The Making Of Satan's Children Jun. 8th, 2009 @ 08:18 pm
[info]smallerdemon
The trailer for this keeps showing up on Something Weird on demand, and it does look remarkably whacked. It reminded me much of some of the 4 AM Tim League showings we have weirded our way through back in the day.

I found a GREAT behind the scenes look at it from someone that was a camera man on it: http://www.big13.net/Satans%20Children/making_of_satans_children.htm

Enjoy.

Your Favorite BNAT Swag Jun. 3rd, 2009 @ 01:32 pm

What piece of BNAT swag that was in the giftbags over the years is one you have kept that you user, watch, listen to, refer to, play with, etc. on a regular basis?

One of mine is the soundtrack to Next Stop Wonderland. That one routinely rotates through my iPod and I always smile when I hear it.

Don't ask me what series of clicks led me to this, but I stumbled across IMDB's list of release dates for V For Vendetta and am still giggling. It also lists BNAT as a release date for 300 (and probably a few others, though it wasn't listed for any of the other ones I happened to look up).

Screencapped for posterity. Click to (slightly) embiggen.

I was watching/listening to the RiffTrax for Ocean's 11 last night, and nearly fell out of my chair when Mike Nelson threw out a Butt-Numb-A-Thon reference. I had to rewind to make sure I had heard what I thought I heard.

» BNAT X: The Full List
As many of you know, every year I do a very detailed rundown of the BNAT lineup. While the contents of this list pretty much match the list on Wikipedia, this one includes more links and detail. I put it together for my own edification, but I thought you guys might also like it to be reposted here, so here it is. Enjoy!

Trailers and Previews and Movies, oh my! )
» BNAT X story
I've read a number of pretty cool stories on BNAT X but none seem to have pictures. I thought I'd post my adventure. Enjoy.

» The BNAT Game Score!
Finally, I'm back home and well enough to do math! Here are our BNAT Game results!

Of all the movies that were guessed, here were the ones that scored points:

CORALINE: 5 points (partial viewing)
METROPOLIS: 10 points (full viewing, even though it was an unexpected version)
MONSTERS VS. ALIENS: 11 points (5 for partial viewing, 5 for the director being there, and 1 for swag)
TEEN WOLF: 6 points (I only gave 1 for the expected glimpse + Ponderosa burn, but awarded a full 5 for Teen Wolf actually being there!)
THE SPIRIT: 1 point (swag)
VALKYRIE: 16 points (10 for full viewing, 5 for special intro, 1 for swag)
WATCHMEN: 8 points (5 for partial viewing, 3 for actor being there)

So who won? Clicky! )
» Indiana Jones book
Hey everybody! I hope you're all recovered from the awesomeness that was BNAT! My wife and I got  home to Portland where it was all a winter wonderland here.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in trading one of the Indiana Jones books for a Trick 'r Treat book from the goodie bags. My wife and I both got the Trick 'r Treat book. It's a fantastic book that will make a great companion to the film (once its finally released!!), but we really only need one of them.

If not, no worries... I'll save it and gift it to someone once the film sees the light of day! :)

I hope everyone had safe travels back home... and Holly, I'm so glad you got in via standby!!

Happy Holidays to all!

» BNAT X YouTube Flashback
I've done this for all the other years, and this kind of helps me deal with the post-BNAT blues. Seeing the Up trailer again after what we saw this weekend makes me all kinds of ridiculously and geekishly excited.

So, here's a little glimpse back at the awesomeness of BNAT X.

Viva Villa - trailer

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - trailer

Coraline - trailer

Sahara - this whole thing is on YouTube, but here is that great scene where the Italian stands up to the Luftwaffe pilot (about 2 minutes in)

Valkyrie - trailer

Up - trailer

Metropolis, 1984 Restoration - again, the whole thing is on YouTube, but here is "Here's My Heart"

Monsters vs Aliens - trailer

My Bloody Valentine 3D - trailer

I Love You, Man - here on Yahoo, because oddly it isn't on YT

White Dog - trailer for Criterion release

Push - trailer

Knowing - trailer

Terminator Salvation - trailer

Watchmen - trailer (I know there's other footage out there, but this is what's available that I like the best and that I think best captures the excitement of what we saw.)

Che - trailer (Just two-and-a-half minutes, I swear! :P)
» Post-BNAT funk
It's set in hard this year, I miss you all so much already. If anyone in Austin's interested I'm going to be at Weird Wednesday this Wednesday as I'm in Austin for the next three days for work (leave Thursday). I won't have online access, but if I can I'll try to check in here and on my FB page.

BNAT-1138. I'm already thinking about my application pictures. Hell, I already shave my head, and I wonder how many will for next year's pic! Heh.
» BNAT 10 blow-by-blow.
I wrote a little summing-up of BNAT 10 on my blog, here. Not really a critique, but just to give myself something to look back on and jog a few people's memories.

It's 3am and the body clock hasn't quite caught up after this weekend's abuse. Hope you had a good time, I certainly did.

» List of (nearly) everything seen at BNAT X
I just updated the Wikipedia page to include everything I noted from my seat in row 19. I apologize for any errors, as my brain -- like many of yours -- is operating on no sleep. Feel free to update or let me  know what to edit.

Here's the link:

Great to see many of you this weekend! Are we having a Monday movie screening tomorrow, Harry? I'm in Austin until Tuesday afternoon.

Peace and Sleep to you all...

aka Bob Loblaw Law Blog on AICN talkbacks (according to Harry, Patricia thinks I'm pretty cool! I talked to her afterward, and she is pretty bad ass herself).

» The Fake Line-Up
Psst... Anyone here?

So here is the fake line-up for BNAT X:

1. THE CHAMP (1931)

2. SOMEWHERE IN TIME (1980)

3. ALICE IN WONDERLAND (2010)

4. ISHTAR (1987)

5. THE STING (1973)

6. KURENAI NO BUTA (1992)

7. FLASH GORDON (1980)

8. GOJIRA TAI MEKAGOJIRA (1974)

9. DIAL M FOR MURDER (1954)

10. THE THIRD MAN (1949)

11. BIRTH OF A NATION (1915)

12. FIRESTARTER (1984)

13. THE DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE (1961)

14. GREEN HORNET (2010)

15. WHO IS KILLING THE GREAT CHEFS OF EUROPE? (1978)

16. EL CID (1961)

17. A BOY AND HIS DOG (1975)

Got any guesses? From Harry's post it sounds like not all of these titles correspond to a whole film.

My thoughts?
Green Hornet --> hero in fedora and mask --> The Spirit?
The Sting --> two lovely con men --> The Brothers Bloom?
Alice in Wonderland --> animated film about a girl in strange world --> Coraline?
The Third Man --> someone/something thought to be dead/missing suddenly shows up --> London After Midnight *this is my super long shot guess XD
