This = Ridiculous! US elected official spews nutty hate speech
To quote directly from gay blogger [info]jesus_h_biscuit, because we couldn't say it any better:

A few choice quotes from Representative Kern: Studies show, no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted for more than, you know, a few decades . . . They are going after our young children, as young as two years of age, to try to teach them that the homosexual lifestyle is an acceptable lifestyle . . . One of my colleagues said We don't have a gay problem in our community ... well you know what, that is so dumb. If you have cancer in your little toe, do you just say that I'm going to forget about it since the rest of you is fine? It spreads! This stuff is deadly and it is spreading. It will destroy our young people and it will destroy this nation.

This is what they say when they think we're not listening.

This isn't Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Fred Phelps, or John Hagee. This isn't Rod Parsley, Osama Bin Laden, Adolf Hitler, or Fox News - this is an elected official. One whose influence is felt and held by a constituency, one who is active in the politics old hysteria and division.

Note: And you all will be horrified to learn the person sits on the Education Committee in the Oklahoma legislature (Edit) AND we are further dismayed to report this person used to be a teacher!!! Imagine having THAT person who was harboring those ignorant and hateful thoughts teaching your child (or to you and your sisters and brothers for that matter). Ick, just ick.

Please visit www.victoryfund.org/listening and add your name to the growing list of people who are listening to this noxious propaganda, but are not buying it. Currently there are only 2100+ 166,681 people numbered, and that number needs to go up - WAY up.

Also even if you are not in her district (or her state or even country) you may wish e-mail Representative Kern (sallykern@okhouse.gov) or phone her office at (405) 557-7348 and (in a polite and civilized fashion please) her know how you feel about hate speech.

I'm straight and I just feel hate radiating towards this woman for those words! I was raised Christian and I believe love is love, it knows no gender. I feel sick that she really thinks those stats are true from what I've heard gay relationships last better and longer than some straight ones. God bless people like John Barrowman who stand out against people like this.

Hahahahaha. This is in the same state that started the whole Intelligent Design thing in schools. This is a backwards hick of an elected official, elected by backwards hicks. This shouldn't even surprise anyone, after 8 years of Rick Santorum spewing this same crap on *TV*.

The best part though, was how she said "This is the biggest threat our nation has, even moreso than Terrorism or Islam". Because you know, the second largest religion in the world after Catholicism is clearly pure evil. We need to invade the whole of North Africa and preach the bible to them all! And after that, we can purge the United States of America of the evil Mennonites. Who the *hell* do they think they are, sayin' that y'all don't need to get baptized until you're old enough to tell the difference?

I don't send letters to these twits, or sign petitions. I point and laugh. The petition will be ignored because noone within her own riding signed it anyway.

Between being furious at this and having the flu, I'm not coherent enough for letter-writing right now, but I'll definitely send one tomorrow. And I'll make sure I include the amount of "infiltrating" this Bi woman has done...

-Chairwoman, local Young Republican club
-YR Representative to county Republican Committee
-GOP Precinct Captain
-webmaster, state Young Republican federation

I'll probably also mention the past president of the local Log Cabin club, whose list of grassroots leadership positions in the GOP is bloody *huge* compared to mine, and is a widely respected expert on Northern Virginia politics. Maybe moderate voices like his and mine are like drops of water against a volcano in the end (especially in Virginia), but at least we're making a presence of ourselves. Sort of "we're here, we're queer, we're in your party."

One thing you should keep in mind when invoking the word of God during the course of your political rants is the "separation of church and state". But if you feel so strongly about the Bible, you should crack that thing open to Matthew and start reading. A person as hateful as you could learn a thing or two about judging others from the son of God. I suggest Matthew 7:3. And though the Bible makes a few references to homosexuality, it does not advocate the hatred your are spewing. Remember, hate the sin, love the sinner? Kinda dropped the ball didn't you? After all, Homosexuals are still human beings.
By the way, I am an Oklahoma resident. And I would never vote for you under any circumstances.

its people like that who arre destroying our nation what the fuck did gay people ever do wrong ok so AIDS primarily started in homosexual men but it wasnt there fuckin fault its not like they woke up one day saying hmm . . . i am gonna go out and have sex so i can get AIDs so i can help spread a horrible disease no they didnt so you cant blame them it was destined to happen it just happen to be a gay man that had do you think AIDs cares about your sexuality NO it doesnt most common crimes based on sexuality are done by straight men i have never met a gay guy that wanted to go out killing straight guys because they arent gay no its straight guys goin out killin homos because they arent straight so no its people who are homophobic that are bringing down this nation personally if narrow minded people like her would get over themselves and realize that weather they like it or not this is the future for this country this would be a much better place they dont have to be gay but the least they can do is let the ones who are be gay in peace we dont go hetero bashing why should they what makes us wrong? who says that a man cant lay next to a man at night if that is what makes him happy and keeps him from killin people or doin whatever the i am all for it if you like pussy hey more power to ya its people like her that need to retire its people like her who are corrupting this country. . .
