Well, I'm sure this entry will surprise some who haven't seen me on their friends pages in a while...
First off, for those who I mainly kept in contact via LJ... sorry I dropped off the face of the earth.
My life has decided to adjust what I considered priorities into other priorities. Don't worry, I'm doing fine... I'm just recoving from one of those torrential shifts, where it seems like it mucho easier to scale my ambitions back a bit... and unfortunately, things like keeping a daily journal or doing a thrice weekly comic sort of get pushed by the wayside. Add the fact that my internet service thought it would be fun to go wonkey evertime I needed it for the past many moons, and you have a person with very little desire to keep up with his internet tasks.
Just to give you some of the quick lowdown on some of the many times me and the megolith evilcorp SBC have butted heads, there is now a recorded message on their tech support phone menu that states: "all of our service representatives are currently busy helping other valued customers ... your estimated wait time is ... one minute... please stay on the line until our next availble representive can help you... unless this is that bastard Jon... you can just go to hell..."
Currently it is about 3 in the morning, and there's an SBC van parked across the street, full of black-ops guys tapped directly into my phone line, who have been given permission to shoot me if the here sound keys that even remotley ring like the SBC tech number... (I know this because they told me...)
True, I could have gotten to someone elses computer to do this sort of thing... but that would be admidting a small defeat, and those who know me well, will know how ridiculously serious i take these things.
For the record, I'm pretty sure Blahsville is Kaput. Smitty, Todd, and I found out that like most labors of love, while it was fun and invigerating, and introduced us to many people that we admire and I'd still like to call friends, It was a challenge that none of us could really live up to. I ultimately can't say for the others, but for myself it just got way to stressfull and time consuming. All three of us have pretty large workloads as it is, and Blahsville also happened to fall during a period when all of us we going through one change or another...
Will we ever pick it up again? I'm not sure... right now, when ever we talk about it, it's kinda a mornful thing, so the chance is no.
I myself have played with the idea of doing something myself... but it occured to me that my talents lie in drawing and not in the writing department. Of course, those of you who were in the biz, who like my artwork and wonder if this means I'm up for new projects... the answer is sure.
Those of you who like Blahsville for the jokes and scripting and wonder if smitty or Todd are available to write, drop me a line, and I'll pass it along. I would like to say this... a lot of our later scripts were written by Todd, he's an excellent writer and I feel a deep regret that we all decided to fade away right when he began to hit his stride. Some of the later (never drawn) strips that he wrote were pure gold... and I know he's interested in working in that area.
So, you may ask... why not just do Blahsville if your both in the mood for projects? Well, truthfully? Todd and I have been pals for close to ten years now... we're like brothers, Smitty and I have been buds for a while now too. We're all good guys and we all go through lazy spells... so when that happened one of us would naturally become the task master... and none of use liked being it.
There's other reasons Blahsville running down... but the get a bit more complicated, ephemeral, and unspoken... so I'll just avoid tackling it for now.
Truth be told, I pretty sure that those who were the most sorry to see Blahsville go are the few friends we made through it's pages... we never got much fan response, but it was a funny feeling looking at the numbers and realizing that people were reading it. Some of those people sent us letters, some I met through promoting the site via reviews and whatnot.
It's those people that I miss the most. And that's what I'm taking away from all this, is that their are some really great and talented people out there... who are just all around swell guys and girls...
Maybe someday I'll complile a thank you list.
So anyway. As long as my reinstalled connection holds up, I'll do my best to keep posting through this journal. I'm also considering starting another journal for my artwork. I know some people use LJ for that, I know other like to do Deviant art (although I've heard bad stuff...) Is there anything super new and cool that I might have missed in my sabatical?

Which brings me to the next point, the Mayoral debates will be appearing in a giant sized super strip this Sunday! Don't miss it, because you don't want to go into this uninformed, do you?
Other fun news... my brother sent me some comics for my birthday. I'll place em behind a cut so you can view them in all their glory.

