    Help! I've lost you all!

Apologies to anyone who has already seen my recent post in my personal LJ, but, if you know me and see this post, can you please hop over to my LJ and read the important post linked to below:

    http://saintmaryuk.livejournal.com/124104.html

I am posting here to catch anyone who knows me through this group, but isn't in the habit of reading my personal journal.

Thank you lovely people.  Sorry to those who my have already seen this elsewhere.

Thank you very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very much!
OK, I have no choccies to give you, but thank you for making me feel so welcome and at ease last night.  I had no real idea how stressed I was until I was there and felt the weight fall off my shoulders.  It also struck me forcibly that this is a group of people my partner would get along with, which added another layer of shiny.

Oh, and for the record, feel free to say hi any time - outness is not a problem.

We've a shiny new flyer advertising BiPhoria and our sister group in Birmingham [info]brum_bi_group, so usable anywhere from about Kendal to Gloucester! (also plugs BCN magazine so useful even if either group is a little hard to get to)

I've a big stack of them so if you've somewhere local you can distribute them - community centre, LGBT project, library etc - give me a shout.

Oh, and they look like this:

    Hello?
    Hi -

I've been considering coming along to the next Biphoria meeting.  I'm in east Cheshire, where there's absolutely no support whatsoever for queer women, and I'm missing the queer community I had when I lived in the US.  It wasn't built around shared orientation, it just happened that way!  Over the past couple of years, I've realised how much has changed - having been out of the closet for a long while and having supportive friends around me who simply accepted my orientation (even though I am - gasp! - monogamously married to a man), I'm finding the isolation of being a married bi woman in a town with no queer community I can identify is getting me down.  I'm hoping that Biphoria will help, but I confess to being a bit shy about turning up.

    Manchester BiFest
BiFest is back in Manchester on Saturday 21st July!

We should all know what a BiFest is, but if not... )

More information at manchester.bifest.org, and like everything else these days it's also on Facebook and MySpace.

For new BiFesters, or those coming from afar, I'll be waiting next to Tie Rack (main concourse) on Manchester Piccadilly station between 1045-1145 and walking down to LGF, if you don't want to come down alone or just fancy someone to chat to on the way. You'll be able to recognise me by the kitty hat if you haven't met me before (see my icon!)

    Very Gay Indeed
    Sir;

Your webpage, linked to here, has been brought to my attention, and I am writing to you to express my outrage at the vile calumny you have levelled at many individuals and bands.

I am quite, quite appalled at your evident inability to perform the merest shred of research into just how "gay" many of these musical performers are. It is quite beyond belief that, for example, k d lang and Tegan And Sara are propagating a Gay message. All three women have made it quite clear that theirs is a Lesbian message. In a similar vein, the messages which Bjork and Green Day are - very successfully, I might add - disseminating to the wider world is a Bisexual message, as they have repeatedly stated in the world's press.

Speaking as a member of the bisexual community, which, to make it quite clear, is indeed looking to destroy your cruel way of life, and also to re-educate your offspring away from the bigoted, narrow-minded modes of thought which you engender in them, I would like to make a simple request. If you are going to offend the queer community, please have the common decency to offend it properly.

Morrissey, on the other hand, is deeply questionable. You have me there, I'm afraid.

Yours wrapped snugly in both pink and blue blankets,

    Apropos of nothing...
Found this on another LJ group; sung to the tune of "Do The Conga", I believe, and originally from the BBC. Comments?

"Do Do Do, we're not homophobic, Do Do Do, we just hate Ashley Cole."
Song sung by the Arsenal fans at Stamford Bridge after police had warned anyone making homophobic chants would be thrown out.

    Bi Day BiFest
We're planning another day of workshop sessions and speakers; creative stuff and social space. This time without an evening space (cos we didn't find anywhere suitable we could afford!)

This time it's on Saturday 23rd September, from noon til 6pm.

Bookmark http://manchester.bifest.org/ for further info, and more to come soon, including a programme and local information.

Hoping to see you all there!!

    Meant to say this sooner...
Brilliant Pride presence this year by BiPhoria under the guise of Bisexual Recruitment Army on parade and with a stall in the community area for three days.

We also got two radio interviews and one TV interview about what the group is & does, with the b.r.a. website plugged on BBC local radio and BiFest plugged on all three :o)

Manchester Pride, Manchester Bifest needs YOU!
A few good men, women and all points in between are required to sign up for the Bisexual Recruitment Army - 'negating bisexual invisibility through bad camouflage' (website to follow, shortly).

At Manchester Pride, there's a stall manned this Saturday to Monday inclusive - feel free to visit, and if anyone who hasn't already wants to volunteer for some time manning it, please do as this gives the existing volunteers time to go and Do Stuff™.

There are also various activities planned for Manchester Bifest. It will be marvellous, and ably handled by the Manchester crew, but I also wish to ask for resource. In particular we need :

    1. People! It'll be lovely to see everyone

    2. Workshop resource. I will be asking other [info]biphoria people again about this, currently we have resource in all workshops except two :

      • Bi families/parenting. It would be splendid to run this, and I'm going to try and encourage a few people but so far we have *no volunteers* and none of the existing workshop organisers can really help in this area..

      • A 'coming out' workshop, hosted by myself and someone else. I would like to co-host it with someone that's had a tougher time than I have, to provide some balance.

    3. If anyone has stencils for use with badge making, this would be useful.

There are people who have experience in these areas at [info]biphoria but they're not necessarily available, and I want to check if there's resource elsewhere, just in case.. The Bi families area is one that tends to be a bit neglected at times despite its importance, and I'd love that to be resolved

On a side note, the last [info]biphoria meeting had 24 attendees providing valuable discussion, followed by splendid social time. We rule :).

    We'd appreciate your input!
Hi, I'm posting here because it is glbtq related and I feel strongly that your input can really make a difference. However, if it is not in alignment with the essence of this community, please feel free to release this post.

    I want to introduce a brand-new homo/bi/t friendly community: [info]happy_gay_life

This is a community dedicated to building a positive glbtq image by sharing joyful and constructive experiences of being glbtq.

Ever wonder why there are so few glbtq stories/movies with happy endings? I did.

I figure out that it has to come from us. We've got to count our blessings and share these lovely moments with each other: the special moments that bring smiles to our faces, that make our hearts sing, that tickle us, that move us to tears of joy ... on a daily basis.

Every time you share a line of joy, you're contributing to building a positive glbtq image and creating a better life for yourself.

Come! Join us and have some fun!
