3:25 pm - MOVING SALE
|

cheshire_girl
|
I'm leaving the state next weekend, and trying to get rid of some stuff. Everything from a dresser, coffee table, desk, end tables, kitchen table, a lava lamp (hush), and a free stereo. You'd need to transport yourself, and all has to be gone by Thursday-Fridayish. PRICES NEGOTIABLE.
See here:
Smells like getting out of Indiana (and a 15-year-old hippie)!
Help me out :).

9:41 pm - Hair salon
|

cheshire_girl
|
I checked the memories and it looks like all the salon-related posts are from 2005 and 2006. So! Anyone have recent recommendations for a women's haircut, under $50, in the next week? I'm leaving town for good next Sunday, and I need to get a haircut before then.
Last time I went to Mira, I had Leigh, and she did a good job, but I'd be curious if you all like other stylists there (I have heard good things about Jackie and Nicole?), or have better salon recommendations.
Random note: has anyone seen a stylist around town named Russell (I don't know his last name)? He's a middle-aged man with graying black hair...For awhile I was following him to different cheap salons--the man did wonders with my hair. But he disappeared--so, if anyone has any idea of his work-related whereabouts, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks.

Smells like a change of scenery and/or desperation to be rid of our gently used, loved items.

9:47 pm - airport rideshare?
|

mindstalk

I don't have much hope, esp. on short notice, but: I've got a flight out of Indy at 3:17pm. Anyone happen to be heading up to Indy so as to hit the airport by 2:15?

3:52 pm - hi!
|

metalsmitten

Hey guys,
Is anybody here taking any classes in the crafty departments?
Most specifically, metalsmithing or jewelry?
If so, wanna tell me about it? I'd be much obliged. I'm contemplating the usefulness of going to grad school.
Thanks!

11:19 am - Roofers
|

kellix
|
While I would ideally like to frame this question in a witty and winning way, it's Monday and it just ain't happening:
Could anyone recommend a good roofer in the area? My roof definitely has a leak...which is a bummer.
Thanks.

2:15 pm - shoe repair
|

paprstar

If I wanted to get the rubber part on my heels replaced, where would I go?
I found something about Joseph's... are they open/reasonably priced? I tried calling but it's probably holiday weekend so no one picked up (and no answering machine).

1:11 pm - CAPS services?
|

peculiarcrow

Hi,
I was wondering if people here knew how Student Mental Health works for grad students on Chickering/Aetna over the summer. The information on the website seems directed at undergraduates -- I know, for instance, that I get regular health benefits over the summer without being enrolled in credit-hours.
Any advice is appreciated.

2:09 am - Found: Kitten
|

anon52
|
Around 1 am this morning, we found a very small black kitten, about 8 weeks old, on Rogers near 1st Street, crying for its mother. After a lot of effort, we caught it, and its currently in our house, in a cat carrier.
Anybody lose one out a litter?
It smells like a very sad kitten indeed.
Edit/Update:
Said kitten is actually appears to a be a mix between a Siamese and a russian blue (imagine silver gray where the tan would be on a Siamese), and is probably closer to six weeks old, and thin, but eating. Also, a purring machine.

I would like to start a indoor herb garden and was wondering what your favorite place in town is to buy plants/flowers/etc (I'm looking for pre-grown herbs and some knowledgeable employees). Thank you!

11:28 pm - Consignment shops?
|

harveypenguin

Are there any consignment shops in Bloomington? I've got a ton of clothes I no longer need that are in great shape. I would just take them to Goodwill, but I need some cash, so selling them is preferable. Unfortunately my clothes are too lame for Plato's Closet.

Is there anyone in this town that buys used books besides plato's closet? More specifically I have a bunch of Chick-lit books that I would like to get rid of bc I've already read them and half.com is just not doing it for me.

7:49 pm - temp agencies?
|

neverblink
|
I recall seeing a post about temp agencies in town awhile ago but that post isn't in the memories or anything.
Basically I'm having trouble finding a job. Most places aren't hiring right now & the ones that are (I check like 3 newspapers, 4 websites, & inquire at random places every day) are looking for people with experience. There are a lot of truck drivers & nurses needed, & sadly I am neither of those.
So I was thinking about trying a temp agency around here but I just don't know much about it. My only job experience really is general clerical work, camp counseling, & hosting at a restaurant. Pretty limited.
Does anyone have any experience with any temp agencies in town? I'm going to sound stupid, but what do you do? Just walk in & be like "Hey I suck at finding jobs on my own" because that's where I'm at right now, ha. Any experience/stories would be great! (Or if you have any job leads, that works too!)
Thanks!

EDIT: Owner Found - disregard below post
My upstairs neighbors found a cat at 6th & Indiana earlier today. She's black with white whiskers, feet, and cat mustache. I don't know anything about cats and can't guess how old she is, but she's pretty small and looks pretty young. If it's yours or know who it belongs to e-mail me at ojegede [at] indiana.edu and I'll give you my neighbors' phone number. Thanks.

Smells like cat.

6:22 pm - Need a Notary Public

Where can I find a notary public in town and what does it cost? I just need one little form notarized so I can cash out my retirement account. Obviously this means I'm broke, so the most cost-effective notary solution would be appreciated. Thanks!
