Hi again!

I took Bella to the vet and he explained that the bites on her lady bits were from BLACK GNATS. Since I recently moved to MN, the bug situation here is one I am not used to (I'm from the freaking deserts of arizona!)

Anyway, we left with some benedryl and antibiotics. Thanks for all your guy's advice and reassurance!

Hey everyone -

I noticed that bella has what appears to be an allergic reaction going on in her umm...lady bits. It doesn't seem to bug her at all right now, but it doesn't look pleasant at all! They almost look like zits or something.

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else out here and to see what action they took.

It almost looks like she squatted down to pee in an ant pile or on a weed she was allergic to. I've already taken action like I would with any other allergic reaction, but it hasn't been long enough to notice any difference. Again, she doesn't seem like it's bugging her at all.

Pics behind the cut for reference...and her own privacy! )

Thanks for your time, and if it doesn't clear up by tomorrow, i'll take her to the vet.

Porkchop's our Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix... he's 2 years old and a bundle of energy. This makes watering the lawn difficult, but at least he gets to release some energy!!!

Out BT, Maisey, loves the bath, but her sister Allie the (long-haired) dachshund and friend Scout the pug weren't so keen on the idea. I love the post bath romp.

Albus and I have been absent for a while...Albus has been sleeping a lot and I've just been way busy.  He went 6 years with no ear hematomas at all.  This past year he's had surgery on one ear and had 3 hematomas in the other ear.  His latest resulted in a drain being placed in his hematoma to allow it to drain for a couple of weeks.  I couldn't resist showing this picture of him looking very unhappy with the world.  BTW he had blood all over him and me at the vet.  I looked like I'd been in a bar fight or something from him slinging it on me.

Original Article HERE

I found this link via my Tumblr account and thought I'd share it with people who have pets. It's apparently a "quiet recall" of Nutro pet foods. the link itself shows a multitude of letters from pet owners who have had ill effects while using the food - some have even received notification that their foods were being recalled.

Hey all. Its been a long time since I've posted about Bruin.  He's about 7 and a half now. He had his annual visit the other day and his blood work came back ok except for one enzyme, the one that has been known to cause Cushing's Disease. Right now the doctor said he's not too worried; it could be that Bruin's got an infection, he's forming arthritis in this knees, he could just have bad teeth...all these can form a jump in that enzyme. It should be in the 130; his is 411.  He goes back in a month for more blood work.

I suppose my question is, has this happened to anyone else's Boston (or other dog's) and if so, what was the outcome? And if they did develop Cushing's, what's done for it?

Thanks from myself, and from Bruin. I'm sure if he were with me at work, he'd give you all a big slobbery kiss!

:-(
Hello again. So violet had another seizure...and of course i'm a debbie downer and have to write in here. I hate writing these b/c I'm sure they're annoying, I just feel so helpless and sick to my stomach. Of course her vet is closed on Thursdays, so I'll be calling first thing Friday to move up her annual exam. I'm praying she doesn't have another one tonight, but I'm assuming she'll have to be put on epilepsy meds now....I just hate this. I know no one wants this, but I'm just so emotional over my baby and I hate this sick feeling I always get. I was optimistic that it might be a once a year thing, but now I'm afraid it'll be more often, but I just don't get it. I just wish I knew what was really going on ::sigh:: I'm afraid the phenobarbital will just hurt her liver and what if they don't get the dosage she needs right the first time??

I'm sorry I always post this in here, I just feel that this is the only place that i can be understood...

April is the epitome of "badass". She was rescued from the pound the day before she was scheduled to be put to sleep, is now blind in one eye, and sometimes walks with a gimp. Total badass and she knows it. :)

Hi everyone!
Just found/joined the board. My name is Patti, and I am loved by a 7yr. old Boston Terrier (I love him to PIECES!) named Buster, and we just added a new baby girl, Luna, a pretty little red girl that just turned 5 mos. Not real sure what goes on here yet (need to look through the posts more thoroughly) but I wanted to say hey!

I just started blogging (self hosted Wordpress) and invite you all to check it out and join in....it's new, and I could use some feedback/participation, the url is in my sig.  I also offer LOTS of free email postcards...the majority of which are Boston Terrier cards (and you can even upload your own pic if you prefer).

Had a Darcyanna scare today. when she and Bebo came in from the back yard this morning, Darcy was drooling like the faucet. I checked the back yard for what she could have eaten and found an ancient 'Spray'n'Wash' stick and about had a heart attack. One vet visit later, it looks like she's going to be fine, but I still feel like locking her in a box and never letting her out again.

I do have some photos of her and Bebo's fun day out at Beluga point!

Picture Time! )

On Saturday I got my first Boston terrier! He's 4 years old and he has a wonderful personality. He loves playing with his stuffed duck and going out to the park.
It's only been 2 days but we've both bonded with eachother. He follows me everywhere and seems very interested in everything I'm doing. He's very curious and likes to go out into the woods, or parks sniffing at anything and everything he can.

It can be a little frustrating taking him out to use the bathroom, because he never just urinates in one spot. He saves it so he can mark his territory on anything that comes out of the ground. So I walk him for about 30 minutes until he's clearly run out of piss and is just lifting his leg out of habit.

He's extremely well behaved. He doesn't bark or growl and when inside usually just lounges around where I am, sometimes investigating the other rooms since he's still new and adjusting.

Anyway! Enough of that, here are some pictures of my new son, Kolidikus. :)
