| About: | NLA-Dallas Announces Beyond Vanilla XVII (BV XVII) NLA-Dallas is pleased to announce that Beyond Vanilla XVII will be held September 28 through September 30, 2007 at the Sterling Hotel, on Regal Row in Dallas, Texas. Author and Leather Community Elder, Vi Johnson, will be the keynote speaker for this year’s event and will also be conducting workshops through out the weekend. Complete details and on-line registration can be found at www.BeyondVanilla.org. Beyond Vanilla is a pansexual educational weekend devoted to workshops and demonstrations on BDSM techniques and D/s relationships. These workshops are geared towards individuals whose experience level would be in the novice to intermediate range. Beyond Vanilla is a very popular event that people come back to year after year. In 2001, Beyond Vanilla was the recipient of the Small Club Event of the Year Pantheon of Leather Award. The entire weekend registration is $99.00. The cost of registration at the door will be $110.00 The Sterling Hotel has a special event room rate of $71.00 plus tax. You must contact the hotel by phone (214-634-8550) and advise you are attending Beyond Vanilla XVII to obtain this special rate. There is also a special registration rate for anyone who desires to volunteer. Those volunteer slots are limited so sign-up early. Please see the website for volunteer contact information. The cost of registration permits entry to all of the workshops during the weekend as well as an event run pin. One can purchase separately, a specially designed run T-shirt and Sunday Brunch tickets for a nominal fee. The Sunday Brunch features the keynote presentation by Vi Johnson. Tickets for play parties held during this weekend will only be on sale during the event at the Beyond Vanilla Registration Table at the hotel. They are available to anyone registered for the event or to any current member of NLA-Dallas. The number of attendees for the play parties is limited so be sure to get your tickets early. In addition to the more than 25 workshops being offered, Beyond Vanilla XVII will also feature a Vendors Mart, open to the public for anyone who is at least eighteen years of age. There will be 15 vendors displaying kinky toys, leather goods and clothes as well as other items for sale. A Silent Auction will be conducted over this weekend with wonderful items up for sale. Stay tuned to the website for details on any special items that will be up for bid only being offered at the BVXVII Silent Auction. Beyond Vanilla XVII welcomes back the International Puppy and Trainer Conference (IPTC) for another year. The IPTC offers workshops and demonstrations for all those who love those “human” puppies. Registration for BV XVII entitles you to attend any of the IPTC events. Beyond Vanilla is once again supporting the 3nd Annual boy patrick Memorial Teeter-Totter-a-Thon being held at the event hotel. A Teeter-Totter-a-Thon was organized by the late boy patrick (Patrick Chees) of the Texas Leather Tribe. The event was a marathon teeter-totter ride organized to raise money for local charities. After the passing of boy patrick, the Texas Leather Tribe, friends of boy patrick and community members took on the responsibility for keeping this charity event alive in his memory. In its first two years, the Teeter-Totter-a-Thon has raised over $2,000 for Bryan’s House, a local service organization that provides support for children and families affected by AIDS. A fun and worthwhile distraction during the weekend, please stop by, make a donation and take a ride on the teeter-totter. Back by popular demand! A unique feature at Beyond Vanilla XVII is the inclusion of a Whip Lounge. Whip enthusiasts have been growing in numbers over the last few years and this is a place where all can gather to talk whips, exchange tips, relax in a casual atmosphere and crack off a few in a comfortable indoor environment. The Whip Lounge will be open during vending hours and experienced whip handlers will be available for one on one instruction.
