Current mood: sad

Sad thing that should be stopped!
I was on a friends site when I read a comment left on her guestbook that linked to this site, I got sick to my stomach. I can't believe people like these are allowed to roam the world. I know how much everyone loves their pet on this site (I ADORE MINE) and I would love for us all to join forces and put an end to both this site and it's owner. I am terribly hurt by this site, just see for your selves.

!!!GRAPHIC IMAGES!!! just a bit of a warning.

This is pretty hypocritical.
The cat was old and sick. Killing it by twisting its neck is a pretty quick death. And she skinned it and made a purse. How is that different from a leather jacket made from a cow?
I love how much people get upset about this.
I'm in Amsterdam right now and there's a book launch for her hate mail book and I really wish I could go...

damn.

I posted that here because perhaps we can all complain somewhere and have that site shut down. Maybe we can even get an investigation going on that person, isn't that animal cruelty?

This makes me think of bonsai kittens: http://www.hoax-slayer.com/bonsai-kittens.html

Not to be rude or anything, but this looks strangely like a hoax. Yes, she is clearly skinning a cat but believe it or not that is a pretty common thing to do in highschool and college biology/anatomy classes. It is also common for lab participants to take their "projects" home so they could study for tests outside of school.

If is not a hoax, I'm not sure if there is really anything we can do.

I heard about the bonsai kitten thing years ago, however this looks nothing like the bonsai kitty site. We never used cats in the labs, we used frogs and baby pigs. But never cats or dogs or anything of that sort. But for the sake of the kitty, I hope it is... but I doubt it's fake.

also you are giving them something they want by posting this here: you are giving them attention... thats exactly what they are looking for and you gave it to them.

I saw the front page and that's all, but that was enough to make me sick to my stomach and start crying. I think that it is just awful, personally I think it is just as bad as any animal being made into a fur anything. I see those furrier commercials on tv and I just can't understand how people can feel so good and so happy in a coat that is made from a dead animal. I think it is horrible that any animal is used for such things. I think animals are totally mistreated in that respect, I mean what if we started cutting up humans and making them into coats. We don't do that, so why do we do it to animals. I think these people have lost their sanity on this website and to look so happy with their new cat purse well that is just purely sickening.

Are you all retarded? The cat was obviously dead before hand. Why throw away a perfectly good pelt?

It felt no pain and it was in no discomfort at all.

We all know now that the bonzai kitten was a big hoax, this however, doesn't seem to be. The High school biology disection industry seems to be way more violent than this as they raise the cats for the sole purpose of cutting them open to educate the next generation.

It is an animal. Stop humanizing them.

The truly offensive part is that she's ruining good quality pelts with her shoddy craftsmanship. Christ, woman, somebody could have made an actual, excellent taxidermy mount with that guinea pig or cat or rabbit, and you're hacking the skin apart with SCISSORS for your shitty art projects. Take a taxidermy class so you stop ruining things.

I certainly agree with the whole 'She should be more careful with that thing'. Not that I'd skin my own pets, but even if I did I'd probably be satisfied just keeping the pelt mounted somewhere nice.

Came across this... I know you were late to reply too, so I don't really care how late this is either.

Eating animals is natural. We have teeth that are made for eating meat.

Putting a robot inside a corpse is NOT natural. It's a sick form of entertainment and a really lame excuse for art. Since the animals died naturally, the fur would be put to MUCH better use keeping someone warm. (I get mad at people who throw red paint on fur coats - then, the animal dies for no reason at all except to make a statement, and it's a complete waste.)

It's not a double standard. Animal products do not bother me as long as the animals lived and died naturally (yes, this includes hunting, because hunting occurs in nature all the time), and as long as the animal wasn't just killed for one thing. The Native Americans made it a point to use every part of the animal for PRACTICAL use... so that its death would not be a waste. And they prayed over the animal after they hunted it, thanking it for its sacrifice (unwilling, sure, but at least they showed respect).

This, however, isn't practical OR respectful. It's a cry for attention. I have no problem if you're not comfortable eating meat, because it's your choice and you have every right to it. But don't go saying that eating meat is EXPLOITING animals if we're just doing what any other carnivorous or omnivorous animal would do - which is NOT making some stupid shock art.
