Survived Not only did i survive but have had a bloody marvellous time. A proper update later as i really need to grab a disco nap before going to see The Mummy with
juxtimon and
staticgirl, but in the meantime here are some highlights:
1.
Amazing meal and Jazz evening at Cafe Portebleue in Verteuil sur Charente. Yes we had Stef's mum and a couple of her friends with us but it was just about as romantic as romantic can be. A perfect, perfect evening with fab music in a fantastic restaurant overlooked by the most beautiful chateau.
2.
Thunderstorm last night. OMG. People use the word awesome far too often these days. When i say that this was awesome i truly mean it. I have never, ever seen anything like it and it was one of the best things i have ever seen in my life. The lightning wasnt in forks, it literally lit up the whole sky...we tumbled out of bed and stumbled our way through the dark into one of the farmhouses fields to watch it. Amazing. Awe-inspiring. Romantic. Fucking rocked. It did, however, go on for nearly 5 hours by which time we were cursing it as we got no sleep whatsoever...
3.
Hare/ Yes i saw a hare running through the fields. Im not sure ive ever seen one before so i was all excited.
4.
Stef's mums farmhouse in Bizon. The house is slowly being done up. The grounds are fantastic....big barns full of wood, an orchard, huuuge fields. And the best thing? The peace and quiet. You cant hear a damn thing...apart from the noise of the secadas, or the hedgehogs, the hornets (meep), the dragonflys...perfect.
5.
The stars The farmhouse is in the middle of nowhere. Literally. I think Bizon must have about 5 houses..so the amount of stars you can see is amazing.
6.
The people Ive been made so welcome and fed so much wine....
7.
Lezay Market I went to a proper French market!!! So coooool...i have pictures....
Now i realise im getting carried away and im not going to have time for a kip....
Oh it was stupidly hot. About 30/32 degrees. And it was raining when we landed here. What a comedown....
