At first glance, it looked like a random dollar bill. So I figured, "Hey! Cool! Unexpected free money!" and I went to go check it out and stuff it in my pocket. Then I noticed it was a FIFTY dollar bill. Yeah, Celine Dion is pretty psyched, too. And I did something stupid. Instead of just pocketing the damn fifty dollar bill like any normal red-blooded American in this stupid financial crisis...I got paranoid that the security cameras at work would pick up on this and this would ultimately get me in trouble. This happened to one of the baggers a few months ago, believe it or not. And inevitably, that sort of shit would happen to me if I ever attempted such a move. SO....being the honest, nice, altruistic person that I am....I took the fifty dollar bill to the service center and turned it in. Diane told me that if no one claimed it in thirty days, I'd get it. I KNOW, right?! But then some stupid teenager came and claimed it within a half hour, saying that his mom sent him to go shopping with the money. They had to go in the security office and check the tapes (see?) and make sure the kid's claim was valid, especially with what time he entered in the store. And Adam seemed pretty reluctant to just let the kid have the money, buuuut......yeah. I COULD'VE HAD FIFTY BUCKS, DAMMIT. FIFTY BUCKS. I could use fifty bucks, man! But I did the right thing, right? If I hadn't been at work, I would've pocketed it. Man, I hope what goes around comes around and I get something good in return. Karma, ya know? Knowing my luck lately, probably not.
