Hey guys,
I write for online magazine Portrait- www.portraitmagazine.net and am planning on doing a feature on BoB. I was interested in getting fan feedback about the event and that's where you guys come in. If you are interested I'm looking for comments on the event overall, what the actors were like, what it was like meeting other fans, what it was like meeting yourfave actors - a comment in relation to any of those would be awesome. If you are interested just leave your comment on this post as well as your first name, surname, and country.
I'll select the comments that fit best with my feature and you'll probably have til thursday/friday of this week. (sorry for the late/short notice). feel free to gush as much as you like - it'll give me more material to work with and i'll just select various parts out of it.
hopefully this makes sense, if not just comment on this post and i'll try my best to clarify. it make take me a while to replybut i will reply.

cheers!
- Angela

p.s. - apologies to mods if this needed to be tagged, thesehotel computers are really awkward to use!

Hey everyone,

I just got my stewarding schedule and I was wondering about other people stewarding. What's your schedule like? And do you like it? This is mine:

Mandy MD Friday MainDoor 22:00 - 00:00

Mandy MD Sunday Photo Ops 09:00 - 13:00

Can someone tell me if this is a good schedule? I mean, except for the obvious "oh man, that's early on Sunday" part? I kinda like doing the Photo ops (more chances for contact with the guests!), though I have no idea what duties would entail.

As I'm sure most of you are aware, Francis Capra will now be appearing at Breakout Beyond next weekend, along with Jason Dohring and Ryan Hansen. We already have a fan project in the works for Jason and I believe someone is organizing a project for Ryan. (You'll probably hear more about that from the KB fan project organizers as I believe we will be presenting the Invisible Children donation to him, at the very least, for both KB and himself as they're intimately involved with the Invisible Children Charity.) I will be organizing the fan project for Francis and since we have a limited amount of time before people leave for England and before the convention, I'll need your submissions ASAP (preferably before Tuesday, but Wednesday morning at the latest as I fly out Thursday) or for you to bring them with you, as I'd like it to be finalized by that Friday night. I have purchased an 8.5 x11 scrapbook and people can either email me (rowanceleste at yahoo dot com) with pictures and/or letters. I'll also bring some sharpies for people to sign it on Friday (most likely afternoon if you guys are there, as I arrive early on Friday). If you're sending me a large file, please use megaupload or sendspace, etc. Also, if anyone has great pictures of Francis's tattoos or can get me pictures, that would be fantastic, as I would like to decorate the outside of his fan book with pictures of his tattoos as they are meaningful to him.

P.S.
Kristen will not be attending the three day conventione Breakout Beyond in London. This is what was posted at the Starfury forums.

---------------------------------------------------
I have been informed that sadly Kristen Bell is no longer able to attend BREAKOUT BEYOND. Her filming schedule on the film she is currently working on, WHEN IN ROME, sadly conflicts with the event and as a result of this work commitment she has had to cancel her appearance.

I am working on trying to bring Ms Bell to the UK at a future date.

I have been in contact with various other VM cast members over the past few months, so should be able to arrange a replacement guest within the next day or so.

I can appreciate that many will be dissapointed by this unfortionate turn of events, but unfortionately cancelations due to work is a risk each time I book a big name guest for an event (and in the past few months Kristen has become extremely in demand as an actress). However, I am committed to presenting an excellent VM guest line up, and will endeavour to find replacements from VM that ensures all attendees still have an excellent time at the event.

As we always clearly advertise, guests commit to attending conventions subject to their acting work commitments. This means that if they get a role in a film or TV series that conflicts with the convention, they will have to cancel their appearance at the convention. They are actors first and foremost, and it would be unreasonable to expect them to jeopardise their acting career to attend a convention.

Sean Harry
---------------------------------------------------------------

To donate, you must set up a Paypal account, and send your donation to kbfanproject@googlemail.com. All payments through Paypal are 100% secure, and your bank details are not seen by anyone.

- Or: You can pledge an amount to our email address and we’ll send you a bill (via Paypal) with a bank number for that amount. You transfer that money to that bank number and that’s it! No Paypal account needed.

- Or: You can also send a check directly to Invisible Children via snail mail. Please attach a note saying its from the Kristen Bell fan project. That way they know it’s from us and we can also track the amount of money we donated in total. Here’s the address: Invisible Children, 2705 Via Orange Way, Suite B, Spring Valley, CA 91978, USA. Please make the check out in USA currency.

Deadline:

June 13th. We would like to present Kristen with a receipt of the donation during Breakout Beyond convention in London, June 13-15.

Why Invisible Children?
Invisible Children is a large international movement, which fits the international character of the fanbase. Moreover, Invisible Children is an organisation that really moves people. Giving children a way to get educated instead of kidnapped to join a child army - that is simply fantastic.

