...black semi-permanent body paint called Jagua or Harquus?

Am interested in getting some but wondered if there was a difference between the two.

    Thanks!

    Some recent work.
I've been trying out some new techniques. Any pointers are useful!!

I am doing my first full on bodypaint session this saturday and I need it to stay through an evening of dancing. I use wolfe brothers paints. Would you suggest hair spray or baby powder or a special settting in spray? And if it's a special kind....what do you use? And if it's hairspray does it matter what type?

Bodypainting at Saints & Sinners Fetish Night
    Friday, 9 May 2008 * 8 pm -1:30 am * THe Underground * 110 North Nevada Ave * Colorado Springs, CO

It was another fantastic evening for body paint artists Leaf and Doug of the Tree Leaves' Oracle's continual appearance at Colorado Springs Fetish Night @ the Underground. Me and Doug spent last night coming up with some designs and stencils for the airbrush, and due to my crazy work schedule, didn't really get a chance to pull together Saints n Sinners theme hand paint designs till just a few hours before the event. We were geared up and out the door by 8 pm, arriving at the Underground around 8:20 to setup our booth. Prior, I spent an hour and a half coming up with some kind of freaky design for myself and decided to go with a priestly "Hell Boy" comic-demon character. We also went with an experiment of black liquid latex on the back to see if we could capture and preserve a design painted on it. We had hoped to hit Zeezo's costume shop enroute to stock up on blacks, reds, and dark blues. My stock of hand-paint watercolor and acryllic was low. Also after a mishap with a spirit gum spill last event, I needed to get some more gum. Out of time we went with what we had. Doug doing the airbrush and me doing the hand paint. Last night I received some first lessons from Doug in the use of the airbrush and will be taking on that avenue soon as I experiment and play with the medium. Our experimentations with liquid latex hit a new threshhold of understanding as of this night as well. Turns out Liquid latex has a rubber-stench that's not all that pleasant, so will have to experiment with some new applications with perhaps a body spray application on top of it, or mixing in essential oils to the latex. But the preservation of the latex painting Doug airbrushed on my back came out fantastic. After some experimenting with this, we'll be pursuing it more. I was very impressed with Doug's stencils he came up with, and patterns for the airbrush as well. The airbrush part of the booth was the most popular for the evening, whereas in the past the hand painting had attracted more. Looking forward to the exploration and incorporation of all these mediums, and narrowing down success with the latex. A last minute bodypainting request as we were closing down the booth turned out to be one of our best works of art yet. Fabulous work Doug!

    Faerie Paint
Faeries and body painting keep on colliding in my head. The other day this one flew in the window, landed on my art box, and insisted on being painted. She wouldn't leave me alone until I got out the paints and the brush for her, but then I guess she decided it would be a self-portrait I think because I couldn't get that brush away from her....

    Square Spiral

X-posted from my own journal, I have some photos from one of my recent body painting sets. It seemed to me that it deserved a wider audience.

This one is modelled by my friend Debbie, who I worked with once before, years ago, and who, prior to her coming over to be painted, I hadn't seen in a year or so. I had been telling her about a design I had come up with for a very slight girl some months earlier (who then flaked on me), and how I hadn't been able to find another model suitable for it. Debbie pointed out that she was very light herself, and voulenteered to model this design for me. Indeed, her assessment of her own frame was if anything an understatement, but this proved no obstacle for me, since - as I have stated before - I'm growing to like working with a good variety of body types more and more.

So, this one was very loosely inspired by the facial tattoos of the Maori , which I have always adored. I wanted to create a design which was symmetrical in a number of places, and in all other places ... well, you can see for yourself. I think the effect is a neat one. Obviously, this design is a bit of a departure for me, in that it leaves a great deal more bare skin than any other set I've done to date, but in the quest to always do something new with each new set I do, such departures ought to be more the norm than the exception.

I don't know what more there is to say, but...

    Tree/Dryad
I did a this body painting this week for an awards show.. the theme for the event was "enchanted forest" and the concept was to do a tree.. but she turned out rather like a dryad/goddess. I'm very happy with it! yay!
