an idea for BiCon 2003 (and other future ones)
I've done a new web page explaining the idea of "Community Info Zones". I await people's comments with interest, whether enthusiastic or critical :-)

Sounds like a good idea. We could have a soc.bi/#soc.bi section too. I'd be willing to help with the Christian bis (and maybe the monogamous bis) sections, but I'm not aware of much in the way of existing FAQs in this regard.

Well, it'd be fun seeing some of those groups trying to agree on what to have in their space!

When I read the first paragraph or two I was expecting you to be talking about bi groups / services rather than the interest groups.

With the exception of the person you met at the Peer Ed weekend, and who hasn't been at a bi community event for a while, I can only think of one person who's semi-out about being HIV+ and who has. And I don't think I have a current contact email or other address for them.

Definitely a good plan. I've been trying to sell Bicon to a couple of people and I know they find some of the stuff you mention scary (as I did when I first found out about it 6 years ago - just look at me now!) Definitely worth doing if it can make people feel safer and more comfortable.

Skim read.

Seems like a good idea and fits well with some of the ideas for the 2003 regi/welcome area too. But I'm not sure there'll be enough space for one board for each of the fifteen SIG's you list as examples. You went on the orientation tour, where do you envision the displays happening?

Along the atrium. (I couldn't tell from your comment there whether you've seen it yourself yet or not, but it's huge - maybe 10 times bigger than the area last year with the reg desk.)

Though in fact I don't necessarily expect all the groups to want an equally large space. Some might only produce one or two pieces of A4, and it would still serve the purpose of saying "we exist, hello people".
