, which had scattered at the touch of Curt’s hand. He drew a deep breath and tried again. “I need to….to tell you that I’m sorry…..” he looked down at their joined hands before swallowing his pride that had no place here and lifting his eyes back to Curt’s he blurted, “I’m sorry I hurt you, Curt and I’ll understand if you don’t want me here. It’s just that I……..I couldn’t…….” before he could finish Curt yanked on Brian’s hand and pull him flush against him.
He wrapped Brian in his arms and drew him as close as he could.
Brian drew in a shuddering breath, his starved senses absorbing Curt’s touch. He closed his eyes and wrapped himself around him, burying his face in Curt’s hair, the familiar smell of his love’s skin weaving it’s memory around Brian’s heart.
Curt moaned low in his throat, hoping this wasn’t another damn fucking dream. One he’d had so many times in the past two years and he didn’t think he could cope if he woke up from this. Not again!
His arms tightened around Brian’s neck, tight enough to make breathing difficult.
“Curt?” Brain felt the desperation in Curt’s suddenly painful grip and tried to move back. Trying to see his face but he wouldn’t let his strangle hold on Brian’s neck go. “Curt, please.” Brian whispered, trying to pull back.
Curt relinquished his hold on Brian’s neck reluctantly but refused to let go completely. He couldn’t.
Brian moved back far enough to see Curt’s face and sucked in a breath at the pain he could see in those huge eyes of his that truly were windows to his soul.
He was causing Curt more pain. He never should have gone to the damn concert. He should have just stayed away. Hell he didn’t know what he should have done. Stayed home and died a slow painful death each day he existed without Curt perhaps. He didn’t know but before his panicked thoughts could run away with him Curt spoke.
“Kiss me” Curt whispered scattering Brian’s troubled thoughts.
Brian eyes jerked back up to Curt’s. “I…..you want me to……?”
“Yes.” Curt said simply, his eyes never wavering from Brian’s.
Brian closed the few inches separating them and touched his lips to Curt’s.
Any finesse he had deserted him at the familiar feel of Curt’s lips but when Curt’s mouth opened at Brian’s silent request an overwhelming need to show Curt what he really meant to Brian took over. He consumed Curt’s mouth in a kiss that left little doubt about how he felt.
Curt moaned into Brian’s mouth and kissed him back.
It was an ending of sorts but most importantly Curt hoped it was a beginning.
Brian felt Curt’s tears on his fingers but he never stopped. Never once broke the contact he needed as much as Curt did. Even as his own tears ran down his cheeks.
It may have taken him two years to come to his senses but he had and he put all of that into it as he kissed Curt trying to tell him everything his heart was saying.
Curt pulled back eventually and regarded his former lover who he hoped like hell was about to become his lover again but then he almost dared to hope they’d become more than that.
Brian in turn regarded Curt. He always knew what Curt was thinking. His eyes broadcast it louder than when Curt eventually voiced whatever was on his mind and clearly something was on his mind now.
Brain cupped Curt’s face to make sure he was looking at him.
“I love you.” He said softly.
Curt’s thoughts derailed. He opened his mouth but no sound emerged. He stared at Brian in mute shock before a crooked little smile wobbled across his lips and slowly reached his eyes. He had no idea how effected he would be by those three little words but he was sure his whole world had just shifted on it’s axis.
Curt kissed Brian this time, taking his mouth roughly, barely in control of himself and Brian let him putting up no resistance. Eventually Curt calmed though and proceeded to kiss Brian senseless trying to put all his love into the kiss.
He almost giggled into Brian’s mouth. Brian loved him.
As happy as he was Curt still needed to breathe so he pulled back a sappy smile tugging at his lips.
Brian loved him.
It made him feel impossibly warm and somewhat embarrassingly like shouting from every rooftop he could find. For the first time in his life Curt felt what it was to be loved and finally understood why people sang all those ridiculously soppy love songs. Why they wrote bad poetry about it.
Brian watched the emotions chase themselves across Curt’s face and was taken completely by surprise when Curt said “I love you too.”
He shouldn’t have been surprised, he’d know how Curt felt when he let him go but he wasn’t prepared for how the words made him feel. How knowing that Curt loved him made him feel.
Maybe, just maybe they were going to be ok after all.

If anyone here is interested I started a community for anyone who's having trouble either finishing a fan fic cos the muse has abandoned you and you need an idea to get it going again or you have a plot bunny but don't think you'd be able to write the story for whatever reason and would like to see someone have a go at it or you can help someone else in the same situation.

It's for all Ewan related slash pairings be it Star Wars, Velvet Goldmine or real life slash with Hayden (always seems to be him for some reason) or any other slash pairings you might be writing.

http://community.livejournal.com/ewan_fic_ideas

It's not for posting the fics themselves. They can be posted in the relevant community this is just if you need help.

