For the Love of Superhead
Darius tries to run over Karine?
WTF?
the story behind the cut

Something is rotten in the cotton when it comes to the hot mess of a story that has had the blogosphere in a frenzy since late last week.
At the center of the sordid drama is Karrine Steffans; the self-proclaimed video vixen who became a best-selling literary sensation with her explosive tome 'Confessions of a Video Vixen' -- which detailed her numerous trysts with some of the biggest names in hip-hop and Black Hollywood.
The woman who will always be known as "Superhead" – a nickname thuggish ruggish rappers appointed her for her insatiable fellatio skills – filed a police report claiming that her current boyfriend, actor Darius McCrary, attempted to run her over with his car on June 5 near Universal Studios.
Before the police report became public, Steffans sent a frantic text message to gossip blogger Perez Hilton in the wee hours of the morning:
"It's Karrine. U have to help me. My boyfriend just tried to run over me with his car. [I] Just made a police report. In August, he placed me in a choke hold at a strip club on my birthday. There's a report and photos of that. There was another choking I never reported but is now being investigated. I lied to the city attny to save his ass but I'm DONE. He'll kill me if I go on with this. YES...Eddie Winslow from Family Matters! I have to give you this story. Pls!"
According to 'TMZ.com,' Steffans says the incident took place after she kicked the former 'Family Matters' star out for not pulling his weight around the house. Her 10-year-old son Naiim then "had an emotional breakdown" after not seeing McCrary for several days, so Steffans says she went to find her ex -- to talk.
She then claimed he was calm at first, but then became irate, getting into his car on the corner of Barham and Cahuenga, backing towards her and hitting her. McCrary then sped off, running over her foot, she says. She filed a police report hours later, and says she's in the process of obtaining a restraining order.
McCrary says otherwise.
"The allegations are not true," he said, adding, "Because I have been ignoring her pursuits, I feel that she is reacting immaturely and unjust."
"When I broke it off with her, I tried to maintain a friendship with her out of concern for her son," he continued. "A restraining order has been filed to ensure that Ms. Steffans does not continue to show up at my place of business or work, stalk or follow me, and damage any more of my personal property – as well as restrict her from accessing my voice mail and e-mails. "
Whoa.
"As evident in 'Confessions of a Video Vixen' and 'The Vixen Diaries' books, author Karrine Steffans is extremely talented in manipulating the truth and capitalizing at the expense of others," McCrary added. "Against my better judgment and at the advice of other notable public figures, I, too, regret getting involved with Ms. Steffans."
The couple was featured on the cover of 'Sister 2 Sister' magazine's December 2007 edition, in which McCrary told its publisher Jamie Foster Brown that he "had been kinda caught up in Karrine's web, and I'd been at her house for the past three months.."
"I believe that this is a difficult time for Darius," Brown told BlackVoices.com. "He indicated to me previously that his relationship with Karrine was a tumultuous affair, but that he did really love her and her son. It appears that in this case there are two explosive personalities working. I really hope that in the end, there is a reasonable explanation for all of this."
"From what I hear," she continued, "Darius recently missed a very important meeting for a film. This is crazy behavior for him. He's about business. After all, he has been in the business long enough to know how to play the game and if he's missing meetings, this cannot be a good thing. In spite of everything, I really do wish these young folks a better life."
Meanwhile, Norwood Young took a less diplomatic approach to the drama.
As a matter of fact, the former Pieces of A Dream front-man-turned-reality TV sensation let it rip when addressing the issue to BlackVoices.com
"As most people know, Darius is like a brother to me and we have been friends for many, many years," he explained.
"It saddens me to see that someone with such talent and an extremely bright future, is allowing a woman who self admittedly has extreme psychological issues and no talent whatsoever (with the exception of her oral prowess) ruin his life by ways of her deception and deceit," he added.
"By no means am I insinuating that Darius is an angel," Young noted. "He has his share of demons as well. However, his demons are personal, and he never intentionally sets out to harm people or destroy lives as any cost."
"I did not find it strange at all that Karrine called a member of the press (Perez Hilton) to leak this latest tale of abuse and drama," he continued. "Perez is one of a few members of the tabloid press she can call at any moment to leak a story (true or not). I now personally recall various times of which Karrine needed to be in the press for sheer attention sake, and she would make up a story, call her various "tabloid" reporter friends to give her press."
"She is addicted to attention and to the idea of being famous," he added. "It seems to me the last thing a person would want is the tabloids in their life exploiting something supposedly so tragic."
"What is hilariously sad, is that is who she ran to, to tell , "leak" her own tragic tale. I will say that she accomplished her mission and received all the press and sympathy she wanted ... Karrine is doing her best to sabotage and ruin Darius' career and life."
"It's a sad day in America, when such a dark sick woman can manipulate the lives of so many people, and we honor her foolishness by reading it, watching it and talking about it," he said, adding, "My grandmother always said, "If it don't come out in the wash, it's gonna come out in the rinse! Ms. Steffans' rinse cycle is about to start!"
When BlackVoices.com tried to contact Steffans for an on-the-record interview, she referred us to the 'TMZ.com' reportage, via email, and then went on to say that she couldn't "talk no more [because of] safety issues. I'm leaving town right now."
McCrary, who has just been cast in the sequel to 'The Transformers,' concluded: "I feel extremely sad for her and even sadder for her son. I look forward to putting this incident behind me."
If some crazy person was trying to run me over with his car, then I would call 911 for help. That's just me though
