FIC: Timeline 1/1
Title: Timeline
Characters: Booster and Shel Carter, Rip Hunter, Skeets

Author's Notes: Slightly spoilery for Booster Gold: 100,000,000. Based on a joking comment I made in the issue's Scans Daily post.
"SKEETS!" Booster shouted as his security-bot took a direct hit from the evil security-bot Maxmillion, and Rip dove to catch the falling Skeets, disappearing into the timestream.
"I'm really beginning to get annoyed by these guys, Mickey." Michelle used the magnetic powers provided by the Goldstar suit to throw Maxmillion hard against the wall.
"You and me both, Sis." Booster was busily punching the Ultra-Humanite, so he didn't get a good look when Rip and yet another Supernova appeared out of the timestream.
He did hear the guy's cool tagline. "I got an upgrade. And this is not the droid you're looking for." as he fried Dad's annoying little bot-bud with a blaster. The Time Stealers retreated. Michelle had gotten a turn at kicking the snot out of Dad, so Booster considered it a win. For now. Until the next time they showed up. He faced the other Supernova.
"Daniel?" He asked, confused. He seemed shorter than Daniel.
"No, Booster. It's me." The man pushed his cowl back, revealing dark hair and brown eyes, and the familiarity of his voice without the electronic distortion sunk in.
"Skeets?"
"I couldn't repair him this time." Rip explained. "So we went to the forty-seventh century, where AIs have the option to be downloaded into blank vat-grown bodies."
"You're human?"
"Wowzer. You look good as a guy, Skeets." Michelle was looking him up and down with an appreciative smile.
"And the ears should help keep my growing collection of hats on my head. Now that I have a head."

"I do apologize for chiding you on your inability to concentrate on history studies whenever Ms. Collins was in the room. There are so many automatic functions...urges...instincts...that I do not have access to."
"Welcome to the Human Condition, Skeets."
"They're just modified sudoriferous glands surrounded by fat deposits. Why do I want to TOUCH them?"
"'Cause you chose a male body..." Booster followed Skeets' gaze across the timelab to Michelle's breasts. "HEY! That's my sister you're lusting after. This could not get more disturbing, Skeets."
"I believe if I had chosen a female body or I was gay, I would find you equally sexually attractive."
"...I was wrong. More disturbing. Right there, that was more disturbing."
Learning to be human was fascinating, and Rip, Michael and Michelle helped him through the process as much as they could. Eating. Drinking. Sleeping. Sleeping and dreaming was terrifying. He'd always assumed it was something akin to shutting down for storage.
The changes in perception of time. The things the body did by itself, without conscious commands.
Like this.
He swallowed. His mouth was dry, so he swallowed, to encourage the production of saliva.
Booster and Rip had left in the Timesphere, carrying large butterfly nets. He's learned not to ask. Michelle'd stayed behind to keep him company. And now here they were. Sitting very close together on the couch in the timelab's small recreation room, in front of the tv. She was running a hand lightly over his bare arm.
He likes being touched. Skin is a much more efficent sensor than he'd ever would have thought.
Kissing proves to be quite pleasant as well.
"You don't have to do this."
"I want to."
"Really, Michelle. You've been very kind in teaching me...."
"Skeets...I know it was longer for you two. But for me...you just came to rescue me in Dimension X...got me free of that machine draining the suit's power. You did. My hero."
"Booster is going to deactivate me. With a baseball bat."
"Mickey threatens all my boyfriends with that."
Hormones were flowing into his bloodstream, and arteries were dilating, and it was all very confusing and wonderful.

Daniel wandered out to the living room and found Mike on his couch, halfway through a six-pack of Lit Beer. "I thought Rip had you on the wagon after that thing with the Flashes."
"My robot got my sister pregnant."
"I hope you aren't looking for some ancestral words of wisdom, because all I got is 'Dude, that's messed up."
Mike handed him a beer.
Daniel took a sip, and ventured, "You want me to hold him so you can hit him?"
"Actually, I'm here to invite you to the wedding."
It was a beautiful ceremony. Daniel gave the bride away, Rose was the only bridal attendant. The officiant was a little surprised that the groom only had one name, and was taking his wife's. But hey, superhero weddings weren't exactly common in Pittsburgh.
There was, surprisingly, no attack during the wedding. Rip noticed Jonar Carter lurking in the back of the hall. But guardedly allowed him to watch his daughter's wedding.

Rip was dead. Booster finished the last of the multiple verifications to get into the locked safe, as he'd been instructed to. There were files, an encoded and dedicated laptop....and an envelope, with his name on it.
Michael. If you're reading this, then my death was a moment of solidified time, beyond temporal retrieval and I am dead. I'm also...not.
You knew me as Ripley Hunter. You also knew that was not my real name, to protect my identity from 'the bad guys.' I now reveal myself to you, Uncle Mike.
I'm Bixton Carter. BX-10. The son of BX-9 'Skeets' in his human body, and your twin sister Michelle Ellen Carter. I clarify in case of temporal disruption related to my death. The first thing you'll need to do...
...well. I know you. The first thing you'll need to do is go check on me in my crib. Go ahead. I'm sorry, but you cannot tell my parents who I grew up to be. I hope they know how much I loved them. I tried to show it as much as possible. One more of my secrets you'll have to keep.
I once told you that you'd train the greatest Time Master history has ever know. Noone ever accused me of false modesty. Read the files I've left, as soon as you feel up to it. And don't mourn me too much, Uncle Mike.
