We realize that there are a lot of categories, and we're aware that every category might not receive nominations. In that case, the category would just be left out of the awards. No big deal. We get that some of these are obscure (sometimes bordering on ridiculous) but we didn't want to leave anything out by our doing.



A few notes on eligibility:

Ratings: Categories include all ratings unless otherwise specified. For fics not rated with the typical MPAA system, equivalent ratings (teen, adult, etc) are acceptable.

Length: Short fic is defined as any fic 999 words or less. Epic fic is defined as having 10,000 words or more. Stories of 1000-9,999 words are eligible for the other categories. To be more specific, ALL stories nominated for anything other than the Best Short, Best Epic, or Best WIP need to be between 1000 and 9,999 words, give or take 100 words.

Crossovers: Crossovers are eligible for "Best Characterization" and "Best (Character)-Centric" fics and, obviously, the Best Crossover Fic categories. Because of the large number of Supernatural/Heroes crossover fics, crossovers have been divided into Supernatural and non-Supernatural categories.

Peter, Claire, and AUs: AUs in which Peter and Claire are not biologically related are not eligible for the Best AU Fic category; instead, there are two special Peter/Claire (Unrelated) categories, divided by rating, for fics that are AU in the sense that Nathan is not Claire's biological father and Peter and Claire are not biologically related.

To nominate: To nominate a fic or fics (remember, you can nominate up to five stories per category), either comment to this post (comments are screened) with the subject line "nominations" or e-mail your nominations to bestofheroes@gmail.com, again with "nominations" in the subject line.

Please make sure that you check the word count of the fic you're nominating, and place it in the correct category. You can find guidelines about length above. If the author has not provided a word count in their header, it is very easy to ascertain the word count by copying and pasting the fic into a Word document or other text editor and viewing the statistics.