An audience armed to the teeth with cameras.
Brian tried to swallow, his throat bone dry.
He shifted to relieve the growing discomfort that had instantly sprung to attention at Curt’s opening performance and discovered that skintight was taking on a whole new meaning.
Brian started violently when Jerry elbowed him none to gently in the ribs.
“Wha…..?”
“Answer the fucking question.” Jerry hissed without moving his lips
Brian raised his eyebrows, impressed. He had no idea Jerry possessed that talent.
He stared blankly at the press. He also had no idea who’d even asked the question……….”Er…what was the question?” he mumbled, flushing.
Several tense minutes later Brian was starting to develop a headache as he tried to concentrate on the press and ignore Curt but he knew he was fighting a loosing battle.
Feeling inordinately pleased with himself after managing to answer several questions without once looking at Curt, Brian looked to the next reporter who had the misfortune of being directly in front of Curt.
Curt who was leaning against the wall with his hips thrust out slightly stretching those infernal laces close to breaking point. His thumbs hooked in the waist band with his hands hanging loosely, a stark contrast to the black leather and framing what Brian well knew Curt was naturally endowed with.
He might as well have had a fucking neon arrow pointing at his crotch.
Brian screwed up the next several questions completely miss-hearing them. He glowered at Curt, or atleast he tried to but feared all he’d managed was to do was look pathetically love struck.
He just hoped he wasn’t drooling in any of the photos.
Brian struggled to get his brain out of Curt’s crotch but he was doomed to failure and Curt knew it.
Curt had the wickedest smile playing around his lips and it went straight to Brian’s now straining erection. He mentally willed his over eager erection to go away but it ignored him and to just spite him his traitorous body hardened further when Curt ran his tongue along his bottom lip earning him Brian’s undivided attention.
Curt brought his hand up to his lips and ran his tongue across his palm and placed his lips in the center of the glistening trail and blew Brian a kiss.
Brian blinked owlishly and wondered faintly how many laws Curt just broke.
Sliding his gaze sideways, Brian wondered how on earth Jerry hadn’t noticed Curt’s show but then he guessed there was no love lost between them. Besides Brian was sure Jerry blamed Curt for his vanishing act so he didn’t think Jerry would be looking for him. He hoped.
Mercifully for Brian, his soon to be former manager had pretty much taken over the show and answering all the questions. Milking it for all he was worth.
Brian tried for a deep calming breath and was vastly relieved to feel his erection slackening slightly. He even managed to get not one but several whole sentences out and in english no less. Mentally congratulating himself, Brian caught movement out of the corner of his eye and looked without thinking.
His mouth dropped open.
His erection sprang back to full hardness in an instant and he sucked in a breath as a wave of dizziness hit him. Curt was slowly drawing his finger in and out of his mouth making it abundantly clear to Brian exactly what he’d like to be doing to a very attentive part of his anatomy.
Brian wondered if passing out was too chicken a way out of this.
How much blood did he need north of his crotch and still function? He had no idea but he had a sinking feeling he was about to find out because one thing was clear. Curt was nowhere near finished with him.
Brian was fairly certain there wasn’t much blood heading in any other direction. All arteries lead to his dick it would seem.
And his skin tight pants were slowly strangling him. Whose brilliant bloody idea was it to wear them anyway?
He grimaced at the growing discomfort and tried another futile attempt to block Curt who’s mercifully stopped giving his finger a blowjob but was now looking very thoughtful. This did not reassured Brian at all but he sighed in relief all the same.
He took several calming breathes and tried to reign in his raging libido and almost leapt out of his skin when someone shouted his name loud enough to penetrate the lust cloud Curt had him wrapped in.
“What…?”
“I said are you and Curt Wild going to………..”
His voice faded out when Brian thought for a horrified second he was going to look for Curt.
“I…..uh…..sorry, what?” Brian floundered.
The reporter asked him again but Brian just couldn’t make out what he was saying. He could see his lips moving so it meant he was talking and Brian tried hard to concentrate on him but Curt had chosen the exact same moment, no doubt deliberately, to run the finger he’d previously practiced oral sex on up the laces of his pants. Then slowly pushed his hand down his pants.
‘Oh my fucking god’ Brian thought in panic.
Brian gave up on the reporter completely and tried for the distraction method of ignoring Curt by coming up with varying ways he was going to get his lover back for this when it finally dawned on his lust fogged mind just how much trouble he really was in.
This was revenge and Curt had deliberately picked the one place Brian could nothing about but sit and endure the sensual torture. And all because he’d laughed at that stupid teacup. He should have known Curt wouldn’t let it slide.
‘Oh fucking bloody hell’ Brian thought now edging closer to outright panic.
He barely resisted the urge to run screaming from the room but hot on the heels of that panicked thought came the knowledge that if he stood up at the moment he’d probably castrate himself and running was physically impossible unless he undid his pants.
He almost laughed out loud, if not slightly hysterically imagining that picture in all the newspapers.
Brian tried for glowering at Curt again instead but failed dismally. Again! He heaved a sigh.
And when the hell had it gotten so fucking bloody hot in here anyway? He grabbed for the glass of water like a dying man and gulped down half of it in one mouthful before his treacherous gaze fell on his lover again.
He inhaled the water.
Brian snorted it across the table, coughing and spluttering. He turned beet red.
Curt laughed at him and stopped wanking himself through the laces of his pants.
Several of the press who weren’t hanging on Jerry’s every word followed Brian’s watering eyes and looked at Curt.
He smiled sweetly at them all with such an innocent expression on his face Brian was sure he was imagining it. Curt? Sweet?
Curt was about as innocent as the Devil and a hundred times more dangerous. Brian figured Curt could teach the devil about seduction and probably had.
His eyes twinkling merrily, Curt waved at Brian.
Brian resisted the urge to stick both fingers up at him in return and ignored him.
Suddenly Brian found himself the center of very curious attention and he shifted uncomfortably. He was absolutely terrified they’d see just how aroused he was. He had no way of hiding his less than wanted erection in this outfit which did everything but make it a public announcement.
Naturally now that Curt was no longer anyone’s focus of attention he was free to go back to torturing Brian.
And he was gone.
Brian looked around wildly edging ever closer to outright panic.
Then he heard Curt’s voice.
Behind him?
He swallowed nervously. He’d forgotten there was only a curtain behind him and not the usual studio wall.
The same curtain Curt was now behind.
If Brian thought he was in trouble before then he knew he was in trouble now.
Curt had him so close to the edge of coming it wasn’t funny and Brian figured at this point he could recite the phone book and he’d be gone.
But noooooooo was Curt reciting something as prosaic as the phone book? Of course not!
He had the Karma Sutra by the sounds of it?
Brian swallowed thickly and looked at the clock on the wall. They’d only been here 20 minutes? He stared incredulously at the damn thing sure it must be going backwards. It felt like a freaking eternity and now he had to try and not react to Curt’s very suggestive comments about some exceedingly excited parts of his over stimulated body. He glared at his traitorous lower half and mentally thanked whoever had seen fit to put a cloth on the table. It was the only thing between Brian and being arrested for indecent exposure with his pants still on at this point.
“I’m going to swallow you whole” Curt whispered behind him.
Brian nearly swallowed his tongue.
Curt paused for a second and Brian caught himself leaning backwards on the chair.
For the longest 5 minutes of Brian’s life he endured any number of suggestive comments emanating from behind that damn curtain and it finally reached boiling point, literally when Curt whispered he was about to come on his own hand imagining it was Brian’s.
Brian tried hard to keep the orgasm off his face and had no idea if he’d succeeded but revenge or no Brian was going to fucking throttle the love of his life.
When he could walk again that was. He hadn’t come that hard in a while and certainly not without even touching himself. His ears were ringing.
But if he thought that was the end of his problems Brian soon realised he had a bigger one. Light blue skin tight satin was not the colour or material to be trying to hide what had just happened and if the interview format followed true to form he would be expected to stand and leave first.
Oh shit, shit, shit, shit!
Brian could not see a way out of this and clutching at straws was contemplating throwing a Hollywood style tantrum he read some actor or another had thrown or he could accidentally spill the rest of his water. Hmmm he liked that idea and was reaching for the glass when Curt materialised at his side with his leather coat. Smirking at Brian’s irritated glare, Curt held the coat up for Brian to put it on effectively covering him from everyone who was watching but Curt who saw the tell tale stain.
Brian wrapped it around him and met Curt’s amused, knowing gaze.
He sighed. “Oh shut up.”