Just a quick reminder... in two weeks on Nov 2nd, you'll get a chance to change the course of Blahsville. That's right, you get to vote for Mayor... so if you haven't been reading us lately, you'll need to catch up... because from here on out we'll be posting everyday. So get yourself informed on the issues, learn about the canidates... and as the election draws nigh, we'll keep you posted.

Well gang. Here we are... just two days until the Motor City Comic Con. We've been breaking our backs to make sure that we have everything that we could possibly need to get ready.
There's still a few odds and ends that need to be ironed out... but we have some fun stuff in store.
First, we'll be selling mini-ninja and Tiki-god buttons 2 for a $1. That's right, and they look cool as hell. We'll also be doing a give-away for each day we're there. We haven't quite decided how we're going to do it. Maybe by signing people up for some sort of mailing list. What's the prize, you ask? Why, a mini-ninja T-shirt, or a tiki-god shirt.
Secondly, we have glossy prints of the 50th strip available for browsing or purchace.
We'll also have a poster or two.
The most of important thing, however... is we'll be there. Super-us. How cool is that?! Other members of the Blahsville cast might also be wondering around... such as Jeff and possibly X. We'll also be hanging with Matt Milby, who is the creative genious behind Gin and the Devil. Jesse Ruebenfeld, the creator of Cross Street Blues will also be avoiding us, as we have been known to pick on him and push him down stairs.
A quick reminder to all who plan to go... it's cash only, and for some reason they never make this known. So if you don't have cash, get some, or they won't let you buy tickets.

We're going to be at the Motor City Comic Con! Next weekend. We'll be sharing a booth (sorta) with good ole' Matt Milby.
So if you're in the area, drop by and say hi to us chaps. I have a feeling we'll need the ego boost being surrounded by all those "real" comic people.

Well, I think it's fair to say that not too many people read the stuff here, but I've decided to update it anyway...
You know, just in case.
First off, Blahsville is updating pretty erratically lately, but in a good way. You'll get ore than your money's worth in the next month as we update more than 3 times a week. As for the day it happens, that's a little up in the air. We'll try to keep it at least within the boundries of our MWF scheduale... but if this week is any indication, it be kinda random. So check back as often as you can. For this week we've updated Wed, thurs,friday... and will update sat and sunday.
I'll try to keep you all posted.
Next, you may or may not have noticed that the news box is back. Yea!
Also, since I've said it everywhere but here... Smitty appears in the new arc at Sawdust! Our pal J.P.'s comic. Read it, or not. But just know that people who don't read sawdust smell bad.
BTW, while you're there, congratulate J.P. on his impending doom.... I mean marriage on his Tag board.
He's got our support.
Lastly, if you are so inclined, Blahsville is up for possible awards, along with such sites as Gin and the Devil and Sawdust. Go and vote your concience. Or vote for us... either way.

Hey, thought I'd post this here, cause I seem to forget that some of you aren't on our forums. If you're no longer linked by us, that's not because we still don't love you... it's because we were pressed for time and designing new linkbuttons is time-consuming.

The new Blahsville comic is out. This one took a LONG time to do, and much PS learning was happening! Check it out. It celebrates our 50th strip, and is an action extravaganza! Jon's drawing was sublime, Todd and my coloring rocked like Dokken and Krokus' hairy love-child, and it is our best strip yet (IMO). And on top of all this, a site redesign that I think looks smoother and more polished than the old one did! So check it out, and let us know what you think!

I'm taking a week off. Next week, you won't see any comics from me, because with this cold sitting right between my ears, I not only cannot hear a damn thing, but my balance is all off... making it incredibly difficult to draw the strip. I also believe that the pressure is slowly driving me mad. It's at least making me very grumpy...
Does this mean we wont be updating next week? No, we plan on putting up something, but it's a surprise. A good one too. Of course, if anyone wants to help out with guest strips, lord know I wouldn't say no. But if not there will still be some Blahsville fun to be had.
Oh, and if anyone... I mean anyone knows a really good way to get a cold out of the ears I would be so greatful...
