kyooverse has an idea:
Recently, I read Killing Rage: Ending Racism by bell hooks. I found it to be a phenomenal read. So phenomenal, I would like to extend my time, facilitation skills, and planning to a reading of the book with other people. Currently there are a number of people interested. All you need is the book (which you can order from Amazon or any number of places or you can find in a local bookstore or in your local library), access to a computer, and a willingness to engage the text, each other, and your experiences.
Right now, I think it would be best to read the book at the start of the new year. That would give people the time to get the book without stressing out. I am considering starting a new community for this endevour, but part of me would rather couch it in one of the existing under-used communities. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
I am going to open this read up to all persons so please get the word out if you would like. The more people participating, the better for all involved. Participation*is*key! You are going to need some time to read and reflect and write.
Please respond to this post with any ideas, comments, etc. My leadership style is one that prefers to be based on what the group wants (yes, I am hella relational and communal). Because I have been around a while and have pissed oodles of people off, if you would like to participate but are feeling gun-shy, please, know that I want you, especially, on this project.
Thank you all and have a wonderful season.
Peace,