He slipped out of the room and padded barefoot into the kitchen to find Malcolm sipping a cup of something he assumed was tea.
“Morning.” he mumbled
“Morning.” He replied. “Tea?” he asked.
“Coffee?” Curt asked, hopeful.
“Sorry” Malcolm said, mentally adding coffee to the shopping list at the disappointed look on Curt’s face. “Do you want to try tea?” Malcolm had no idea if Curt even drank the stuff.
“Shit!” Curt sighed. He really needed a cup of coffee. “Ok I’ll give it a go.”
Malcolm made Curt a cup of tea, neither of them having the faintest idea how Curt liked it so they settled for the same as he drank his coffee.
Malcolm handed Curt his cup of tea that he may or may not like and laughed at the horrified look on Curt’s face.
Curt stared incredulously at the dainty floral patterned teacup. He looked at Malcolm who was clearly trying not to laugh. “You actually drink out of these things?”
“We’ve been known to on occasion” Malcolm smiled as Curt took the cup, holding it like it was a hand grenade set to go off if he moved.

And that was how Brian found Curt when he stumbled into the kitchen several minutes later. Curt stood at the sink his pants half-done up, his hair messy and his make-up even messier and he had a delicate teacup in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
Brian’s surprised gaze bounced backwards and forwards between Curt’s face and the teacup he was gingerly holding.
His mouth dropped open.
He plopped down in the first chair he got to and covered his mouth with his hands. His eyes twinkling merrily above them, trying in vain to contain the laughter at Curt’s disgruntled expression and the whole incongruous image off set by the daintiest tea cup he’d ever seen being held by one of rocks true bad boys.
Curt sighed. “Oh shut up.”

Several hours later Curt and Brian were back in their room, both men lying on the bed smoking and talking about nothing in particular just enjoying the simple pleasure of being with each other.
Brian felt the laughter bubbling up in him again. It really shouldn’t be this funny but Curt holding that teacup had struck Brian as one of the funniest things he’d ever seen and he just couldn’t seem to stop laughing whenever he thought about it. Curt had been pretty good about it so far only grumbling at Brain every time he fell into fits of laughter.
Trying hard to keep the laughter from his voice he said, “Want a cup of tea” His expression as innocent as he could get it.
“Not again.” Curt groaned, now recognising the impending mirth.
Brain snickered, but he couldn’t control it and burst out laughing.
Curt groaned and stared at his lover who was, it appeared on the verge of loosing it yet again.
“I don’t know why you find it so fucking funny.” Curt complained
Brian just laughed harder.
“That’s it I’m buying coffee.” Curt groused, trying for a pissed off expression but barely managing to look even the slightest bit upset. He stared bemused at Brian.
“No……….” Brain gasped for air. “I…love…that…teacup” he wheezed between fits of laughter.
Curt shook his head and waited for this latest bout of laughing to subside.
A knock on the door interrupted Curt’s contemplation of jumping Brian and kissing him senseless. Heaving himself of the bed, he left Brain to sort his naked arse out for himself.
Curt opened the door to a furiously blushing Arthur. “Malcolm wants to know if want a cup of tea?” he said in a rush then blushed harder when Brain collapsed on the bed howling with laughter, completely naked.
“Just ignore him.” Curt muttered, glaring at Brian. “Fucking stupid tea cup.” Curt said sending Brian off into another fit of laughter
“Oh you mean the Royal Albert one?” Arthur said innocently
Curt thought Brian was going to piss himself if he laughed any harder. “Royal……Albert” he gasped, panting for breath and clutching his aching stomach muscles.
“So it would seem.” Curt grumbled. Rolling his eyes he turned back to Arthur.
“Tea?” Arthur repeated looking in amusement at Brian as he erupted into fresh peals of laughter.
“No I think I’ll pass, but thanks.” Curt glanced at his still laughing lover as he closed and locked the door feeling it was about time for a bit of retribution and he knew exactly how he was going to get it.

TITLE: After the Storm pt 2
AUTHOR: xr8fordgirl
DISCLAIMER: As much as I'd love to I don't own any of them. The characters aren't mine just borrowed for a slice of time.
SUMMARY: Make-up sex
GENRE: Angsty and romance
PAIRING: Curt/Brian
RATING: R again.

Curt woke with a start, blinking into the unfamiliar dappled morning light in a room he didn’t recognise. He was pretty sure he went to bed sober for a change so where the hell was he?
He looked up and frowned. Since when did his bed have a canopy? He gazed owlishly at the rich burgundy velvet draped over the frame of the four-poster. He was also damn sure his bed wasn’t this comfortable either. Lumpy, he conceded but not comfortable.
He tried unsuccessfully for several almost awake minutes to remember where the hell he was. Maybe they’d crashed at someone’s house but whose? Running the risk of giving himself a headache Curt chose instead to drift back to sleep. Closing his eyes he burrowed into the bed.
Floating in that almost asleep state, Curt drifted and probably would have fallen back asleep had Brain not moved, rolling over in his sleep.
Curt’s eyes popped open again. He looked over at his lover, blissfully asleep.
Oh! Curt thought to himself. He hadn’t been dreaming. Now fully awake last night’s memories and everything that had happened the day before surfaced. It explained the bed at least, not to mention why he was totally naked.
Curt wondered how Jerry had taken the disappearance of his biggest money maker. He had no doubt Shannon had rung him the second she’d found a phone after scuttling back into the house and while they may have got out of the house, he was under no illusion that they’d actually escaped yet.
Shannon was, in Curt’s opinion; by far the larger of the two threats those two represented. He might not be the sanest or smartest man on the planet but he wasn’t stupid either and he could see Shannon was clearly in love with Brian and that to Curt was more dangerous. Especially when it was combined with her drive and ambition. At this point she probably had more to loose than Jerry. He only cared about the money. Shannon wanted it all.
Curt sighed, giving up any chance of falling back to sleep and rolled onto to his side to watch Brian sleep.
Content to let thoughts float to the surface of his mind, the first one to surface was where they were going to stay in the long run. As much as he liked Malcolm and his house they couldn’t stay there forever and there was still that stupid shooting to get through. Getting Maxwell Demon out of their lives was just as important as getting rid of Jerry and Shannon.
Staring blindly at the curtains, Curt tried unsuccessfully to think of a place they could run to and apart from heading back to the US he had no real idea of where they could go. He’d rather go back to Jerry than his parents but then again New York was an easy city to vanish in.
Curt felt movement in the bed and looked back at Brain to find him theoretically awake and watching him. “Morning.” Brian mumbled sleepily
Curt smiled at him and watched as he tried to take in the surroundings. Brian frowned, blinking as he took in the beds canopy. Curt realised that’s what he must have looked like.
“Malcolm.” He replied to Brian’s confusion.
His gaze shot back to Curt, the confusion clearing. “No Shannon?” he asked, looking so hopeful, Curt wondered how she couldn’t see that Brian didn’t even like her.
“No Shannon.” He confirmed
Brian smiled a genuinely happy if not sleepy smile for the first time in days. “No Shannon” he repeated again, his smile widening.
Smiling at Brian’s apparent happiness Curt pushed himself up on one elbow leaned over Brian and kissed him. He may have borrowed the line from Oscar Wilde when they’d first kissed but he’d meant every word of it, although as he deepened the kiss those very lips were closer to rewriting his sanity than any history Curt could think of. He’d only intended to say good morning with the kiss but desire flared quickly between them and the kiss took on a life of it’s own.

