9:17 am - You Look Worse for Wear

phlaux
+ After 9 or 10 months of computer problems, my system is up and running. The first (demo) track since getting back into production is Every Little Thing. Enjoy.

+ I have a few web design projects in the works. During or after, I'm going to redesign Black-Ring.net. Woot.

This is very important, so I want to say it as clearly as I can: Fuck. That. Shit.</a>

phlaux
We're looking to send out demos to labels and radio stations, but we love all our songs equally. So we're looking for people to check out 7 of our tracks and pick their favorite three. All of them can be found at InternetDJ. High-quality MP3s are also available if we know you and you ask nicely.

Some songs have radically changed since the last time you heard them, so please check 'em all out when you get the chance. Afterwards, drop us a line on here or send an email.

xoxo,
Nace

11:48 am - Press Release: RICHARD HANNEMANN DEBUTS ALBUM "THE MUSICIAN"

randomeep
Richard Hannemann, singer/songwriter, guitarist/composer, is pleased to announce the availability of his debut album, "The Musician", on his website www.HannemannMusic.com

There are several elements to the unique listening experience of the album. It is not of a single genre throughout: there are 8 song tracks of a folk/country/standards blend and 4 solo guitar tracks of a classical/light jazz/blues nature. Mr. Hannemann's principle instrument is the classical guitar, which gives a warmer, richer tone than the more standard steel string guitar. His finger-style technique, itself a classical/folk blend, allows for straight-up to intricate accompaniments which create an internal rhythm for the songs and allows for solo instrumental bridges within the songs. The lyric songs add a 12 string guitar for foundation, and mandolin, melodica, and bass (as needed) as color polyphony to the vocal line. Mr. Hannemann plays all instruments. Then there are the narrative segues placed between the principle song tracks. Each narrative is accompanied by either the classical guitar, the 12 string, or the mandolin and, combined, we hear the story of a semi - retired musician advising a youngster just starting out on a life in music.

Many guitarists in the internet community may remember Mr. Hannemann from the old AOL GTRSIG as amadeus555, where he authored a series of guitar lessons. Those Lessons are also available in book form.

To audition and/or order The Musician, please visit Mr. Hannemann's site, www.HannemannMusic.com .

6:25 pm - Singing John Cage

phlaux
Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been sick the past couple weeks and lost my voice. Much like John Stamos' brother, I still can't hit some high notes. But while I was sick, I pumped out a remix. Check out EJ Lirik - Classical (Black Ring mix) for some sweet spooky ambient. EJ Lirik calls it "trippy, almost scary" so y'all should dig it.

For more songs or info about EJ Lirik, check out his IDJ page or his MySpace page.

3:56 pm - So goth, we fart bats

phlaux
I apologize for the lack of updates; last month was a blur of moving, furniture shopping, and fights with Comcast. But we have a few treats for y'all.

First off, March 31 was Abie's birthday! Everybody give her belated lovin'.

Second, "The Basement Song" has been uploaded for your listening pleasure to InternetDJ and will be up on MySpace whenever they fix some technical problems. A dub of a new track tentatively called "NTY" has been uploaded to InternetDJ as well.

We were unfortunately turned down for Alfa Matrix's Endzeit Bunkertracks compilation, but you should still check it out. It has a ton of exclusive tracks and remixes from artists including Neikka RPM, Implant, and the recently signed I:Scintilla. We're mailing out a single to another comp tomorrow. We'll let you know how that goes.

Until then, remember to check out the two new tracks. Later, kiddies.

phlaux
Hey, gang. We've finally released our first single--"Breaker (Assembled Mix)." Sorry, but it's for DJs only at the moment. For now, you can hear it at [info]rivetkitten's Rivet Riot show on WDUB. The station has an online stream, or you could listen to it if you happen to be in the Denison University area. You can also listen to us on DJ Lee's Electric Front Radio during the indie hour. Lee's been around for years and I've loved listening to his station for a number of them so this is a real cool honor.

If you know any goth/industrial/EBM DJs, let me know. Or let them know. Spread the word: the Black Ring revolution has begun!

Halcyon has been uploaded to MySpace and InternetDJ. Check it out and tell us what you think.

Our IDJ site is now a little less cumbersome too: www.internetdj.com/blackring/. Tell your friends. Spread it like herpes.

The results from the IDJ remix competition came in and, although we didn't place, we did get some great feedback. Another remix (for Alfa Matrix artist Unter Null) was just submitted and we're awaiting a response.

I'm off to get some coffee and then work on 4:19. Have a good one, loyal listeners.

5:46 pm - Voting Booth Is Open

phlaux
InternetDJ recently had a remix competition featuring "You Know I Got It" by Saeed Younan. I haven't listened to all 85 entries (I incorrectly said there'd only be 10 in the last post) yet so I'm not sure if Black Ring's remix is even entered. Either way, it's decent music by some great producers. Check it out and vote. The winner gets some nifty gear.

And when you're done that, go out and buy the new KMFDM. You'll dig it.

Has it been this long? Damn. I just wanted to let y'all know about the IDJ remix competition that I've been working on. The site will choose the top ten tracks and present them for voting on the 15th. I'm not sure if BR's version will be on there, of course, but it's still worth checking out.

More updates later, loyal fans.

As proof that our recent silence isn't a sign of inactivity, we present to you the unmixed version of The Basement Song. Tell us what you think.

We still have some stickers and buttons available on our merchandise page. All you need is a Paypal account or credit card. If you really can't use either, contact us and we'll work something out.
