When Holly died, I knew that Cuba would soon follow. They were so bonded that he couldn't live without her. Sure enough, over the last week he's been eating less and less. Yesterday I was only able to get him to eat a little speck of food. He died while I was at work today. I'm not as sad as I would've been if he died of an illness. He really seemed distraught, like he wanted to die. All yesterday he kept laying at the bottom, just looking like he was waiting for death. At least now he doesn't have to go on without his best friend.

Before I knew he was dead I went to Petsmart to price the Eclipse tank I mentioned before. Online it's just a little more than $50... At the store it was $75. @_@ I thought I might look at Petco, even though I knew Petco generally overprices everything... And yeah, it was $85 there, so apparently I'll be buying it online.

While at Petco I noticed that they'd switched to larger containers than their normal little cups. I went to check out the contents... Big mistake. Of course I ended up falling in love with one of them. His fins are ENORMOUS. He appears to be completely healthy. I decided to wait on buying him though, because I wanted to stop by Walmart first and get a bowl to quarantine him in.

And then what happened? Walmart, for once, had bettas I wanted. Adorable little white females like the one [info]___icicle posted about here. How could I pass them up after losing my precious female last week? I looked them all over and picked the only one who didn't seem constipated.

So in the end I ended up with two new bettas and two little bowls to keep them in until I figure out what to do about the Eclipse tank. o_O

First, Hugo, who looks like [info]kittencuffs's Serendipity's twin. (Note: I've had him for a week now, but I wanted to post better pictures of him than last time.)

And now the little Tear lookalike, Lady Amalthea.

And now the new impressive male Prince Lir. (I couldn't get many photos because he refused to move... I think the camera intimidated him.)

And now a weird photo that shows both of the new kids...

I'll miss Cuba. But I'm happy I found two new bettas today. That brings the count back up to four, counting the one that's on his way to America.

i'm sorry about your fish :/ it's really hard to lose them like that, especially when one becomes so attached to the other one.

apparently wal-mart's been getting a lot of white bettas. a few months ago, i picked up a white female betta from there myself and named her luna. they had a black one also, and i wanted to get them both, but... i have enough fish as it is.
i love the name you picked out for her, by the way ;)

prince lir reminds me of one of my other bettas, fernando.

I thought I'd seen a betta in this community before that looked like him, but I couldn't remember who it was... My whole group has dopplegangers in various parts of the country, apparently. ^^;;
