Although quarterturn and I really enjoyed doing this last year, our fannish interests have diverged and "real life" has taken over. Neither of us has any interest in running bestofheroes again.

That being said, we would both be thrilled if someone else wanted to take up the mantle, so to speak. Anyone interested in taking over bestofheroes for awards in 2008 and beyond is welcome to email me at hebrew [dot] hernia [at] gmail [dot] com.

You are all welcome to heap abuse upon me, I richly deserve it considering how ridiculously belated these are. But here they are! They're fairly simple, and I know, considering how much time it took me to make them they should be works of art that can simultaneously rub your feet/cook your dinner/bear your children/cure cancer. They're not, but I do hope you enjoy them, and congratulations again!

If there are any mistakes, feel free to point them out and I'll fix them up today. I suggest you save the graphics to your own webspace/LJ space if you want to keep them or post them, as I'll probably be deleting them at some point in the future.

Hey all, just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about the awards for the winners, they're still in the works. I do not currently have access to my personal computer, so I have none of the programs/graphics/capabilities I need to complete them. Hey, guys. I know you're probably anxious to see the winners-- and I'm anxious to post them! But I'm currently on vacation out of state, mooching off of someone else's wireless, and Jess is unavailable. I am doing my damnedest to finish the coding tonight so I can post the results, but I'm not on my wireless network and I don't know how long the signal will hold out. We realize that there are a lot of categories, and we're aware that every category might not receive nominations. In that case, the category would just be left out of the awards. No big deal. We get that some of these are obscure (sometimes bordering on ridiculous) but we didn't want to leave anything out by our doing.

Welcome to the suggestion post for bestofheroes! As both of the mods here are fairly new to fanfiction awards, we thought that in the interest of making this community run efficiently and smoothly before, during, and after the awards, we'd open up a post for suggestions.

So what we're asking of you, whether you plan on participating in this particular fanfiction awards community or not, is to tell us your experiences with other fanfiction awards - what you liked, what you didn't like, what you thought could be improved upon, what you think would have made it more fun for everyone. Make it as short as one sentence or make three comments full. Any advice you've got to offer, we'll be happy to read.

Obviously there are going to be opposing viewpoints as to what makes fanfiction awards "good" and "bad", and we're not going to be able to please everyone. But we will take into consideration every piece of advice we get, and will try our hardest to use each suggestion that best serves the interests of everyone participating.

A few questions that you can use as a jumping off point:

- What did you like best about the previous fanfiction awards you participated in/watched unfold?
- What did you like least about the previous fanfiction awards you participated in/watched unfold?
- What one thing would you have done differently if you had been in charge?

You've found Super Heroes: The Heroes Fanfiction Awards!

ABOUT:

Super Heroes: The Heroes Fanfiction Awards are exactly what the name indicates: awards that seek to honor super contributions to the Heroes fandom in a wide variety of categories, with the added benefit of keeping the fandom active during the summer hiatus. Super Heroes is all about spreading the love; negativity in any form will not be tolerated.

Super Heroes: The Heroes Fanfiction Awards is created, moderated, & maintained by hebrew_hernia and quarterturn. Credit also goes to shelbecat for creating The Citrus Awards (citrus_awards), the fanfiction awards for The O.C. upon which The Super Heroes Fanfiction Awards are based. bestofheroes's graphics were created by quarterturn.

HOW IT WORKS:

Basically, everyone nominates a story for each category, hebrew_hernia and quarterturn tabulate the data, and the five stories that receive the greatest number of nominations for a category will be the official nominees for that category. Then everyone votes on the nominees to determine the winners.

Nominations will occur during a week-long window sometime after the season finale. They can be submitted by emailing bestofheroes@gmail.com or submitting a (screened) comment to the official nomination post. Then a week after nominations close, the voting window will open and remain open for two weeks. After voting, quarterturn and hebrew_hernia again get to tabulate some data, and will announce the winners, hopefully within a week.
