| Saturday: Getting Inside |
[Jul. 10th, 2008|10:10 am] |
As it turns out, we can't re-set the door buzzer until September. Entrance to the apartment can be achieved by giving me a call or text (eight five seven two zero seven one zero five zero) when you're at the door - I'll come down and let you in.
Hope to see some of you Saturday! |

| All About Eve at the Brattle on tuesday the 15th |
[Jul. 8th, 2008|10:11 pm] |
Let's all go to the Brattle to see "All About Eve", one of my favorite movies, and a classic.
It's one of the AFI 100 best films, and it's one of the movies Roger Ebert things everyone should watch. Some of the best dialog on screen, and it even has one of Marilyn Monroe's earliest on screen appearances. It's genius, and you get to see it on the medium screen and support a great non-profit at the same time!
Movie starts at 7:30. Let me know ahead of time and get to my house by 5:30pm and I will even make you dinner (pasta and stuff).

| Saturday July 12: Paris, Je T'Aime |
[Jul. 8th, 2008|03:47 pm] |
Just a reminder for the July meet.
What: Movie! Paris, Je T'Aime. When: Starting around 6 Where: 1267 Commonwealth Ave #5, in Allston
We still haven't figured out the buzzer issue, but I'm hoping to get that worked out tonight. |

| Movie time! |
[Jun. 20th, 2008|02:07 pm] |
OK, we have a plan. Saturday July 12, Paris, Je T'Aime, at my and magusdave's place in Allston (1267 Commonwealth Ave #5, right on the B Green Line between Harvard and Griggs, and a block from the 66 stop at Harvard and Comm Ave).
We'll plan to start things around 6, for any of you who will be trying to drive in - there is public parking on Commonwealth Ave that becomes free at 6 PM, but it fills up pretty fast as the evening goes on due to all the bars in the area. It's probably best to carpool in or take the T if you can manage it.
We're trying to get the front door buzzer set up. I'll post the buzzer code or my # once we figure out what the easiest way is to get people upstairs. :) |

| meetup? |
[Jun. 16th, 2008|11:53 am] |
Hi all! The apartment is finally at a place where we can have people over - is there still interest in a meet? We can host either this coming weekend, or the weekend after the 4th - what is better for people?
For movies, we have a number of options. I promised to host a screening of Tetsuo but that is... not for all audiences - still, an option if there is interest. However, at the moment we are thinking either Cloverfield or Paris, Je T'aime. Thoughts? |

| hi! |
[Jun. 9th, 2008|09:29 am] |
Ok, house related things aren't quite where they should be. Meaning, I still lack a couch and an emptied out living room, so I still can't host right now.
However, I'd love it if we could have a meet up sometime in the near future.
Anyone want to be a volunteer host? |

| Sundays near UMB. |
[Apr. 8th, 2008|12:50 am] |
Right, so... some of you guys know me, as I hosted, um, two? movie nights? Unfortunately since I require wheelchair accessibility to get places I can't usually go to movie nights elsewhere... *so* I became a decider!
Here's the idea: I have a ridiculously high Netflix amount since I share it with my housemates. I'm going to split the queues and make one for a theoretical Sunday afternoon-ish movie twice a month at my place. After each movie, we can fiddle with the queue, and then meet up again in 2 weeks (ish)! 24 movies a year, FTW?
There would be no obligations or anything, I just figured the Netflix queue thing makes it all...participatory and stuff.
So far I know joyfulkel is in. If you want to come, leave a comment here and I'll friend you and point you to future posts on my LJ as we firm up details.
Anyway this is the prototype for the idea. I don't want to in any way conflict with bostonmovietime, but I can't get there, so I'm bringing interested parties here!
Give me a poke if you're interested. My place is red line accessible and lots of you have been here before.
(Oy I am so not brief about anything.) |

| just a quick FYI |
[Apr. 7th, 2008|11:56 pm] |
I haven't totally disappeared yet!
I have a new roommate moving in this month, and then I'll be traveling for a couple of weeks next month.
Hopefully, when I return, the apartment will be all set up for me to host a proper movie night. huzzah!
In the meantime, please feel free to hold movies/get-togethers as you wish!
Once life has settled a bit, our schedule will go back to normal. :) |