Brian’s sleep fogged mind froze as Curt kissed him then went blank as Curt deepened the kiss. He’d been about to say something but damned if he could remember. He opened his lips to give better access to Curt’s seeking tongue but Curt it seemed was happy to play a coy game of cat and mouse with Brian’s tongue. Moaning in frustration. Brian tried to get Curt’s tongue with his own but Curt evaded his attempts easily. Wanting more, Brian tried to reach for Curt and frowned when he couldn’t move his hands.
Curt broke the kiss but kept Brian’s hands pinned down. He knew if Brian got those talented hands on him this would be over way to quickly and he seemed to know exactly how to touch Curt if last night was anything to go by. Once Brain had got his hands on Curt he’d known he was in trouble and any thought of prolonging the love making had been blown away. Last night had been hard and fast which at the time they both wanted and needed because they were in too much of a rush to stop and after the past 48 it had been wonderful but now in the early morning light, Curt could afford more time to slow things down and savour, for him, the unique experience of making love to another person. Something he’d neither had the inclination or desire to do before Brian.

Brian frowned, why couldn’t he reach for Curt? His lust addled mind couldn’t figure it out but as Curt broke the kiss to trail a series of small kisses down his throat, the lust cleared just enough for him to realise Curt was holding both his hand in a tight grip.
He shivered as Curt’s tongue left a wet trail from his shoulder to under his left ear. Frustrated he tried again to break Curt’s grip. He desperately wanted to get his hands on Curt and feel his chest and those shoulders and just run his hands over anywhere he could reach but Curt, while technically stronger than Brian had never used his strength against Brian until now. Frustrated he pouted at the burgundy velvet but gave up trying to break Curt’s grip for now.
It reminded him of that time he’s been on stage singing Baby’s on Fire and Curt had literally skipped on stage in those silver pants that just about destroyed Brian’s mind every time Curt wore them and Brian had gone down in front of Curt during his guitar solo and licked the guitar. He’d been as frustrated then too because the damn guitar had been in the way. No, he thought, that the audience had needed a lesson in the art of oral sex but it was all he’d wanted to do to the point, he’d early forgotten the lyrics to the rest of the song.
Now here he was his hands pinned either side of his head and Curt was saying something he’d missed. Shit!
Brian blinked in confusion. “Wha..?”
“No touching.” Curt repeated
“But!” Brian’s protest was cut off as Curt kissed him again deeply, scattering his thoughts.
Continuing his renewed assault on Brian’s mouth, Curt felt him struggling to free his hands but Curt held on. He wanted Brian driven out of his mind and he needed so very badly to give back to Brian what he’d given to Curt last night. Himself!

Brian tried again to get his hands back. “Why can’t I………” his sentence ended on a gasp as Curt moved down slightly and licked a path up the middle of Brian’s chest ending under his chin before indulging in another long deep kiss. Left panting and wound so tightly he thought he was going to burst, Brian nearly died when Curt transferred his attention to his nipples. Using his teeth, he gently nipped at the flat discs before licking away the love bites. He blew over the wet trail he’d left.
Goosebumps broke out across Brian’s chest. He shivered again and made his last attempt to get his hands on Curt’s body. He found to his delight Curt had let them go but there was no Curt to touch and Brian’s hands found nothing but air. Getting really frustrated Brian lifted his head to look for Curt and figured it was a good thing he was laying down. Curt was hovering over Brian’s stomach and the look in his eyes made Brian nervous.

Curt slowly moved lower and he felt Brian’s erection pressing demandingly into his own stomach. Ignoring it for now he dipped his head and ran his tongue across Brian’s lower stomach while maintaining eye contact with Brian and watched fascinated as his breath hitched when Curt neared his erection. Not wanting to go there yet Curt skirted around it and headed down the out side of his thigh frustrating Brian even further. He alternately licked and nibbled his way down the outside of his left thigh. Brian moaned and he squirmed on the bed, which turned Curt on even more, if that was possible. He had no idea how powerful it would make him feel, being able to turn Brian into nothing more than need and desire.
Although he had to admit it was much easier to ignore Brian’s erection than it was his own, and he had to fight the constant need to reach down and relieve some of the pressure himself but that wasn’t what he wanted right now. He’d had too much of that when he was on his own. Now he had Brian and he was going to drag this out for as long as they could both take it.

