beat that horse dead.

  • May. 23rd, 2005 at 12:11 AM
in the fashion of the recent race related posts (WHAT ELSE DO WE TALK ABOUT HERE), i'd just like to state something.

in the same way that white people don't have a problem with "BLACK PEOPLE," only "niggers," i don't have a problem with individual white people as i do with white folks as a whole.

[info]blackperson talked about letting them figure out the shit for themselves.
i agree.

it's not my job to explain shit to anyone, and if you choose to feel that way, so be it.
i'll admit to anyone that i'm not particularly fond of white people, i don't trust them as a whole, and if someone told me i'd never have to deal with another white person again, i can't say i would miss it terribly.

i'll never get why white people get so incensed when they're confronted with the knowledge that it's okay for us to be racist, and not them. and before anyone contests this, it's true.

they will never understand that something they were born with, that they had NO control over, has given them SO MUCH, by default. even the most homeless, broken down, drug addicted herpes riddled white person has it better (from a social standpoint) than the highest paid, most well spoken black person.

b/c, in the end, if that homeless ass cracker decided to get their shit together and clean it up, they could be president without imminent fear of assaination. the black person could not. and that's the end. simple as that. at this point in time, in this country, that's the way it is.

for the white people reading this, contempt flowing through their veins:

1. every black person you meet doesn't speak for every black person you haven't met.

2. you will never be able to call us "nigger" and have us be like "OH WELL" about it. in fact, if i HEAR that word on the tv, said in that context, if i READ it on the internet in that context, even if i'm not directly related to the situation, i envision A BLOODY CAUCASIAN DEATH.

3. speaking strictly for myself: i don't like you. i don't have to like you. you have to earn my respect & trust, otherwise you might as well have owned slaves, because that's the way i regard you. this country (and i speak strictly of the united states of america) is not tailored to my needs. i live in one of the most liberal states in the union & every day, i still feel the slight tension, i'm still confronted with some OLD ASS WHITE PEOPLE who think i'm obligated to do shit for them because i'm darker-skinned, i still have to work harder & speak better & be quicker & better looking than EVERYONE ELSE because i'm black.

so fuck you for thinking that i should be over it. i'm not. my children will know they can't be, either. not as long as people exist whose SOLE FUNCTION is to make their life hard because they're black.

An autopsy was never performed to determine the cause of death. The Tallahatchie County sheriff testified at the trial of the two white men charged with Till's murder that he couldn't be sure whose body it was.

That raised enough doubt about whether Till actually had been killed, a jury of 12 white men said in September 1955 when it acquitted the two defendants, Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam.

So you have the mutilated body of a dead 14 year old kid... The burden of proving that the kid has not only been murdered, but is even DEAD lies on the prosecuting attorney? Only in cases where the kid is black, I suspect. I love the South, but Mississippi is one of those places that I will never visit, unless absolutely necessary, because of reasons like these.

I think this will win as probably the most absurd thing I will see all day. America, you still have 12 hours and 40 minutes to baffle me with something else.

Watch Revenge of the Sith yesterday.

I didn't know that Darth Vader was a wife beater.

Because I had to.

I was having a talk with my friend about white people saying the same shit over and over. And she was like, "It's like connect the dots or Bingo!" And then I had to do it.

Stupid White Folks B-I-N-G-O )

It seems like everyone is having a rough week. So print this out and have fun on your lunch break. I know I will. Hell, I won twice this morning during a normal conversation.

Because I hate defaults THAT much.

For all my computer savvy friends out there- what are your most prized net-finds? What programs/apps could you not live without? I use the computer at school and home - and I hate using the default program for anything:

Example(s):

1) You'll never catch me listening to music on that crappy Windows Media Player shiz. I've sold my soul to winamp (www.winamp.com), and it's honestly the best mp3 playing application ever. Not only is it more user friendly and cuter but they host free music that you can access straight from the website or player.

2) AIM = crap. MSN messenger is (to me) sort of like the sophisticated "older sister" of AOL instant messenger. Better features, seems more appropriate for professional conversations and all. <3 (www.msnmessenger.com)

3) I just installed Firefox because Internet Explorer was getting boring. (www.firefox.com)

4) Sorry, but.... limewire. *hides in shame*

And there are some others - I've been known to try to find quirky yet RELIABLE programs on the web to customize my pc experience... but recently I haven't found much...not that i've been lookin' LOL. So what are some tried and true (and cute...as well as free) downloads you guys suggest for someone who hates the default in everything?

This community is three years old. The userinfo basics have remained largely unchanged. People use it as a defense for their ridiculous behavior. And they use it to justify why they feel comfortable in this space.

But don't think for one second that while I allow this community to be an open forum, that I will let it remain a space of aggravation.

"This is a community for black folks and their friends."

That is more than just 'hey everyone join'

[info]blackperson put this into words in a way I hadn't thought to, until the last few days of posts.

I'm sorry but, this is [info]blackfolk. This community was not meant with you in mind. People are going to vent about white people. If you feel you need to defend yourself in our space, maybe you shouldn't have joined it.

so if you "don't know for sure".. now you know.

I am not asking any member of this community to leave. I ask that you take note of the situation you're in, and know when to sit down and shut up.

Mass Community Rally For Dr. Keith Motley
Tuesday, May 24th 11 am
225 Franklin Street, downtown Boston
At UMass President Jack Wilson's Office

University of Massachusetts President Jack Wilson believes that an unemployed white male with rich white friends is more valuable than a black male who has been doing a great job for a year.

When will qualified black people who work hard and earn the right to lead a public university be ready?

President Jack Wilson has chosen Dr. Michael Collins to be the new chancellor for the University of Massachusetts Boston. Dr. Keith Motley, the interim Chancellor have been portrayed as not being a 'Traditional' academic, while the candidate chosen, besides being a white male, is far from having a 'traditional' academic background. The Sophie Kerr is the largest undergraduate award in the US and one of the largest ones in the world. And this year it went to one of my good friends, Claire Tomkin.

She is one of the most humble people I've ever met. Seriously a joy to meet. I love it when underestimated Black people prove everyone wrong. Here's a shout out to all the underdogs!

Sidenote: And I take a little bit of evil pleasure because the girl who one it last year was a druggie. And when her house got raided and the cops found all her shit, she'll be spending that dough on more drugs and defense lawyers. But my girl Claire needed that cash. Good things DO happen to good people.

I don't know what's worst... eating at Justine's... reduced to performing open mics at Justine's... or having to shelf his new single "Every little stab I take"

Cocaine's one helluva drug!

I was wondering, (as you all know I'm quite the intellectual)

Why is Bobby Brown mouth damn near up on his earlobe when he talks??

A theory of mine is that he had a secret drug induced stroke and didn't tell nobody.

Any other theories why he can lick his own ear?

PSA of the day:

Kool-Aid/Tea does not have to rot your teeth to be enjoyable. Three cups is enough sugar for a gallon. Four is pushing it. A whole bag is a diabetic coma.
BOSTON (AP) Afghan President Hamid Karzai told Boston University graduates Sunday that countries should look beyond their national interests in making foreign policy.

"After all, it is our humanity that ultimately brings us together while the pursuit of narrow interests divide us all," he said.

"Regrettably the world, the United States and other countries ... did not see it compatible with their national interests to address the plight of the Afghan people" before the Sept. 11 terror attacks, he said.

Karzai was elected president after the United States removed the Taliban from power after Sept. 11.Read more... )
