A band that deserve to be huge!
WHO ARE BIFFY CLYRO?
The singer/guitarist is called Simon Neil (DOB 31 August 1979 he's exactly one day younger than me!), the bassist is James Johnston and the drummer is Ben Johnston (Ben and James are twins, I don't know who is older).
WHEN DID THE BAND ORIGINALLY FORM?
The band originally formed in 1996 or 1997.
WHERE DID BIFFY CLYRO GET THEIR NAME FROM?
Biffy clyro got their name from an obscure place, but its more of a story than most bands have. At their school, one of them had a Cliff Richard biro. They all referred to it as 'The cliffy biro'. One of them accidentally twisted their tongue and came out with 'Biffy Clyro', which obviously had a lot more significance than they had expected.
At a later date they denied this and said they just wanted something that no one had ever heard of (they told me this backstage). I then informed them that Biffy was a old western American word for a toilet then Ben said that Clyro was a town in Wales and Simon and Ben both said that that would make an even better story! I wonder if they'll start to use that!
