I'm not sure if this kind of thing is allowed, but I suppose in a moderated community I'll find out soon enough?

Not too long ago I was on an online messaging board (that may or may not have been for Teen Vogue). The girls on that site were all bored of the fashion magazines out there today, so we decided to make our own.

This was the result:

It's still got a lot of kinks to work out - everyone involved was between the ages of 15-19 - but overall I think it turned out well.
There are also some blackcigarette members featured. [info]hannahkarina is in this issue and [info]sandypandycandy will be in the next.

i think it's a great idea but i dont like that each page has to load individually,
http://neetmagazine.com/ for example has a preloader that loads all the pages at once so when you flip through the pages there is no waiting time.

but yeah, great concept but if it preloads all of it it's much less annoying.

you did a good job being teens and all. but if you really did this because you're sick of other fashion mags, you ought to try bringing something new or different to the table.

Although the design is a bit amateur, I enjoyed reading the articles. And you know, I've visited the MySpace before - I don't know where I got the link from, though. I hope it continues to develop as an independent, nonfunded publication.

You've all done an excellent job on this. For the first issue, it looks really promising - I especially like the mix of articles on general stuff (like 'It Girls') and the emphasis on 'real' inspiring people, from what they're wearing to their art.

If you're ever looking for people, I'd love to contribute. I've written articles for magazines before and aim to work in magazine or newspaper journalism, so would welcome the experience...

That's a really cute idea. Personally, I'm having some issues with the layout and text choices (and the colours), but it's really a fun idea and looks promising.

well I think it would be a good idea to explain how to turn pages on the VERY FIRST page (page 0) but I just clicked on the little page icons on the bottom of the screen and it was fine so maybe it's not a big deal.
enjoyed the writeup on "it girls."
I have skinnified pants before. when I was punk, ha.
pretty pictures for me to look at A+.
I think it's really cool that you girls did this! I love to see people make things.

Suggestion: make the layout design a bit more chic and do spell check. Also, stray away from articles that complain all the time. I had the overwhelming feeling that every article was upset with how things were. Yeah, well, instead of complaining about it, do something.

(That is not directed toward you, seeing as you're just someone who is linking prim to us :-)

I don't know a ton about publishing but I worked at a college newspaper for a few years and have done a lot of magazine reading so here are a few ideas from a novice:
-The font is awful. It is so awful. It looks blocky and bulky and bad. I know it seems like such minutae but it really took away from the experience for me.
-The text seems really heavy. I understand that there are a lot of words in these stories but the way it's been layed out looked really bulky and daunting, making the stories seem less appetizing for a reader. Try breaking them up a little bit more.
-Some one above said that you ought to bring something new to the table. I agree. I like that you guys included a little piece on politics and I was also really into the how-to part. If you guys included more things like this -essays, DIY stuff- I really think you would have something unique here.