| Bad Movie Night? |
[Feb. 6th, 2008|01:08 am] |
|
I mentioned earlier that my apartment hosts Bad Movie Nights on a pretty regular basis - I know it's short notice, but we're watching The Brain That Wouldn't Die at my place in Allston Friday. I can promise trauma, screaming, and general hilarity. |

| movie! |
[Jan. 26th, 2008|01:47 pm] |
OK, we have a plan. Even Dwarfs Started Small, Friday Feb. 1, gathering @ my place @ 8 PM. Fair warning - this movie is pretty hard to watch, and if it gets to be too much, there are many options for cleaning the Herzog out of our brains.
Apartment info: 569 Cambridge Street #1 in Allston. The house has a MAPS sign out front - that's the Portugese speakers' association that has offices on the ground floor. We are on the first floor - front door will be open, come in and right up the stairs.
About us: The Geek Girls Apartment has four inmates, not sure how many will be around for this. I'm Nicci (the short one, with curly dark hair). There is Allie (punk grrl, long dark hair), Jamie (curvy, light brown hair), and Rachel (the tall one, bobbed brown hair).
See you Friday! |

| Even Dwarves Started Small |
[Jan. 25th, 2008|10:35 am] |
Hi all,
I'm thinking the time has come for a screening - next week, say Thursday or Friday (Feb. 1 or 2)? My place in Allston? We have a fairly spacious living room, with lots of seating, and the house will provide wine and cheese for snacking.
My apartment is 569 Cambridge St, apt 1, in Allston - right on the 57 bus line, or 5 minutes up Gordon Street from the Warren Street stop on the green B-line. Street parking usually isn't too difficult in this area. Who's in?

| are you ready for some MOVIES! this saturday at 6pm? |
[Jan. 7th, 2008|10:48 am] |
How do you guys feel about something earlier on saturday so those of us who are sports nerds can watch the pats game? (you're welcome to stay over and watch that too).
Kickoff is at 8, so if we did a movie that started around 6, that would give enough time.
I have mystery men and shoot em up at home. gosh only knows what will come next off of my blockbuster cue.
let me know what you think |

| Introductions |
[Jan. 7th, 2008|12:42 am] |
Hi! I'm a graduate student in the sciences at BU, living in Allston. My film tastes are wide-ranging... some might say "eclectic"... some might say "scarring". My film collection ranges from classics to bizarre sci-fi and classic horror. I have an encompassing and irrational love for the B-movie.
I hold regular Bad Movie Nights at my place in Allston - recent features include Black Sheep, Ankle Biters, Slither, The Stuff, Pterodactyl, and Alone in the Dark. |

| While we're introducing ourselves |
[Jan. 6th, 2008|07:49 pm] |
Hello, I'm also from Brighton, big film buff but I don't actually own many. Mostly a Netflix whore.
Favorite genres include: Samurai movies, Mind-fuck flicks (Cronenberg, Lynch). I like to mix it up, some fluff with some content. For example, some recent movies I've enjoyed, La Haine, Samurai: Reincarnation, Sex and Lucia and Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. I really want to see that Werner Herzog movie about midgets.
I hope to actually make it out to a movie night once I get over this cold, and stop being a slacker ;) |

| An introductory post |
[Jan. 6th, 2008|03:09 pm] |
I don't think I ever introduced myself, so here goes:
I'm Dan, a film nerd attending Emerson for grad school. I currently own 300+ films on DVD, ranging from mainstream Hollywood to weird horror to documentary. If you'd like informal reviews of everything from Japanese documentaries to bad action movies, keep an eye on my journal. :-) |

[Jan. 6th, 2008|02:45 pm] |
Hello, ::waves:: I joined this group a while ago, but I was busy with work and school, so I never got around to introducing myself (plus, I'm pretty shy). My name is Jennie and I live in Brighton. I love watching movies and I have a decent sized DVD collection with films such as Say Anything, Superman, The Exorcist and Intolerable Cruelty. I'm also a librarian and can pretty much get any obscure movie that's out there. Well, I hope I get a chance to watch movies with this group soon. :-) |
