My experiences with DND

Hi,

I have been testing tqh's DND build for a few days, and here are my experiences. Note, please, that this build is still limited to DND within Firefox.

# DND and Toolbar customization: seems to work as expected. You can DND to and from the toolbar, and see each element added/deleted from the toolbar as it is supposed to work.

# Text DND: it works inside the Firefox window. So, you can DND selected text onto form fields, the Search field, etc. It is neat (and quite addictive) to trigger a search by just drag and dropping highlighted text onto the Search extension!

# URL DND: this also works inside the Firefox window. You can, for example, DND an URL by clicking on a link. This is not very useful right now, as it only works inside the Firefox window; but I can see how this could be extended to support drag-and-dropping URLs to the desktop. ;-)

# Image DND: you can DND an image on the navigation toolbar, and Firefox will display that image in (the same) window alone. It would be nice if you could DND images onto the desktop, and ideally allow you to select the translator to use. One thing at a time, Koki, one thing at a time... ;-)

Overall, I think DND is coming along quite nicely. Great work tqh!

Ah, so it works pretty good then, and I just fixed one five minutes before sending it to you.
You havn't had any problems when submitting forms? I have on my machine (but maybe it's speedstep related or something).

You warned me that I would probably see crashes, so I mainly concentrated on testing DND. As far as DND is concerned, it worked pretty well.

One more glitch that I noticed on this build: there are no vertical scroll bars.

Some feedback :
+ nice to test dnd !
- ff crashes if dnd from bookmark sidebar
- ff crashes if dnd from history sidebar
- ff crashes if dnd from bookmark manager
- no scrollbar (one or several frames)

If this messages is read, forms input works !

Hmm, even though I've changed a few things in my build I could not reproduce them. Read the DND readme in the zip to activate logging and run from Terminal to give me more feedback.

Late to the testing party

Same experiences as relayed above, including crashes when dragging/dropping bookmarks to rearrange menus (let me know if you need a log or sc). Initially it crashed just when opening the Bezilla blog livejournal page; I deleted my profile, created a clean one and that problem went away.

Only other thing not noted: updating skins doesn't work! click the button on my HaikuFox page and nothing happens. Click the download button onn the Pixelzilla skin ( behind "get more themes" ) and a stream of trash comes in.

Still, great work, great progress. DND to the toolbar works fine here.
