Do any of you have themed rooms? I was interested in fancying up my place, but me and my boyfriend live together in a one bedroom/one bathroom apartment, and I have to stray away from making it look too feminine.

My ideal room is Marie Antoinette inspired, something that reminds me of the country cottage she had built. I'm looking for decorative ideas. So, if any of you have themed rooms, please post pictures.

Also, I was browsing around Anthropologie.com for knick-knacks to decorate my home with, but realized that most of everything I wanted was way out of my price range. So where are your favorite places to shop for affordable homewares?

I don't; however, I'm in the process of redoing my room. I like modern style, however, the picture you have posted is absolutely gorgeous.

I recommend you check out [info]saucydwellings. I'd love to see what people have to post here, but that community has some crazy-gorgeous homes! It's very inspiring.

I actually joined that community months ago, but didn't even think of posting my questions there. Thank you.

Well, the best place to post questions would be saucyhelp!! A lot of the same people are in that community, and it's more of a q&a one then saucydwellings.

My room is sort of one big collage of posters and pictures. It's quite small, so I like it feeling festive. I don't have a picture of my whole room, but I have a picture of some of the collages on my wall..
I havent changed it in a while though, I need to update/change all the muscian pictures.

I've never seen Breakfast at Tiffany's, but I've heard (and in this case seen) about it three times since Saturday night. I think it's a sign that I should rent it soon.

Mine used to be absolutely covered in pictures, posters and very tacky green tape. So I guess I used to have a very tacky room, but I was very fond of it.

Room 1
Room 2

I have that same cuckoo clock but in a metallic finish. I was excited to get it in the mail, but when I opened the package I was disappointed that it looked like cheap aluminum. I still haven't returned it. I need to. But I like the one you have, it doesn't look even half as plastic-y as mine.

Nice room, btw.

I like that style too (it's called 'shabby chic' usually), but i live with a guy. UGGHHH. he likes modern things and i like antiques, but we cope.

but our apartment totally isn't decorated to a theme at all...yet.

I like the whole shabby chic look, but I find that I have such a different colour palette when I actually get down to it that I could never get any of that stuff and make it work.

For getting anthropologie-esque items for less, I recommend looking at target around Valentine's Day... they [usually] have some stuff that is cheap and romantic-style. You just have to ignore the kitchy hearts and bright red pillows. :D

Pottery Barn and other places like that usually have things like that as well... and of course, you could always go thrifting/antiquing.

I'm in the same boat as you. I go through color phases. One minute I'm into bright, funky colors and the next, I'm into pastels and floral prints. All my stuff is so mismatched, my apartment would look like it has a kaleidoscope theme.

I'm not sure if there's a Pottery Barn close to where I live, but I'll definitely look into it. Thank you for the suggestions.

I painted my room with my friends, that being two years ago I guess I'm stuck with it being emo punk rawk themed lol. It's rainbow coloured with stripes all round ahhaha

I get a lot of my knick-knacks and housewares from the thrift store I work it (and it's all cheap). I had a Marie Antoinette party in the summer and a lot of my decor was from that store so yeah THRIFT IT UP.

Sounds like a nice theme for a room! I like Anthropologie, as wll as restoration hardware but both do tend to be pricey. I like browsing through esty.com they have some nice stuff. Also unicahome.com :)

I would LOVE to have a Marie Antoinette themed room, but I live with my boyfriend, also in a one bedroom/one bathroom. He probably would not love the idea of living in a girly apartment.

I am currently re-doing my room and I toyed with the same idea but instead have settled on a grown up treehouse/library/robin hood english countryside look.