What nearly undid Brian was, Curt moving to the inside of his thigh. He had no idea it turned him on this much to be touched there. His skin felt over sensitised and every lick and nibble Curt tortured him with went straight to his dick, his brain having been by-passed some time between Curt kissing him awake and now. He was beyond coherent anything and wanted Curt inside him more than his next breath. Brian screwed his eyes shut and tried to calm his breathing while Curt’s mouth continued it’s assault on Brian’s senses. He feared if he moved he’d come then and there he was being wound so tight.
“Curt!” Brian exhaled his name on a moan
“Hmmm?” Curt hummed into his trembling leg.
Brian just about leapt out of his skin as the vibrations travelled along his leg. Moaning again, his breathing became more uneven he tried to get his head around what Curt was doing to him but he couldn’t focus for long enough to string a sentence together
“Please.” He begged although for what he wasn’t sure what for and not caring one iota how desperate it made him sound. His whole world had narrowed to this bed and what Curt was doing to him.
Curt lifted his head and looking past Brian’s impressive erection he watched fascinated as his stomach muscles bunch and flexed when Curt blew on the wet trail he’d just left. Transferring his attention he dipped his head briefly to lick the inside of Brian’s other thigh then raised his head to watch again. Curt could do this all day although he figured Brian was probably getting close to his breaking point so he raised himself onto his elbows
“Brian?”
“Hmmm?” Brian hummed, about as coherent as he was going to get right now
“Move up on the pillows. I want you to watch.”
He swallowed convulsively but did as Curt asked then moaned again as Curt trailed his fingers lightly up the inside of his thighs, stopping just short of where he desperately wanted his hands. Meeting Brian’s gaze he dipped his head and ran his tongue up the rock hard length of his erection, then back down again. Cupping Brian’s balls gently in his hand he fondled them. Brian’s head dropped back in ecstasy, his eyes closed.
“Watch.” Curt commanded gently
Brain thought he was going to have a heart attack. It felt like it was beating in his throat and as Curt’s mouth descended again he figured it was a hell of a way to go only this time Curt took the head of his penis in his mouth and applied a gentle sucking pressure. Brian jerked his hips off the bed in an involuntary reaction but Curt pushed him back down. Moaning in an agony of feelings that overwhelmed him Brian gasped Curt’s name as he rapidly approached the point of no return.
Curt could feel how close Brain was and lifted his mouth away not wanting him to come yet.
Brian wondered faintly if Curt was trying to kill him with pleasure. He made a frustrated attempt to get Curt’s mouth back to where he desperately wanted it but he easily alluded all of Brian’s less than co-ordinated attempts to capture him. Sliding back up Brian’s body they both groaned at the contact as Curt rubbed their erections against each other.
Pushing himself into a sitting position between Brian’s splayed legs he studied Brian for a minute through his hair thankful that Brian had come down to him yesterday. He had no idea what he would have done if he hadn’t but then he’d never been in love like this either and even the thought of Brian with Jerry or Shannon was enough to make him feel sick
His blonde hair in wild disarray, Brian was rapidly falling harder for Curt than anyone he’d ever known. His breathing laboured Brian met Curt’s eyes and they simply stared at each other for a minute.

Curt’s cock twitched reminding him there was something else here that needed his urgent attention. Putting a hand on each knee, Curt slowly ran his hands up the inside of Brian’s legs gently pushing them further apart as he did so they went around his hips and not taking his eyes from Brian’s he slowly entered him. Brian’s eyes drifted shut as Curt pushed deeper, the pleasure almost unbearable and he held his breath until Curt was completely buried in him.
Curt let out a breath he wasn’t even aware he’d been holding then sucked in a sharp one as Brian clenched around him. Sweat broke out all over Curt as he struggled to hold back the orgasm that was rapidly approaching and he hadn’t even moved yet.
Brian pried one eye open to see Curt covered in sweat with his eyes screwed tightly shut. “Curt?” he whispered
“Yeah.” He ground out. “Give me a second”
“I need to come now, Curt. Move. Please….” Brian begged him yet again lifting his hips slightly
Curt partially slid out of Brian as his hips lifted. “Oh shit.” He muttered as he grabbed hold of Brian’s hips and surged back into him. Curt tried not to go to hard when all he wanted to do was slam into Brian but he knew he’s come to quick so a tried for a steady rhythm but he couldn’t maintain it and pushed harder and harder into Brian bringing them so close he could almost taste it.
Leaning forward Curt ran his hands across Brian’s stomach trying desperately to buy time to gain back some control but before he could even think about it, Brian lifted his hips allowing Curt to slide almost out so only the head remained inside him. He paused for a heartbeat before pushing his hips back down and taking Curt all the way inside.
Curt let his head roll back on his shoulders and moaned. There was no way he was going to be able to hold out much longer but he didn’t want to come first either. Lifting his head he met Brian’s gaze and let him ride his cock. Taking Brian’s in his hand he began to jerk him off in time to Brian’s thrusting hips.
“Oh god” Brian moaned as he approached his orgasm, pushing his hips faster. “Curt!” he gasped
“Come for me” Curt pleaded already there himself. He sucked in a shocked breath as he felt Brian contract around him pushing him over the edge as they both came.
Winded, Curt gazed at Brian as his breathing slowed. His stunned mind struggled to deal with what they’d just shared. And he thought last night had been amazing. Pulling slowly out of him, Curt crawled up the bed and flopped down next to Brian. Neither could think of a thing to say so they just looked at each other.
Lifting an unsteady hand, Curt brushed away the blue spikes of hair stuck to Brian’s forehead. Brian smiled unsteadily at him and Curt didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the overwhelming emotions that ran through him so he kissed Brian deeply instead, before they both fell into a deep sleep.

TITLE: After the Storm pt 1
AUTHOR: xr8fordgirl
DISCLAIMER: As much as I'd love to I don't own any of them. The characters aren't mine just borrowed for a slice of time.
SUMMARY: the morning after the eeeebil fight, which I refuse to acknowledge happened but did and since I hate the outcome of it I decided to re-write how I thought it should have gone
GENRE: Angsty and romance
PAIRING: Curt/Brian
RATING: There's swearing but that's about it for now.

