Date restaurants in the area?
Hey guys!

It's coming up on me and my boyfriend's anniversary, and I wanted to know if you guys had any advice for a really good restaurant to go to for our special anniversary dinner on the 16th (a Sunday). The place we were currently thinking about was the Farmhouse Restaurant in Christiansburg. If anyone's been there, what did you think of it?

Any other places anyone can think of? We're trying to avoid the typical family restaurants like Applebee's, Macado's, Olive Garden and whatnot. Something special is definitely key since this is a special occasion for us.

Thanks, in advance, for the advice and comments! :)

looks cool in general, but good for an anniversary? Also, I'm not a fan of sushi/seafood... :-\ though, i do love fish, lol.

i would definitely go for an anniversary, but then again i love sushi. it looks like they have good seafood and steak meals too. i also will jump on the bandwagon and say zepolli's is an awesome place as well. my third choice would be cafe de bangkok.

Seconded. They have steaks, too if that's your thing.

If you like Italian, there is Zeppoli's. It's tucked away behind the Blockbuster and KFC. I haven't been there in about two years, but I remember it having great food and a really nice atmosphere. It's very quaint I guess you could say. And if you are of drinking age, they have their own wine store.

Just want to second Zeppoli's--when I lived in Blacksburg it **the** place we went for special occasions.

It's also pretty close to the top of the "things I miss about Blacksburg" list.

Third for Zeppoli's, Blacksburg's best-kept secret.

The Farmhouse seems to be the best bet for fancy, unless you're willing to go to Roanoke. Just one warning, though, if you're lookin' for steak, avoid Bogen's. Or just go directly to the Waffle House, since it's the same quality steak, you might as well pay the lower price.

Falls Church is a little ways away from Blacksburg.

Zeppolis is an excellent choice. From what I have heard, the Farmhouse has gone downhill quite a bit.

Too bad you don't like sushi, I was going to recommend a couple of places that are new.

Also, Sal's in Radford is good and the Thai House in Radford.

Cafe de Bangkok is yummy.

If you want super-special (as in reservations and NICE), the Summit in Christiansburg is supposed to be outstanding.

I like sushi. =) I tend to get it at the grocery store lately, but restaurants I'm sure are better. Do tell....

Blue Ribbon in Christiansburg, where Kayos used to be.

The other is in Radford. I forgot the name. It is a sushi bar - sushi ONLY!

Sushi factory in the u-mall is good priced and tasty stuff. Not really a place to dine in though.

Yo all this traditional american stuff is...well...dull. Farmhouse? whatever, everyones been to farmhouse and its all the same. Zepollis might be tasty and nice but once again, I'm pretty sure we've all had italian at least once a week our entire lives.
You want somewhere special, with atmosphere, and good service - without spending 100 bucks for one meal? Check out Nawab in Roanoke. Its easy to get to (know where center in the square is? right there) and most meals are around and under ten dollars.

Is India Garden the one there on Price's Fork with the music store and a frame shop or something like that? If that's the place I personally have to recommend somewhere else, the atmosphere and service are fine but the food isn't really up to snuff. It's pretty bland.

it is...i must have hit it on a good night, then. i'm not a connoisseur of indian food, but i enjoyed it. also, you can choose the level of spiciness in most dishes.

oh, boudreaux's! i've been there on a few dates over the years. this is really not the season for it, but the rooftop tables are very nice.

Bookbinders in Christiansburg... definitely date worthy and very yummy. The creme brulee is to die for. (this would be by selection).

Zeppoli's is also a good choice.

wow. you guys have a lot of good restaurants to look into. I don't think I'd want to go to Thai, seafood, or indian though, no offense. I'm a very picky eater...but of the suggestions, there are several websites I've found and saved, so thanks! I'll definitely take them into consideration and relay them to the boyfriend. :)

The Melting Pot would have been perfect if we had 1 in our area... but yeah. Something fancy, with a romantic/high-end atmosphere is definitely something that sounds appealing right now.

I'm still looking forward to hearing any more possibly comments about what you think of Farmhouse. I've seen it's website and it doesn't seem to really match up to the idea/things I've heard... though, I'm sure the food is good, but I want to make sure it's special. This is the last romantic dinner we'll have in a while probably...
