SEATTLE PRIDE, Sunday, June 28th - Dianna, SBWN
This years theme is Peace, Love and Equality. If you have a poster sign or
Tshirt you'd like to wear on theme or share please do, but it's not required.
We are meeting at 10:45 at 4th and Madison as number 116 in the parade line.
We are behind Emerald City Softball and a bears camping group called Northern
Xposure. The parade ends at Denny on 4th avenue. There is an announcer on 4th
and Bell who will stop our group for a second and talk about each parade group
briefly. We have our SBWN banner and a Bi flag to carry for anyone interested.
BiNet is signed up with us, but am not sure they will be able to bring their
banner. If you are interested in helping to carry their banner, in addition to
ours, please email me off list. I am hoping for volunteers. Right now we have
around a dozen people who have said they are coming, but many Binet members
will be out of town, so we can use the help.
WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES or at least bring some if you are a fashion diva. Bring
sunscreen, or a hat and/or sunglasses. Water and a snack is important. We
have Bi buttons to wear and pride will be selling buttons to raise money for
the remaining pride debt, so bring a little cash, too for those.
Bus or walk in, or have someone give you a ride and drop you off a few blocks
from 4th and Madison. There is construction on nearby streets and no parking.
If you follow the numbers of the floats once you get to fourth, we are easy to
find as number 116.
The parade will not be televised as of yet, but they will videotape and
webstream. Bring a camera if it's fun for you.
Parade protocol: Ignore protestors (if there are any), walk at an easy pace,
but don't leave gaps between the groups.
Don't throw anything. If you want to walk close to the crowd and hand out our
cards, that's fine and fun.
If you want to yell, whistle, yoodle, whatever, this is your chance. The
crowds love us and we get cheers all the way through the city if we start the
crowd cheering. Several of us have talked about having a party at someone's
house nearby after we are done marching.
It's going to be really fun. Hope to see you there!
