Eight books
When I browse books, though, I always write down in a list the books that sound interesting, that I want to read reviews of before I decide to get. Some of these I've written down quite some time ago and I'm almost positive I won't see these books again, but never mind that. I wanted to share the list I have, just in case anyone had read it and can offer a personal recommendation (or warning!). For some of them, I don't even remember anymore what the book is about :p

  2. Memoirs of a Muse, Lara Vapnyar
  3. The Truth About Ruby Valentine, Alison Bond
  4. Notes on a Scandal, Zoe Heller
  5. Windflower, Nick Bantock
  6. The Republic of Trees, Sam Taylor
  7. Pemberley, Emma Tennant
  8. The Sultan's Seal, Jenny White

Feel free to rant/rave/meh on the list or any book in the list. ;) ETA: I also posted about this in my writing/literary blog if anyone feels like commenting there. :)

I also caved and bought Wicked, which some love and some hate. :)

I read Pemberley a looooong time ago. I seem to remember that although it is of course nowhere near as good as P&P, it is quite an amusing little glance into the what-might-happens. Fairly predictable, but quite a nice read as long as you don't go into it with very high expectations.

Ooh, interesting. I'd never really been sure of what I feel about books like these. I've seldom read fanfic (*hides from people and, well, fandom*) and this is sort of a glorified fanfic, right (since it's in book form yey?)?

Hmm, maybe I'll wait for another one who might rec it and then give it a try. :D I'd been wondering what good P&P-based books there are, after all.