This is what Invisible Children says about our idea:

“I wanted to follow-up on this exciting idea! Kristen is a wonderful supporter of ours,
and I'm so glad she has inspired others to make a difference.
If you have any questions about Invisible Children or how to get the
donation to us, please don't hesitate to email.
Thanks so much!
Carolyn

Director, Communications
Invisible Children, Inc.”

If you have any questions, you can email us at kbfanproject@googlemail.com

Thank you so much everyone!

Eva, Kirsty, Mandy and Rai

www.fanforum.com/f214

The sign-ups for the Jason gift project for BoB closed over a week ago. I'm sorry for taking so long to get you guys the details you need. I just bought the scrapbook and now we're all set to go! Onto the details.

Scrapbook entries
Scrapbook entries can be anything. You could:
-Write a letter.
-Write a poem
-Write a story
-Draw a picture
-Make fanart
-Make a collage
-Make a fanvideo (of Vm clips/Josef clips/whatever clips or of yourself talking to Jason) burn it on cd and send it to Andrea (her contact details are below). You can make a little intro letter to go with that and we'll put both the cd and the letter in on the page that's reserved for you
-Make a story in pictures
-Draw a comic
-Write a limerick
-Make a Jason related puzzle
-So much more.....

You can submit every kind of letter (in a word document, plain text, handwritten but scanned in, or even an image) but I prefer to get everything for the scrapbook via email, so that we don't have to do all the cutting/pasting at the con. So if you would like to send in a handwritten letter for the book: just scan it in and send it via email :)

The book itself
I'm sure you would like to know what the scrapbook sizes are. It's 8.5 by 7 inches. Not that big, I know. But it does have more pages than we need, so if you need more room - let us know and we'll figure something out! The book has 40 pages, to be exact. Some pics to give you guys an idea.

The front of the book
The front 'art' (which says: 'Scrapbook' in Dutch) is temporary and easily changed. And it will be changed. To do this properly I would like your help! If someone wants to donate a Jason art or fan picture, please email them to us! The idea is to decorate the front and the back of the book with fan pictures of Jason. So either you are a fan who took a pic of Jason, or you are in the pic with Jason. Again, we would love your help to make the book more pretty.

Gifts
Jason will also be getting a package with gifts from us. We thought it was fun to add an international theme to the gifts. So you can give him something from your home country, so he knows that he has fans from all over the world. That is not a rule, you can ofcourse also send in your Josef themed, Jason themed or Logan themed gifts. As long as the gifts can fit into a mailbox and don't weigh to much, everything goes!

The list:
afrocurl (roz)
Mandy-J (mandy)
Motylik20 (eva)
Spikes spark (andrea)
rowanlove (anita)
alee23 (angela)
Tiguhgirl (jen)
Princess Orchid (lucie)
jasondohringfan (LJ)
fire_fly_stare_ (LJ)
101randomwords (LJ)
xhoney_bee (LJ)
candlewaxdreams (LJ)
skyroom80 (LJ)
danceprincess20 (LJ)
bkell13 (LJ)
vmarssaaddict (LJ)
freezing_82 (Eleanora)
pinkpaisley (yvon)

Are you supposed to be on the list, but you're not? Leave a comment and we'll add you.

How to get your stuff to us!
-Gifts: email Andrea at andrea.sewrey (at) homecall.co.uk and she will give you a snail mail address.
-Scrapbook entries: you can send those to jdgiftproject (at) gmail.com

Deadline
The deadline for your scrapbook entries is May 25th.
Please make sure your gifts will be at Andrea's before June 10th.

For the most recent information visit the thread at Fan Forum

Thanks for signing up everyone!
Jason Dohring Breakout Beyond Gift Project

I come with news about the JD gift project!

Last year, Sam (sunnyringo here, palegreen on FF) organised this great gift project for Jason, which he liked very much. This year, we'll do it again. For the people who hadn't had a chance to contribute last year. Or just want to write him again, make him something else or give him another gift. Because why wouldn't you, right? Jason is the nicest and most humble person, who made us love characters we weren't originally supposed to love. That says something about his skills! Most of the planning and updates on the project will be in the thread over at Fan Forum.

Who's doing this?

The gift project is being organised and will be handed over to Jason by (in alphabetical order) Andrea (spikes spark on FF), Eva (motylik), Mandy (smokinmilkmaid) and Roz( afrocurl ).

Scrapbook

The first thing we will be giving him is a scrapbook which we'll all be contributing too. Everyone who signs up gets to fill one page with whatever you like: a letter, graphic, drawing, origami, you name it. If you can think of it and it can fit on a page, you can put it in. The front and back cover will be decorated with pictures of Jason with fans (either taken of Jason or you with Jason) you can send in. Mandy will be in charge of putting the entries into the book and decorating the front and back. Eva is the one that will help with any decorating emergencies when we get together in London.

