how to decorate your space
Hello my little blackciggies... Your house, your home, your space is all yours. Its the one place in the world where you are king (or queen, if you'd rather). It should therefore be as amazing as you and the way you live your life... Anyway, below the cut are some tips I've put together to help you decorate your space and make it amazing...

And out of curiousity, post some pictures of your dream home/room/how you would decorate it... What would you prefer? A minimalist, retro, victorian, or contemporary look?

also, my cousin's fridge has the chalkboard on the freezer door. it comes in handy and it looks adorable, but i learned not to bend down gradually to get something in a fridge because i got chalk all over my hair.

cut didn't work.
but i would love to have a completely black and white house, furniture/walls wise, so that i could have pops of color places.

whoa, that would be so cool, like have a bright red or green bathtub with black and white striped walls.

My ideal house would be decorated in both a classic, feminine style that is rather sensual and seductive than proper - by that I mean, lots of soft whites and creams with antique flower sketches and old books and classic furniture but paired with dark red (i love, love dark reds) rugs, blankets, curtains, runners, organisers etc etc etc!

I have already lived in my ideal apartment, before they got torn down at the end of summer.

Our entire apartment was painted a beautiful bright gold color, and we painted our front door, too. All of our furniture was from the thrift store and it all fit our color scheme perfectly.

Alas, my bf and I now live with my mother because it is free. Some day we will relive the dream. haha!

I have a very precise idea of what my future apartement is going to look like. :)
first of all, it's gonna be an old building in a city, with huge windows, high ceilings, red plush carpet and victorian style wallpaper. there'd be lots of vintage furniture, old photographs and vintage movie posters, long curtains, pictures by degas and toulouse-lautrec, lots and lots of flowers [roses and orchids and lilies, mainly], huge golden picture frames, my beloved theatre-style mirror with lightbulbs and all, porcelain figures, a balcony, a flowery little kitchen, empty wine bottles used as vases, old books, a cast-iron bed, an old grammophone... etc etc, you get the idea ;)

my living quarters are limited, a tiny apartment built in the 1930's. I had a hard time in the beginning downsizing, but now it feels like home to me.

I lived in my dream house! It was a 100+ year old house with hardwood floors, stained glass windows, and a big porch and fenced in front yard. It's not in the best shape here, these were taken after it sat vacant for a bit when we were moving out (long story).

The stairwell

My dream rooms:

http://www.curbly.com/drop-out-boogie/clippings

I'm pretty sure I've plugged it here before, but curbly.com is super cool because you can add "clippings" of home images you like to your site by drag & dropping...super cool.

Some inspirational books (which I have also posted in the past):
Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui
Weird Rooms
Flea Market Style

I dream of living in a 50s Modern Ranch Home...although I'm very fond of 30s Craftsman & Bungalow homes, too. Right now I live in a renovated 1927 Craftsman (rental), and it's a beaut.

I love all the rooms in the 'amazing use of space' section! I love quite cluttered spaces with a lot going on, interesting wallpapers, patterns and colours, stacked with books and other curios. On the other hand i do like the more modern look - my own apartment doesn't have the cluttered, patterned thing going on at all. I think that sort of thing looks best in a period house.
