This may be a well discussed topic or it may not have been, but I'm wondering what peoples' perspectives on Byakuya and his relationships with people in general. This is largely inspired by rewatching the SS arc for completely unrelated reasons, though it crops up from time to time and makes me think.
I'm delving back in time a little bit with this since I've been rewatching the SS arc, so bear with me *lol*
( Byakuya babble )
Byakuya's not my favourite character (one of them, probably, but not #1) so this is really just my vague musing. I find him really interesting because of his lack of outward emotion, especially when so much is obviously going on inside that laced up head of his.

First thought when I heard there was going to be a Hitsugaya movie was yey,
One of my friends will probably force me to watch this movie (I'm currently being persuaded to watch the Hitsu movie for the Kubo Tite extra interview it will sell with) but the fuss about it is more fandom fun for me. Thanks again to Mezzo who found another comic on a Japanese fansite.

Does everyone in Japan draw really well or what? It's like the place is exploding with awesome fanartists and doujinshi artists.
I haven't found this around yet, and since I do have the time to type out the kana from the image of the lyrics... It's a good chance for me to practise kana typing, don't you think? ^_^
Below are the Kanji/Kana lyrics, which can be used by anyone who'll like to translate it and post the English set here. Romanji's for the singers. Lalalala~
Start flocking in now, translator-tachi-san! And as for those who'll like to sing along with Kuchiki-sama:
It's beautiful, Byakuya's song, but it does appear to be somewhat tragedic. The title can be translated as the River of the Night Sky, or Night Sky's River, I think. Rukia's is even more melodious! Her's is my favourite of the lot, titled Star of the Sky, 天の星, ten no hoshi. And as for the duet... Poor Byakuya. It's like in the Renji duet. Here, Byakuya speaks half the time. Doesn't matter, though.
Long live the Kuchiki siblings!
Bunnisteffi
P.S. If there're any errors, do tell.
P.P.S. I won't mind transferring ten no hoshi's lyrics into script, but I'm afraid that I haven't the time to.
Edit: Added the last two lines to the Romanji lyrics that I had previously left out. Thanks, Laurie-twin!

Bleach is rated #1 this week in WSJ and I can see why. There's something to squee about on every page.
Dunno why I'm typing so much of the bad grammar. The cleaning fluids from Passover preps have entered my bloodstream. See ya later, after the seder!'

Alright. I've see the RAW and this is going to be one of Kubo's most controversial chapters ever--reactions have been everywhere from hysterical giggles to outright nausea (mine were both--then again, Kubo hits all my weak spots--it's why I love him so). The pacing was brilliant and Mayuri even peered over the Fourth Wall to comment on the much anticipated Ken-Nnoi fight which, in true Kubo style, is going to be delayed and so, dear audience, you must wait for your bloodbath. At least until the new year (there is no Jump next week).
I considered writing a short essay on how Kubo is pushing the boundaries of shounen but I'm already tired from yacking it up with fans elsewhere. For a little bit of some peoples' viewpoints about the inappropriateness/dissonance of this chapter, I'll refer you to a serious discussion in the journal of
Another bright spot--a GORGEOUS Bleach six month calendar spread by Kubo (the other six months are Reborn--how awesome is that?) that shows our lovely young leads looking all fresh and normal. The juxtaposition of these happy kids in a spread while gruesome battles roar in the chapter is typical Kubo. The last time he did this was was the infamous Telephones R Us (infamous only because shipper interpretation went over the top over it---I heard Rukia and Ichigo being put together by virtue of their striped clothes and tickets in his pocket, Ishida and Orihime put together by virtue of their matching name/worktags, Ichigo and Orihime aligned in the great Love Cosmos by the words "me" and "you" and by the oh so romantic superimposition of Ichigo's elbow over Orihime's crotch. I heard translations of Japanese and Chinese text to show that those being connected could not be Ichigo and Ishida because of the gender of pronouns being used and that there were love connotations in the language.... )
Here's a treat. Put this on your wallpaper. A HQ of the calendar I got from Spacecat and uploaded onto my LJ photo account.
My IshiHime shipper self noted that Ishida and Orihime were the only ones wearing raincoats (he of the Uryuu Rain Dragon name and she of the Tanabata goddess whose tears are rain mythology) and I was promptly chided by an opposing shipper that he was wearing a TRENCHCOAT, which, when I observed was an article of clothing used in rainy weather, was turned into an overcoat with accompanying Wikipaedia illustrations. Hell, Ichigo and Orihime are wearing pink--Renji looks like he's about to slap the shit out of Rukia who's eating a mandarin--and Chad is carrying a vintage bowling ball bag! This spread is all kinds of awesome no matter HOW you read it.
One friend, AmycorE read it this way:
( LOL )
one more word about the chapter!
I haven't shared these fics with any lj community yet. It's my favorite crack pairing, Byakuya x Yachiru. (Yes, don't shoot me.) Both stories have implied Ichigo x Rukia and Ishida x Orihime, if you happen to like those pairings too.