Little Gifts

You can also send us your own little personal gifts for Jason. That can be something that represents your country. Or shows your love for Jason/his work. Or both. We will put all of them in a nice gift basket of some sort and present the gifts to him together with the book. Andrea has been gracious enough to supply a forwarding address and will bring the gifts to BoB. To make sure she doesn't have to take an extra suitcase to bring the gifts in, we do ask you to only send small things. It has to fit in the mailbox and/or an envelope. Please look at last year's roundup of gifts for some examples. And remember: everything that Sam mentions in that thread has been given to Jason already.

Taking part

If you want to take part in the project, let us know here or pm afrocurl . She will add you to the list on FF. We need to know how many people want to sign up so that we know how many pages the book has to have.

Beakout Beyond may be your 151st convention. Then you can probably skip this post ;) It could also be your first, or maybe you need a refresher of all the rules/regulations/tips etc. That's what this post is for.

I will try to put as much practical information as possible. The con leaflet will probably answer a lot of questions. As will the experiences of other posters. I also added some other info I thought would come in handy.

General info
*Here on the Starfury website

Did you creditcard payment/ ticket order go through okay? No confirmation email?
*Don't worry. With Sean (Starfury's boss), you can expect everything worked out with the charging if you don't get an email from him. He doesn't send confirmations, but he does email when something doesn't go right. The tickets get send in batches, so it could take some time before you get them, especially when you're in a foreign country.

For the people who don't have their tickets yet, here's all the information from the leaflet. Click to read.

More information about stewarding:
*From the convention stewards coordinators

Hi,
Just to let you know what is likely to be expected of you if you volunteer as a stewards.

Firstly, just to let you know, you still need to buy a ticket for the event. I know this sounds obvious but we have had some questions asked about this.

You will be asked to help for about 6 hours over the weekend, this will most likely be split into a couple of hours each day or three hour shifts over a couple of days.
The reason for this is so that there can be a spread of workloads as also we can try to enable you to see or do all the things you'd like to do over the weekend

A few examples of Duties are below, just to give you a taste :-
Hall Duties - This may require you to check IDs of those entering the hall, checking phones remain off in the hall (this can cause major problems for the Mics if these remain on)
Photo Session - Queue Control, making sure people are queuing for the right guest, not creating a fire hazard by blocking exits etc..
Autographs - Queue Control.. Post its, checking correct items are going to be signed or personalised (if the guests are).. Doors, ensuring correct attendees are going through.. Bags, looking after bags as attendees get their things signed.
There are loads of sections and loads of roles but this is just a taster..

The Perks :-
For the talks, the first two rows in the main hall are always reserved for the disabled and off-duty stewards - ideal if you want to get a better view of the guest or take photos.
If you are on duty during the autograph sessions or photo sessions we operate a 'get out of jail free' proceedure, enabling you to jump the majority of the queue, get what you need and return to your duties as quick as possible.
For some reason when you put on the stewards badge people do graviate towards you and this is an ideal opportunity to make new friends.

With this in mind, are you still interested?

If so please rely back and we'll ask you some further details so that we can put you somewhere you might enjoy working.

If you are not interested please can you also reply back, lettting us know as this will enable us not to chase you up when we get closer to the events.

Many thanks

Experiences from other posters who went to a Starfury convention:
*Mandy- went to Breakout last year
(Want to share your recaps? Great, thanks! Just give a link to it in a comment and I'll add it)

Gift projects for Jason and Kristen for BoB:
*Fan forum/LJ gift project for Kristen can be found here
*Fan Forum/LJ gift project for Jason can be found here. You can still sign up for that one!

Need a roommate?
*We have a post for that here

Traveling to another London airport and need to get to Heathrow?
*There are transferbuses that go from airport to airport. More info about costs and duration of the trip here at Londontoolkit.

Still have questions after reading this post?
Roommate or Flight-buddy needed?

So I am not 99 percent sure that I am going to the convention. I really, really want to go, but my travel buddies are still trying to get things together on their end. I found a relatively reasonable flight online, so I've given them until tomorrow to decide as I don't want flights prices to go up too high. I'll be flying from NYC or Newark (depending on where I can get the best price) and was wondering if anyone might be flying from the area or possibly looking for a roommate for the convention. I'm a super nice girl and totally excited about the chance to go to this. I've heard that other people might be in the same boat as me, hopefully we can use this thread to help each other out in this regards.

Over at Fan forum we're organising a fan book plus gifts for Kristen. You can read more about that here There will also be one for Jason, but that's still in the setting up phase.

We had a plan to decorate the front of the book with a map of the world where we pinpoint the countries where we all are from. So therefore the big question: where are you from?

EDIT: I'm from the Netherlands :)

So I thought it would be nice to know how many LJ people will be at BoB, maybe we can aven arrange to meet up.

But first: Will you be there? I will. My ticket is booked. Now I need a room and a flight and I'm all okay.

BTW: does anyone know how to make a sticky post for a non-personal journal?
