I have a new hobby. I've always meant to learn to knit (much like I mean to ride my bike, practice yoga, learn german, blah blah blah). So today I thought about it for the nth time and idly googled knitting & Evanston. Two shops popped up. One is a BLOCK from my office. It's almost directly in between work & my apartment. I pass the place constantly, but I'd never really noticed because it's just around the corner & thus out of line of my tunnel-vision-y sight.

The website said they'd be open until 5:30 and I thought 'why not?' I stopped in and asked a few pathetically newbie questions (and kinda felt up half the yarn on the shelves, so soffft). I have to admit - I needed to have the difference between knitting & crocheting explained to me. Fifteen minutes later - I was sitting in on the Tuesday evening class with three other women. Whee!

Don't get me wrong - I pretty much suck. I only know the one basic stitch, I made a bunch of errors & now my wrists kinda hurt. But still. I'm hooked. Heh. My next class is on Saturday, maybe I'll learn to crochet! So. If you have any nifty knitting related links, hints, whatever; please share.

So today I had training on how to process new donors.

The first step? Create a bunch of "fictional" people (first and last name) including their addresses, race, gender, DOB, social security number, weight, and some vitals (temp, BP, heart rate, HCT and protein level) and to decide what ID they presented us with.
