About:

Welcome! I started this community as a part of grad school class project, but it's something that I would like to continue for informal research purposes. I also want to get people talking about using book clubs to help students become better critical readers and thinkers.

Before you begin posting in the community, I was hoping you would answer a few questions:

1. Do you see a gang problem in your school or community? How has it affected your life or your work?

2. Does your school have a literacy-based or other gang-prevention program? If so, how successful has it been? If not, what kind of program would you like to see?

3. Do you have any experience with extracurricular book clubs? Tell us a little about it.