These damn DATABOOKS NEED TO BE ALL TRANSLATED. SO MUCH YUMMY STUFF WITHIN THEM. Today Michsi at BA posted a link to a NF Forum Thread with translations of captain and vice captain personality tidbits! Kira is a poet!
Yeah, news to me. Yachiru steals carp and a good many of the officers in the Gotei 13 appear to be publishing authors. Me wants "top secret info" about my Shinigami!
Also, there's one of those promotionary blurbs from Kubo on the back cover that talks of his involvement. Sounds like typical promo politeness but seems to guarantee against huge glaring errors against his precious authorial intent. As Cez, who translated the blurb, says--about maybe 70% of the book is canon-reliable. The books are, after all, a secondary source--but I'm all into secondary and tertiary sources the way Jews love Talmud and graduate students hate bibliography class.
As for the manga script that is out. BYAKUYA = LOVE and that's all this fangirl can write. Ice, Ice, Ice, baby.
Regarding LJ's new adult content flag and/or new report your neighbor and harrassment tool I'll most likely being making this community an adult one--first I have to clarify how regular members can still access the site if they are registered underage. I have some loyal, bright, mature teenage readers to consider but I'm all for making the community less accessible. Maybe I'll put a bouncer at the door. Someone like Ikkaku to screen your entrance based on what you're wearing <------sarcasm.

I'm not watching the anime filler but who is this handsome dude romancing/kidnapping Rukia in it? Kubo designed Senna and now this guy? Holy Kai, what are the movie people making him do? One brief comment about chapter 300:
Read this:
The Great Comparison Post in the IchiRuki FC at BA by
Chapter 268 was my favorite chapter in Bleach so far. It got me imagining what Rukia's life before she came to the Living World. This story tries to be as canon filler as it can be, given that Kubo-san has not revealed much about Rukia's true past and has only thrown out some details about her life in the thirteenth division.
Oh hope that wasn't TOO sad.
Anyway, next subject-- many of my dear friends are whipping up the Orihime hate lately. Not that I can't understand. Rukia's last thoughts are about Orihime and so far the princess in the tower has only thanked "Kurosaki-kun." Remember--Orihime is love and kindness. She's 16 and sweet. She's (stupidly) in love with Ichigo and she hasn't had her moments of self-realization like Rukia has in 268. She hasn't woken up to the fact that Ishida is there for her.
So please, if you can't be as generous as Rukia was as she fell, bleeding, for Orihime, then try to remember that Orihime's not at all a villain--she's just a girl. And a very flawed girl who doesn't yet know her own strength. She will soon, though. You'll see. She will win your respect one day.
These are just three sets of themed drabbles I wrote last year, but I like them. I wish I could do something like them again. "Seven Days" is R-rated and the other two are NC-17.