Brian paced the length of the room. Up and back. Up and back. Up and back. Mandy was beginning to feel like, as Brian himself might have put it, one of those toffs that went to Wimbledon every year. Tension poured off him in waves and as Mandy watched him as he muttered to himself. She had no idea what he was saying.
He’d driven everyone else out of the room, but Mandy, who was used to Brian’s moods, had stayed. She’d seen it all before about one thing or another but not she had to admit about another man.
When Mandy actually stopped to think about it, it hurt her that she couldn’t be everything Brian needed, then again, she’d known that when they got married and if she was really honest with herself, what she was, was jealous of what Brian and Curt seemed to have found in each other. Clearly there was something more than good sex between the two men, and after yesterday’s fiasco in the studio it had become glaringly obvious that somewhere in the maze of glitter and facades they’d fallen in love.
Initially, she’d tried to calm Brian down after Curt had stormed out and she figured it was a lovers quarrel that had been fuelled by Jerry and that insipid little shit Shannon, but the longer she got Brian to talk the more she realised there was real emotion involved -- the more she came to realise Brian was in love with that crazy, unstable American.
Mandy had left Brian once she was sure he had passed out from the wine and sedative she’d slipped him, and had gone looking for Curt. It didn’t take long to find him; he’d only gone as far as the other flat they sometimes stayed at. It did, however, take considerably longer to get Curt to let her in. When he finally did, Mandy wasn’t surprised to see his blonde hair in wild disarray and anger radiating from him like sullen fire.
It had taken less time to get Curt to open up than Brian, though. He was furious with Jerry, which Mandy figured he would be, but not for the reasons she’d assumed. Curt, it seemed, was more interested in being with Brian than recording, and cared little for Jerry’s style of musical direction on the record he was supposed to be making. It was Jerry’s manipulation of Brian that was the problem and Curt had decided during the fight he just didn’t want to compete with Jerry and Brian’s alter ego, Maxwell Demon.
Only instead of holing himself up Curt had packed his bags and was, he warned, leaving for Germany in the morning. Mandy had finally convinced him to come by the house first, assuring him that Jerry was too busy finalising deals for the tour Brian was part way through to be there to interfere and possibly even break up what he saw as a threat to Maxwell Demon’s rise to fame.
So here she was, getting a crick in her neck from watching Brian pace back and forth as she leaned on the wall by the window, silently willing Curt to turn up.
“Brian.” Mandy watched him pace. “Brian!” failing to get his attention she shouted “Brian!” He visibly started at the sound of her voice before finally focussing his still-bleary eyes on her.
“What? ” He snapped.
Mandy smiled. Brian only snapped at her when he was worried or upset about something and she figured in this case probably both.
Brian frowned at Mandy failing to see the humour anywhere in this farce that was in his melodramatic opinion taking on all the hallmarks of a Greek tragedy. “What?” he repeated.
By way of answer Mandy simply pointed out the window.
Still frowning, he approached the window and peered out, just to oblige her. His eyes widened and he sucked in a stunned breath as if he’d been hit.
On the street below, standing in front of a sleek white limousine, stood Curt. Looking up at him even though Brian was behind a curtain. Brian noted absently to himself that Curt didn’t look any better than he felt himself.
He whipped around to face Mandy. “How….?”
“Doesn’t matter, does it. Just go and sort it out,” she urged. “You can’t just let it end like this.”
Brian’s mouth dropped open. “I thought you didn’t like Curt.”
Mandy flushed, the memory of what she’d last said about Curt returning “I never hated him, love,” she sighed, before admitting in a low voice, “I’m jealous of what you have with him, if you must know.”
Brian’s mouth formed a perfect, sensuous O of surprise.
He’d admitted to himself earlier he wanted Curt more than Maxwell Demon. He was becoming less enamoured with the illusion of his alter ego by the minute and desperately wanting out he’d made the mistake of calling his manager to demand he let him out of the whole farce.
Jerry had known this call was coming and knew Curt was the reason behind it, but he’d reminded his young charge that he was contractually bound to the remainder of the tour and he’d tough it out if Brian could.
Cursing, Brian had slammed the phone down, unaware that Mandy had been listening to Jerry’s end of the conversation.
“Come on, Brian,” Mandy said to bring him out of his thoughts. “Bloody do something.”
Spinning on his heel, he paced furiously, nearly making himself and Mandy dizzy in the process and all the while keeping an eye on Curt. He stopped abruptly. “What about Jerry?”
“Fuck Jerry.” Mandy said
Brian smirked. “No thanks,” he said, deadpan. Mandy groaned and tossed a cushion half heartedly at him “But how do I get out of this mess? He all but threatened me if I walked out,” Brian said getting serious again.
Mandy sighed. “Go talk to Curt. We’ll figure something out. We always have in the past, love, but Curt isn’t going to stand out there forever.”
Brian planted a huge kiss on her lips before yanking the door open with so much force he all but ripped it off its hinges as he raced out of the room, nearly flattening Shannon, Jerry’s irritatingly clingy assistant.
Surprised by his sudden appearance at the door she had been about to open, Shannon tried to get his attention. “Brian, we...” she called to his rapidly retreating back as he sprinted down the long carpeted hallway, his spiky blue hair flying in every direction, and flung himself headlong down the flight of stairs and into a shorter hallway before leaping the last four stairs that lead to the door and Curt.
Unceremoniously Brian crashed the door open and half stumbled, half ran out to come to a panting halt in front of a surprised Curt, who hadn’t expected to see Brian at all despite Mandy’s assurances.
Panting with exertion, Brian managed to get Curt’s name out on a huff of air before he doubled over trying to catch his breath. Man, he had to quit the bloody cigarettes before they killed him, he thought to himself. If Jerry doesn’t kill you first, his mind taunted back. He scowled at his feet.
Curt eyed his out-of-breath lover, wondering what the fuck was going on. He laid a tentative hand on the back of Brian’s head silently asking if he was all right. It was a lover’s gesture, a subconscious one born of physical intimacy. Neither man would have realised what it looked like to someone else -- certainly not to Shannon who had followed Brian to see what was happening and had frozen at the sight of the man she loved with that other man.
Curt straightened, pushing his hair off his face, when he saw Shannon but didn’t remove his hand, daring her silently to make an issue of it. But even doubled over as he was just then, Brian had also spotted her.
“Fuck ,off Shannon,” Brian wheezed.
Curt looked in surprise at Brian. Now Curt was really curious about what had happened since he’d stormed out last night. He noted with satisfaction that Shannon flushed at Brian’s words
Doggedly she tried again. “But...Brian...we...” She faltered to a halt under Curt’s glare.
She had balls, Curt had to give her that. He’d loathed the simpering little bitch since he’d met her and seen the way she looked at his lover, while she had come to hate Curt because she finally realised the nature of the relationship between the two men after that fateful party. And Curt had the one thing she wanted more than anything else. Brian.
“Shannon.” Everyone looked up at Mandy leaning precariously out the second story window. “Stay the hell away from my husband,” she shouted
“How can he be your husband when he’s in love with that...that...” Shannon screamed, pointing a shaking finger at Curt.
Curt wasn’t about to let that insult pass. He smiled nastily. Standing closer to Brian than was strictly necessary, given they were yet to resolve their argument. Curt glared at Shannon, who paled and visibly shrank from him even though she was still near the door. Then she paled even further as Brian finally straightened up and turned his back on her to look at his lover. “Fuck off,” Curt snarled at her, and since she’d seen Curt’s destruction of the studio the day before which had terrified her, she darted back into the house.
Brian smiled at Curt. “Thanks” he wheezed.
“Sure” Curt replied offering Brian a cigarette as he lit another one. “What the hell was that all about?” Curt looked wary and confused, both emotions fighting for dominance on his face.
Brian had decided during his race to get to Curt that Maxwell Demon’s rising star just wasn’t worth the cost of losing his lover. Now all he had to do was convince Curt of this. Easy, Mandy had said. Right, and Brian was going to sing opera. Sure.
Not feeling terribly secure, Brian faced Curt as openly as he could, even as he felt Shannon’s eyes boring into him from somewhere in the house “Can we talk somewhere a little more private?” he asked.
Looking warier than ever, Curt nodded.
Brian tried for a serious expression. It wasn’t easy, since all he wanted to do was kiss Curt. Once Curt had retrieved his bag and finally sent the car away, he caved in to the need -- in part because he knew Shannon was watching but mostly because he just needed to. He was hoping like hell that Curt wouldn’t push him away. As Curt turned towards the house, Brian stepped closer, his heart going a mile a minute with nerves and need. Curt opened his mouth but said nothing, and more importantly, didn’t push Brian away; he allowed him to place a soft, open kiss on his mouth.
When Brian pulled back, he smiled at Curt’s expression which was, he was sure, the same as his. But before either could say anything there was a loud crash as a door was slammed so hard it rattled the windows from somewhere inside the house, startling them both.
Mandy watched from the window as Brian kissed Curt, her heart hurting for them, and then winced as Shannon door-slamming shook the place. As much as she liked the life she lived now, she had for a while wondered if a change might not be in order. Since Curt had entered their lives it hadn’t been the same but she knew it never stayed the same for long and if it hadn’t been Curt it would have been something else. Quite probably Shannon, Mandy realised with something close to disgust. Not liking that one iota, Mandy vowed to find a way to get Brian away from that little slut. Curt and Brian she could deal with, but Brian and Shannon made her sick to her stomach.
Bugger Jerry, this was personal now.

