Blue Heelers first hit our screen in 1994 for Season 1 with a small cast of Lisa McCune, Grant Bowler, John Wood, Martin Sacks, Anne Burbrook and William McInnes.
John Wood said himself that he didn't think the show would make Season 2.
13 years later, and 13 seasons under their belt - Blue Heelers became Australia's most loved Drama.
The show has won countless awards, including Lisa McCune and John Wood getting Gold Logies.
Unfortunately, the show was axed in 2006 and the remainder 13 episodes were aired in June finishing a record breaking 510 episodes making it the Longest Australian Drama.

Over 13 seasons the show had many cast come and go but John Wood has been in every single Blue Heelers episode.
Julie Nihill has also been in the show from the very first day, however unlike John was not in every single episode made.

John Wood, Julie Nihill, Lisa McCune, Martin Sacks, Rupert Reid, Jane Allsop, Caroline Craig, Paul Bishop, Grant Bowler, William McInnes, Charlie Clausen, Damien Walshie-Howling, Danny Racco, Ditch Davey, Matthew Holmes, Rachel Gordon, Samantha Tolj, Simone McAullay, Tasma Walton, Anne Burbrook, and Geoff Morrell. The show had countless guest appearances by well known Australian actors and actresses and was also a starting ground for many new actors to get known in the world of TV and Film.

If you're missing Blue Heelers as much as I am, you'll be happy to know that Seasons 1 - 6 are on DVD.
If you're saying to yourself "But why are the rest of the seasons not on DVD?" Then good question! The latest news on the DVDs was that Seasons 7 and 8 WILL be coming to DVD - but when?

Since cast members left the show and now that Blue Heelers has finished - most of the cast have gone onto bigger things:

John Wood - Is still active with TV. He hosts a show called Wine Me, Dine Me airing in Melbourne only. He also runs his Deli on weekends.

Rachel Gordon - Her and her husband Scott Johnson will soon be appearing in Australian soap Neighbours. Rachel has plans to go over to the US to get further acting jobs.

Lisa McCune - When she's not at home being a mother to her 3 children, she has been gracing the stage most recently in Urinetown showing the crowd that Maggie Doyle can sing!
She recently has filmed a new drama series called Sea Patrol which will air later in 2007 on the 9 Network.

Grant Bowler - Grant is currently in the New Zealand show Outrageous Fortune (not currently airing in Australia). Keep an eye out for repeats of The Mole and Border Security - which Grant hosts/narrates.

William McInness - William put pen to paper and has published 2 successful books: A Man's Got To Have A Hobby and Cricket Kings. He too is back on the TV on the ABC soon with a telemovie, and has also done a movie Look Both Ways.
