sexual orientation/identity, etc. -- a survey.
"Dear Participant, I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology at the Wright Institute, Berkeley, California. The following questionnaires are part of a national study I am currently conducting on sexual identity and personality. Your participation in the study will contribute to an effort to increase our understanding of this subject area and will be greatly appreciated. Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and refusal to participate will not involve any penalty or loss of benefits."

I took this, it seems reasonably well put together. I only have a little gripe with the over-use of the word "gay" to refer to behavior rather than identity, but other than that, it seems okay. Maybe you can help by taking the survey.

Not a bad study. I like her thoroughness on the demographics.

I did rag on her a bit for this question:

- 48. Do you know people who appear to be bisexual?

I think she means "do you know people who date from more than one gender group," but she should be clearer.

I didn't rag on her for the weaknesses of the Klein Sexual Orientation Grid, which are not her fault - but man, I wish Fritz would update it to reflect that there's such a thing as "bi community." We don't just "hang out equally in the hetero and gay communities;" we also hang out in the bi community. Which he damn well knows, being bi himself.

I live in a city of some 2 million people - Phoenix - and I've been here for almost twenty years. I have yet to see a "bi community" - and let me tell you, it would be refreshing to be able to make some friends that don't view my wife and I as a freak or a threat. ;)

Doesn't mean the communities don't exist - depends where you look. I live in a tiny city in the UK, but a large number of people I know are bi, and very few are gay; I feel that some of the circles I mix in are part of a bi community.

I can't believe the question about religion includes everything from Lutheran to Mahayana and not Unitarian Universalism. Grrr...

We can only be certain of our descriptions about reality and not reality itself. (agree/disagree)
We can really only come to know about the world through communicating with others. (agree/disagree)
Even when we speak of scientific truths, what we are essentially discussing are our stories that we have constructed about what is true. (agree/disagree)

Holy trip back to undergraduate communication theory courses, Batman! :O