Curt entered the room first. He dropped his bag and in a couple of strides he had Mandy in a bear hug. “You big oaf,” she chided, her face plastered to Curt’s leather coat. “Took you long enough.” Curt laughed but she heard the edge in his voice. They may have kissed but there were clearly still things to deal with, and the further they got away from this place the better.
“Yeah, you know me” he smiled crookedly at her as he pulled back, before he rested his forehead on hers.
Brian came in the room looking troubled and as an after thought went back and closed and locked the door.
“What?” Curt said, seeing his expression.
“How long do you think before Jerry gets here?” Brian asked, fidgeting with the ridiculously large, old-fashioned key in his hands.
“Dunno” Curt said, flopping down on a couch. Mandy shrugged but she had no doubt that Jerry was probably setting an new land speed record for Greater London as they spoke. She smiled to herself when Brian flopped down next to Curt, practically sitting on his lap; whether it was an unconscious gesture due to the very physical nature of their relationship or what, she had no idea, and she doubted he was even aware he’d done it. As soon as Brian sat down Curt automatically shifted, angling his body into Brian’s and resting his arm on the back of the couch, his fingers lightly touching Brian’s shoulder.
She’d noticed early on in the relationship how they were always touching each other. Brian was a touchy person himself and so was Curt, it seemed. Which observation in turn led Mandy to wonder how naive Shannon had been when she first joined the band of misfits that followed Brian around. Or, she thought, perhaps she was in love with Brian by the time Curt entered the scene and she was just blind to all the obvious signals .
Mandy sighed. “I don’t think either of you should be here when Jerry get here.”
Curt grunted his agreement, lighting yet another cigarette.
“Can’t we hole up somewhere for a while?” Brian suggested wistfully, remembering the time he and Curt had run away to a beachside town. It seemed like a lifetime ago now.
“Yeah, and where would that be? “ Curt asked, popping Brian’s daydream like a balloon. The edge had returned to his voice
“Shut up, both of you,” Mandy interrupted. “Argue later. I’ve got an idea.” She pinched one of Curt’s cigarettes and lit it, then looked sternly at both men like a schoolteacher addressing a pair of delinquent students. “Your next concert is when? -- two weeks?”
Brian nodded.
“Fine, then. Why don’t we kill Maxwell Demon?” Mandy said calmly.
Curt and Brian stared at her for a full minute in stunned silence before Curt said, “Jeeze, Mandy, we only had a fight. I don’t want to kill him...” He shifted closer to Brian, suddenly forgetting the fight as the unpalatable thought of Brian dying flashed through his mind.
“I don’t want to die,” Brian whispered, a chill running down his spine
“For fuck’s sake, stop being so bloody melodramatic, both of you! I’m talking about a fake death.” She rolled her eyes at them.
“Christ, you could have said it that way instead, you know,” Brian said accusingly.
Mandy laughed. “The expressions on your faces were worth it.” She laughed harder. Brian and Curt frowned at her before looking at each other. Curt smiled first and then Brian snickered. Shaking his head at Mandy, Curt got up and started pacing, too restless to sit still as Mandy’s idea took hold in his mind. Brian, busy watching the way Curt’s body moved as he paced, wasn’t thinking of anything other than that he wanted Curt in bed. In his bed. Now.
“Why don’t you make some ridiculous press release about having had a dream you get shot or something,” Curt said as one idea after another bounced around his head. “You could tell the media you were fucking aliens and they’d believe you.”
Mandy laughed. “Didn’t you do that last week?” she asked Brian.
Curt stopped dead and stared at Brian. “You said you fucked aliens?”
Brian laughed at Curt’s expression. “Yes”
Curt laughed, shaking his head, thinking he really shouldn’t be surprised, then stopped wondering where the hell he’d been that he hadn’t seen any of that. With Jerry, he though sourly. He’d kept Curt in the studio for nearly three days for one fucking song that wasn’t working...and Curt hadn’t wanted to do the song anyway. He’d hated it.
“So what we need to do,” Mandy said, bringing them back to the here and now, “is shoot Maxwell Demon on stage so everyone sees it. The more the better, and that will be the last time anyone sees Maxwell Demon alive again. We’ve still got a couple of weeks to organise it and I don’t think we should talk about it here.” Mandy said, suddenly remembering Shannon could well be listening at the door. She’d been a bit too quiet since Brian and Curt had kissed.
“True.” Curt agreed. “Lets get a cab and get out of this place.”

