More of Mys' Misc Info Searching

Okay peeps, Mys is bouncing some bunnies around trying to decided whether she should buy them a hutch or have them...
discreetly adopted. That he they grew to be a normal, happy, laughing child bunnies, active and exuberant; and after that, grew further to become a normal, fairly contented adult rabbits.
And perhaps that's what happened.
...
You don't want to know what could have happened to Baby B
the bunnies.
We like your version better, anyway.
...and she needs some info.

First off, is there any set age limit on when a Slayer can be awakened? Mys is specifically curious about awakening Slayers post-Chosen.
EDIT: Okay Mys is hoping this will clarify her question- What I'm trying to figure out is if Ms. Soccer Mom 2002 with her 2.4 kids would be called or if she'd be past her 'sell by' date?

And is there an agreed upon Buffy!verse definition of Claiming, Bonding, and Mating? Mys knows that for the most part ppl just go with what feels/sounds right or works best for them, but she's wondering if there's a more 'official' answer and if so where?

Yet Another EDIT: Big hugs and thank you's and cookies to everyone for helping the Mys with this!!!!!!!!! *squeezes everyone*

*loves your location*

But, as far as "claiming, bonding, and mating" goes, I don't recall it ever being mentioned in canon. I could be wrong, but in the flashbacks, it never really goes into that much detail. It focuses more on the characters and each vampire seems to be different. I've also read a lot of consort, pet, and vamp fics and they all seem to be different with the rules, so I think it's just whatever feels right when it comes to that.

Yep. What the poodle lover said.

Nice!

Sorry, couldn't resist, lol. Good one less thing to worry about!

I giggled when I read that. :D

Ok Mys you can drop off your bunnies at my new community called [info]bunny_grabber You need to join to leave them. Who knows you might find a bunny there you might want to adopt.

As for the age of the slayer in the movie they said when the girl in question reaches puberty is the earliest she can be called which is between the age of 12-14 years of age.

The CFlaiming, Bonding and Mating I think is what people feel comfortable with. But biting and sex is a major part of it. I hope this helps.

Great! Thanks doll, that's what Mys thought she remembered about how young they could be, but is it ever said how much older a Slayer could be when she was called?
And I'll thank you very much Mys has joined [info]bunny_grabber! She did the minute you told Bee about it! Lol. And yes Mys will be a good little bunny breeder and send them that way if she decides she can't care for them. *nods solomnly*
That's good about the Claiming/Mating/etc... then Mys can make it up however suits her anal little heart, lol.

It seemed to me that one of the Potentials-turned-Slayer in "Chosen" was a little girl playing baseball. However there is a problem with early maturity these days so maybe she'd already reached menarche.

I remember that, but as you said early maturity, I mean, our middle monster was 11 when she hit, and you never know what little league she was in- girl's softball doesn't automatically stop at 12 or anything (although the girl was rather small, but again no accounting for genetics)-there's also the whole movie 'verse verses tv 'verse (and that's too many verses to have that close together in one sentence, lol).
Anyway, good things to keep in mind all the way around, thanks.

You know me, since it's the Mys asking, just have to
put in my 2 cents. Even though with the American recession
it is now only worth a penny.
I do believe that all claiming should involve
butts and bites.

4th-May-2008 10:50 pm (UTC)
Bee, you think ANYTHING involving our boys should involve butts and bites!!!!

...

Hang on a mo', *assumes pensive stance, and taps finger on her chin* you're RIGHT! *G* And fangs, must have fangs! Butts, bites, and fangs!!!!!!!
4th-May-2008 08:16 pm (UTC)
There is no 'claiming, bonding, mating' in Buffy'verse canon. It's entierly a fanon thing. 'Sire' is the only word/idea that's canon, and it's important in a sort of parent/child way but involves absolutely nothing along the lines of ritual, obedience, or obligation.
4th-May-2008 10:53 pm (UTC)
Yes! Even better, thanks dear... Mys is thinking about playing with toys she doesn't normally play with and figured she ought to check what was what befiore she jumped in head first... with her luck it wouldn't just be the shallow end but dry, too, lol.
5th-May-2008 04:10 am (UTC)
Yeah - tabaqui took the words out of my mouth. If you want to stick close to canon rules, you pretty much skip claiming, bonding, mating entirely. If you want to do claiming, bonding, mating anyway and ignore canon, it's wide open for whatever you want to do.

that is one of the hottest icons i have ever seen. Is it snaggable or am I going to be forced to stalk your profile just to perve?
5th-May-2008 08:25 am (UTC)
And it's answers like that that make Mys' muse sing!!!!! Thank you!
5th-May-2008 06:24 am (UTC)
i was reading a spander and the author was saying that she was the one who invented the whole claiming thing. I have an idea who it might have been but not 100% so best not say. Whoever it was I bow down before them...naked...

