I finally got the the week before last's filler episode to play on Media Windows and I couldn't watch the whole thing. The episode is so disjointed and I can't suspend my disbelief.  I re-watched the Grimmjow and Ichigo fight instead, went back and enjoyed Doldoni animated.


Will the real Ichigo Kurosaki please return?

I don't follow the Bleach anime regularly anymore, but I tune in for good fights (Ichigo versus Grimm the Hedgehog last week) and for the little shipping controversies that keep me off the streets and away from "abridged editions" of anime on YouTube. This morning I awoke to such a ruckus that I thought for a moment that Isshin's Gotei 13 position had been revealed, but no, it was only that episode 167 had changed a little bit of the manga to slant the story into a more (shoujo-shoujo-shoujo) Ichigo x Orihime bent.


And yes, others got into the act and we were in one another's shoutboxes all this morning because there were no spoilers and we are goofy children, heaven help us.

Two recent favorites by writers I always enjoy:

Breathe Ichigo, Grimmjow, PG13 by sans_pertinence 

Helen Orihime, PG by firstmidnight 

I saw episode 159 of the anime and was sorely disappointed in the SLAP HEARD ROUND THE WORLD scene even as I was giddy over how well (sexy slinky fey and threatening) Szayel was animated. I realize that anime "reads" differently from manga but I've missed a few panels that were crucial in my manga worldview: Ishida looking O.O when Urahara tells him Hime is kidnapped, Ishida standing looking like a bona fide prince with shield and arrow when seele schneider is revealed and now the scene where Ulquiorra is all "..." outside Hime's room while she sobs. Some other scenes too. The Rukia fight with Aaro was good, I still hurt over the animation quality. Chad's face is hard to mess up--it's half-covered with hair, so why do we get basset hound faces of Chad?

Grr, I'm grouchy because I have yet another winter cold. Expect fic in which Bleach characters die.

A few days ago I heard that some fandom brats were saying that I wasn't a REAL Orihime fan (because I criticize her) and it bugs me that the remark still bugs me. It's not like someone challenged my Jewish identity, my motherhood, or my political allegiances. I can't seem to be able to start threads or talk about Orihime without the HOWDAREYOUINSULTOURHOLYPRINCESS? attitude popping up. Urk, I'm craving talk like Rebecca's  Unified Field Theory of Orihime.

*goes back to watch chibi Uryuu's move it, move it*  Kaya, this was a plot to hypnotize me wasn't it? So I  cant write or draw or sneeze?

Interestingly, ever since that long banished Bleach hate comm took me to task for the "trainwreck" that is my art, I've been worrying a lot less about how things look and just enjoying process. Naturally, this leads to many crooked eyeballs and screwy perspective, but I've been enjoying drawing whereas the fanwriting has me nitpicking lately.

I want to do fanworks outside of Bleach, but when it comes to choosing a project for my free time, Bleach always wins.

 

I stopped watching the English dub when Renji sounded like a girl but I started watching again because the IshiHime parts are coming up. The Ichigo VA is really, really good. Wish the rest of the cast were bearable.
Japanese anime--don't know why but my heart isn't as into it as the manga at the moment. Seeing the Ikkaku fight animated perked me up a little but the animation is still dragging, and the theme songs drag and there's no BLEACH PUNCH excitement like there currently is in the manga. (I fangurl for the endorphin rush, obviously ^^)

Working on Rukia story with Kaien but it's slow going. Where's the deluge of Rukia and Kaien stories I expected to see this week? Kaien has won my heart as the sexiest guy in Bleach--he must be squished, loved, and written about.

So, I've got a medium-length (10-15 thousand wds) story in the works with two clear parts so far and I'm wondering how to post. Not specifically asking about my stories here, but I'd like to know how people like their Bleach fanfic served. Just curious

As for the anime-- the last fight was pretty good. I loved it when Ichigo screamed "RUKIAAAAA" (he's such a screamer). The dub I keep missing but I know I couldn't take it anyway. I'll pick it up again when the Ikkaku, Kenpachi, Mayuri fights come up. I want to see what they do with the tension in the acting. Most dubs sound like "howdy partner" when it comes to action scenes that are so emotional in Japanese.

Summation of episode 113: Well, thank you NOT Perriot Studios for censoring what was one of the most frightening panels in the manga for me---when Chad got his arm ripped off. There's been more blood shown before. Why dilute this moment?  Also, ULQUIORRA, could he have sexier voice? Interestingly he wasn't that scary. He was terrifying in the manga.

post-shipping crisis: I've been reading back through ileenka 's lj and now I feel a little better. I dont know why I have these late night fears over Bleach and my ships crashing. It usually happens when I lurk on forums too much. I want to be in the know (for example, I had no idea HOW intense the Rukia/Orihime debate until after I wrote my IshiHime essay) but then the flood of opinions confuses me. I try to respect each and every Bleach fan who posts in all earnestness but that's hard work. I lose it.

question: are Bleach forums survivable?

For you to discuss amongst yourselves in my absence:

1) WHAT is it that makes Shinji so hot? (I'm not going to be RPing him in the future bc I've got too many other fandom things going but I think his devil-may-care personality is what makes him sexy).

2) Was the animation of Uryuu taking his shirt off in episode 110 everything you'd imagined it would be? (I haven't seen it yet! WaaaH!)

The fillers are officially over with episode 109 and looky who's coming now!


Now my wish for the manga is that very soon the Visored will show up and go one on one all those freaks that sit around Aizen's tea table.
Could make for an interesting bloodbath--considering how the main boys (Chad, Ichigo, Ishida) never seem to kill anyone (I'm calling Chirucci not dead)

Maybe next week we'll see his new upgraded Quincy self in this battle against Dominatrix

This January, they say, these co-called reliable sources, that the anime will return to the manga in January.  The Bound arc does seem to be wrapping up---gee whiz, Uncle Charlie!  I hope it's true.  I want to see Hirako and hear how he's voiced.

I watched 107 today and it was like cleaning my ears out after the dub.  (The dub is not bad, but it's not Bleach. Especially Urahara). Remember that we were figuring that the producers would make Ishida lose his powers again and then no one would know, so the story can continue from the manga that way? Nope, they had him lose his powers and then TELL EVERYBODY THAT HE DID.

I hope this doesn't foretell other mess-ups of the manga story.  Apparently Rukia doesn't seem to be taking off anywhere soon so she can arrive by the window....
