Author's Notes: Ha, I knew there was more to this story! And...there may very well be even more. I'm not sure yet. Anyway. Recap of the previous summary: "a CBR article about a HeroesCon panel mentioned 'a dead character will be brought back for good in an upcoming issue of Booster Gold.' [info]phoenixfire_lia pointed out that the 'only dead characters Booster actually cares about are Ted and Shel.'"

Definitions Of Love II

"Okay first off, is there a body?"

"I'm sure there--"

"I didn't ask if you were sure. I asked if there was a body. Did you see it?"

"I...No. Batman showed us his g--Ted's goggles." Booster swallowed and looked away. "They were cracked. Ted always bitched about how much it cost to replace his goggles." He gave a weak chuckle before immediately sobering. "They had blood on them. And...they--They had..."

With a wordless sound of distress, Shel wrapped her arms around her brother and pulled him close. Booster leaned into the hug readily, pressing his face to her shoulder and sucking in a deep, shaky breath.

"His stupid, smartass brain," Booster gasped. "That's how Batman knew for sure: there were important bits of his brain on those damn goggles. The kind a person can't walk around alive without. Rip...he said that's why it wouldn't work."

Holding her distraught brother, Shel narrowed her eyes as she rubbed his back. She was going to have a few words with Mr. Hunter about breaking Mikey's heart.

"I know I've said this before, Mike, but...you need another brain."

Booster froze. Then he leaned back to look Shel in the eye. He broke into a huge grin, the kind she remembered from the rare times when they teamed up together for mischief.

"That's too crazy not to work!"

Shel rolled her eyes and grinned back. "You're hopeless without me."

Huh, I thought it was more or less obvious. Note to self: try to remember everyone isn't living in my head.

Guess I'll just have to write a third part to clarify. ;)

*nods* yeppers, here come the Carters (in stolen, brightly-colored spandex) to save the day. Or, at least the important parts. Okay, just Ted. And when Shel gets through with her speech to Ted ("you break my brother's heart and I'll break you"), I'm sure that Ted's goinn to need lots of convincing that this whole 'coming back from the dead' thing is worthwhile. Mike better be rested up for the ordeal!
