Jered vs Jered

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
OK, we're testing a new Jered model. Jered's the lead character for our movie, so obviously this is very important.

If you're reading this, please do vote in the poll, below!

OK, image below cut, as well as the poll.

So, heeeeeere's Jered:

And a bit of background for you. Jered's our hero, obviously. He's a young monk-in-training at the start of the film - he's quite naive about the world, but starting to have doubts about his role in the Church of the Angels. He's also as hard as the proverbial nails, and the protege of the mysterious and sinister Master of the Cathedral. Later on, he falls in with bad sorts, gets involved in gladiatorial combat, and generally is Our Hero.

So, what do you think?

Why?

Anything else we should know?

  • Do you mean rating out of 5 as in how well each of the examples matches what I think Jered should look like given your description? The former looks like a jarhead; long flowing elfin locks may be a cliche but I think they match your description far more than the 'oy, mate, gimme a number 2' version.
    • On the other hand, changing one's hair is a pretty clear sign of change - you could switch from one to the other to indicate his character development....

I get the 'hard as nails' but I just think the first example has TOO much nails.
  • I will comment a link to this on a few people's journals, if you don't mind.

    Artists, all of them.
    • (Oh, one might consider herself a student of art rather than an artist! I have left off Sana since you have a direct connection to her, yourself.)
  • I'll vote once you tell us the parameters - is 5 good, or bad?

New Jered has good eyes. His eyebrows are nice too, but if possible they need to be a little lighter if you're keeping his hair that length. If you can give him, oh, a centimeter more dark hair, it'd be good - although he's hard as nails, I don't think him looking too thug-like is good... Actually, if you keep the hair and eyebrows as they are, can you give him blue or green eyes? I'd like to see how that would look.

The old Jered's hair was too Jason Donovan, really. And because his eyes are so small and narrow, they make him look shifty and pig-like. The chin was a bit too broad as well, the new Jered looks a bit more human.
    • 5 is t3h w1n. 1 is t3h l000Z3.

Yeah, I think that the shaved head thing is a bit too much. Works on Jet Li, doesn't work on anyone else.
    • ooh, yeah, agree on the eyebrows thing. they look a bit stuck on, like a disguise.

I used to totally have the hots for a (Buddhist) monk. Brutal.
  • Swap my answers round. I assumed the first picture would be the old jered and the second would be the new one.

Excuse my inability to read :-)
  • [info]mindwanders has pointed out that my answer might be confusing. By Jered 1, I meant old Jered, and Jered 2 is new Jered. Not the order in which they're displayed...
  • I think the new, skinhead Jered just looks too brutal.

I think we should try compressing the original face to give him a normal sized chin and better facial proportions, and shortening his hair to around his jaw-line.
  • Was going to type this up in the boxes, but they dont give enough room ;D

The 'new' Jered has a less likeable and more thug-like feel. Though perhaps diminishing visual stereotypes is a good thing. Though hard as nails doesn't always mean they have to look harsh and thuggish, right? :)

I would keep the shape of his fase but maybe thin his nose a bit and his lips a little, not quite as much as the original Jered, but a little more-so. I would possibly lighten up his eyebrows a bit, might make him look a little less 'thuggish'. (Hey thuggish is word of the day!)

Are there any images or screenshots of the character in full, front and back. I think it would be easier to jusdge the character as a whole, that way :)
  • Aw shit. Swap my answers too. I have left-right dyslexia. I prefer the skinhead version, long blond hair is silly in a fight.
  • I prefer the old Jered. The new one's eyebrows look too girly, even more girly than his old flowing locks.