But i have to agree if it ain't got butts bites blood and fangs it just ain't a claimin'.
5th-May-2008 08:31 am (UTC)
No offense, but I doubt that, since the idea of Claiming has been a major part of various vampire myths, stories, legends, and, of course, RPGs for AGES- well before the concept of Spander or BtVS ever existed. Still, 's good to know that Claiming is that open a field to work with. Thanks. *g*
Now, if someone could just answer the Slayer question, lol!
5th-May-2008 08:42 am (UTC)
yeah sounded a bit dodgey, specially since the fic wasn't even that great.
Still a frikkin brillant idea, my fav part of spander.

About awakening slayers post chosen... when buffy said "Every girl who could have the power, will have the power." I always took this to mean there would be no more potentials and girls would be born slayers and not have to be activated.

I probably missed the point though, I tend to do that
5th-May-2008 09:02 am (UTC)
Nah, I think you're spot on with the 'being born' or at least all of them would get their powers when they reached the age they could've.
What I'm trying to figure out is if Ms. Soccer Mom 2002 with her 2.4 kids would be called or if she'd be past her 'sell by' date. Why does no one ever seem to think of these things???????
5th-May-2008 09:20 am (UTC)
OMG there could be old grey Nanna slayers in nursing homes the world over!
I say Mys should create the fanon for this question.

5th-May-2008 11:35 am (UTC)
EXATCLY!
Mys can't be the only person to have thought this, can she??????????? *pokes through the Buffy'verse looking for answers, before giving up and making them up herself- fanon is a wonderful thing, lol*
5th-May-2008 02:29 pm (UTC)
All I can add about the age of slayers being called is that I do recall a particular scene in which Kennedy and the other girls were discussing being a slayer. One girl said she was too young, but I think it was Kennedy who said that the younger, the better. That she had been working with a watcher but never been called and that she was afraid that she was getting too old to be called. So, I tend to think a 20 something soccer mom with kids wouldn't be unthinkable. That maybe she had had a watcher as well as Kennedy, but thinking that her expiration date was up, so to speak, she had decided to live a normal life, ergo the kids and soccer. Might make a pretty interesting character in a Spander story. Notice how I slipped the Spander side in as well. lol.
5th-May-2008 06:21 pm (UTC)
Lol, isn't it amazing where you can slip the Spander in!?!?! *wiggles eyebrows*
Thank you, that's exactly the age range Mys was thinking! Okay, so Mys thinks she can pull this off, considering the answers she's getting. *G*
5th-May-2008 11:06 pm (UTC)
Oh, I have no doubt that mys could pull it off. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
6th-May-2008 12:40 pm (UTC)
I remember a quote from Joss saying something like "They have a use by date could you image a nanna being called that's even to silly for me" or something along these lines will have to see if I can find the quote

Oh if you could that would be wonderful!!!!!!!! Thank you sooooooo much! *offers extra cookies*
6th-May-2008 02:26 pm (UTC)
I'd assume there's no age limit. The Slayers couldn't be called too young, but there's no reason for any magic to de-activate them - they never got the chance to get old before this, and if they did they'd die in the field. Since it's "every girl who could have the power, will have the power" I assumed every woman who could have been a Slayer was activated by Willow's spell. I mean, in the 'girls getting called' montage there was a woman standing up against a man who'd hit her and she looked to be heading into middle age.
6th-May-2008 02:45 pm (UTC)
Oh gods, so Mys didn't imagine seeing that scene?!?
---Mental Note: Do not watch a series finale while in the worst MDE you've gone through in the 20+ years you've had BP, it makes it very difficult to remember what was real and what wasn't! Lol---

Thank you, that really does make the Mys feel better... and not to worry she's VERY well medicated now, lol. *G*