Half an hour later and a lot of sneaking around to avoid Shannon, Curt, Brian and Mandy found themselves back at the flat Mandy had found Curt in the night before. Brian’s eyebrows disappeared into his hair as he looked at one of the holes in the wall. He glanced at Curt who flushed. “I was pissed off,” he mumbled around a cigarette.
“Yeah, so I see.”
“Well now we’re here we need to find somewhere we can go where Jerry and Shannon won’t find either of you, because this will be the first place they look.” Mandy said just as the phone rang.
“Speak of the devil,” Curt muttered. They all looked at the phone as if it was going to explode in their faces
Feeling the need to be anywhere but in an apartment Jerry owned, Brian just wanted to go. As far as he was concerned they couldn’t get far enough away. Pity, he thought, that they couldn’t really fly to the moon, although he doubted Pluto was far enough away for him.
They moved out of the hallway and sat down in the kitchen, trying to figure out what the hell to do next, when Brian suddenly remembered a band he’d seen a few times; he was friendly enough with the lead singer, who always wore hats that Curt thought were hilarious.
Five minutes later they had a place to stay, and more importantly it was one neither Jerry or Shannon knew anything about. Brian’s friend Malcolm was over the moon at having the now famous Maxwell Demon staying at his house. Brian hadn’t even mentioned Curt yet. He grinned as he thought of the reaction the pair of them were going to get when they walked in.

Malcolm stood framed in his doorway with his mouth hanging open, making faint strangling noises. His greeting jammed in his throat as he looked from Curt to Brian and back to Curt again. Brian hadn’t said anything about Curt Wild being here as well. He wasn’t sure if he was going to pass out or throw up. He’d been a fan of the Ratts forever and even more a fan of Curt himself.
“Malcolm?” Brian said looking at the young man in amusement
“Shit. Sorry.” Malcolm said snapping out of his fan reaction and moved to one side to let the two men in, his mind still reeling from the idea that he had the two men who had turned the British music scene on its head in his house. Shit, the rest of the band was never going to believe this. Even if he told them they wouldn’t believe him. But they’d be here later and could see for themselves.
Closing the door, he turned. “Do you guys want a drink or something to eat? I haven’t got much in the house. The guys cleaned me out yesterday and I haven’t been to the shops yet...” He trailed off as he realised he was babbling. He cringed inwardly at the amusement on Curt’s and Brian’s faces.
“You all right, man?” Curt asked, speaking for the first time
“Yes!” he squeaked before clearing his throat and trying again. “Yeah,” he said in a more normal voice.
Curt clapped him on the shoulder, laughing. “You sure you don’t mind us invading your house for a few days?”
Mind? Mind! Was Curt out of his own fucking mind? Of course he didn’t mind. “Hell no,” he said. “Stay as long as you like.”
“Thanks.” Curt said, taking his coat off.
Malcolm had no idea why either of them were hiding, although the thought they might be hiding from some specific person made him pause. But he wasn’t about to question the good fortune of having them here, nor was he going to ask, so instead he led them to the biggest room he had in the house. It was a room he never slept in. It had been his parents’ and he just couldn’t bring himself to sleep in what he still saw as their room even though they’d died a good while ago.
“You can have this room. No-one sleeps in it.” Malcolm flushed a bit at having to ask the next question. “Uh, is one bed ok?”
Curt eyed Brian, thinking the same thing himself. They still hadn’t talked about the fight but Curt wasn’t quite so eager to open that can of worms now that he had Brian away from Jerry and Shannon. He inclined his head, silently saying it was fine with him and leaving the decision up to Brian.
Brian’s eyes never wavered from Curt’s as he replied. “It’s fine.”
Feeling like a third wheel in whatever silent conversation Brian and Curt were having, Malcolm excused himself to go pick up the rest of the band, warning both men the house was about to get invaded.

Brian walked into the big, airy room, liking it instantly. It wasn’t over-decorated and had an old-world feel to it that created an almost instant intimacy. Even the threadbare rug on the floor, that had clearly seen better days, added to the atmosphere that was set by the massive four-poster bed. Acutely aware of Curt in the room behind him, Brian wandered around the huge bed thinking he was going to need a map and a compass to find Curt. It had to be the biggest bed he’d ever seen.
His thoughts were all over the place at that moment. He wanted nothing more than to curl up in the middle of the bed with Curt but he wasn’t sure what Curt really wanted, and now they were alone he could feel Curt’s presence more strongly than ever. He turned slowly and found Curt looking at him, his face unreadable. Wondering what was going through his mind, Brian watched Curt turn away and wander around the room, exploring the dresser, picking things up and putting them down almost absently, his mind clearly somewhere other than on the contents of the room before coming to stand next to the bed. His eyes widened at the sheer size of it.
The late afternoon sunlight, dappled by the antique lace curtains, created a warm glow that was echoed in the pale orange paint on the walls. It felt, Brian thought, like the room was made for romance. He snorted to himself, although the room reminded him of one of the romance books his mother continually read. He couldn’t remember who the author was but she wore, Brian thought, an unhealthy amount of pink and more make-up than Jack Fairy. He shuddered mentally at the memory of one of the books he’d sneaked off his mum a few years ago to find out what was so good about them. He couldn’t see what his mother saw in them, other than that the men were attentive to the women. Nothing like his father, so he’d figured that was it, although the images of the men in breeches had turned him on at the time.
Now here he was in a room that his mother would have swooned over, with his lover who had a bemused look on his face as he studied this bed that could have doubled as an aircraft carrier.
Curt looked up from his contemplation of the bed, his gaze meeting Brian’s. All he wanted to do was get back to the place they’d both been mentally when they escaped everything to be together. Last night had hurt him deeply, despite his tough fuck-off attitude. He’d been in love before but there was something different about this one, and he’d been too scared to admit to himself that the one thing that worried him most was that Brian had gotten so lost in the lie of Maxwell Demon and the web Jerry was spinning round him that he wouldn’t be able to see what Curt was offering him. Time, he thought, to find out where they stood as lovers.
Although, he thought, Brian is here so that must mean something. Self-doubt was not something Curt suffered from by and large, but in the past couple of days his ego had taken a fairly heavy beating and he wasn’t feeling anywhere near as confident as he pretended. Mind, Brian had seen straight through the tough attitude to the man Curt really was which had scared him spitless initially; but he came to love that there was at least one person who understood him in the very quick time they’d been together. Brian was probably the first person in a long time that had moved Curt to bother finding out what made him tick.
Slowly Curt approached Brian, almost stalking him, taking in his appearance as he did. His blue hair stuck out haphazardly in every direction and he had shadows under his eyes, a silent testament to the toll last night’s argument had taken, but his eyes were clearer now and he didn’t look away as Curt drew near. Stopping in front of Brian, Curt brought his hand up and he noted absently that it was shaking. He brushed at the dark smudges under Brian’s eyes before tunnelling his right hand through Brian’s hair to cup the back of his head, never taking his eyes from Brian’s. Placing his other hand on Brian’s waist, he urged him f
