Today on a NYC Freecycle list...
Im looking for some cat scratching posts that have not been used (gently used ok). I just got new sofas and dont want my kitties scratching them up. Possibly could use Cat cubes for them to play in also. AND still looking for a cat carrier. I live in the [somewhere in Brooklyn] area. Please email me if u can spare any of these items. You just got new sofas, but you can't afford the things you need for your pets? Even at pet stores, scratching posts are about $15.
She's posted multiple wanteds for cat carriers. They come up nearly daily, and I've found several on the street on trash day with nothing wrong with them! Maybe I'm over-reacting, but this just rubbed me the wrong way. |

Suite vs. Suit
A suite (pronounced suh-weeet) is a group of things forming a collection, such as a "bedroom furniture suite".
A suit is an ensemble of of two or more matching outer garments; jacket, vest, pants, etc...
You can wear a suit and hangout in your suite. Whatever suits you is sweet.
Looks like I'm not the only one fed up with the idiots who keep offering "living room suits" and such.

Background: I'm in Maryland. We just had 29 inches of snow dumped on my city between Friday morning and Saturday night, with the snow falling non stop in that time period. I thought my inbox would get a break from the several digests of begging that tend to clog it. I was half right, in that the digests apparently didn't post for Friday. But come Saturday, they came flooding in. Names have been removed to protect the stupid, but time stamps remain.

I have a 3yr old, he has a toddler bed, but he's a big boy and is refusing to sleep in his bed until he gets a "big boy bed" so I am stuck with him in my bed right now. PLEASE help me...lol. WANTED: Valentine's Decor
Hi Everyone,
My church group is having a Valentine's Day Dinner and dance. In order to keep costs lower, I was hoping to look on here and maybe find some items you may have that you don't need or are willing to part with that we could use to decorate:
~ Disposable plastic table cloths (pink, white, or red)
~ Valentine's dishes, candy holders, figurines, etc
~ Decorative paper or decorated hearts
~ Hershey's kisses (that you don't want laying around the house because you're trying to keep your new year's resoltion ;) lol)
~ Napkins & Plates (pink, red, or white or heart decorated)
~ Green floral tape and wire (to make hershey kiss roses)
~ Floral rose leaves (for hershey kiss roses)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Preferred pick up is in Frederick city, but can travel to get supplies if need be. Thanks so much for taking the time to look....
This seems to be a newish trend on my list. Church groups and other social groups have been hitting up the list with lists of all the items they need to set up their dances/fundraisers/etc. |

My husband has needed a new amp for months. The cheapest he could find is $200. So...he's saving for it. I can guarantee that if he had a working one that he didn't need, he'd be swapping it for other equipment.

Apologies in advance for staying off topic. (As amends, I have an in-box full of lulz just waiting for sorting and posting.)
Next week I'm doing a presentation on Freecycle for my Rotary Club, primarily because I think Freecycle is a cool concept, despite the lapses of some members that end up on this site.
Speaking of those lapses, I'd like to include some of the very best ones for comic relief. Does anyone have any faves they'd be willing to direct me towards? I have searched some of the archives but I realize I may miss some true gems if I don't happen to stumble across the right entry.
I'd also like to learn how to properly do a 'cut' before I post my current collection of outrageous wanteds, but I haven't been able to locate the instructions.
By way of apology for straying off-topic, here are two from my current collection:
WANTED - Small Vehicle - CITY and surrounding areas
Single, female on limited income with health issues seeks small vehicle in good running order that is fuel efficient.
Gosh, the only spare, fuel efficient, good-running - but not good-stopping - small car I have available is a Toyota...are you sure you want it? :-)

Wanted: Girl's Birthday items especially princess

What's the best way to ask for something?
Here are some tips to good ways to ask for something... .
Using the word *Please* - is good,
using *Please Help* - is not.
Using *I am in need of" - is good,
using "Desperately Needed"- is not.
Keep it simple *I am in search of a refrigerator, mine is broken" - is good,
using a sob story *I am in desperate need of a fridge because my auntie is sick and my brother got herpes and we're flat broke and my children are starving because the jelly went bad...* - you got it - not so good.
I know these may seem like silly little things, and they are. Pleading for items is not needed, nor is allowed. Just include the simple facts when asking for an item. More often than not, long exaggerated stories are ignored, while simple requests are considered.

I do not have transportation but willing to walk up to 7 miles to pick up

Hi everyone,
I am currently in my final year at uni and am writing my dissertation but I struggle with two problems that needs just one solution. I am using an old Dell pc, which works fine, but the monitor is so big (depth wise) that the space for the keyboard is not big enough. This also means that the monitor is too close to the keyboard, and as such too close to my face, which in turn hurts my eyes, because I cant push it back enough to create a comfortable distance between me and it. It is also so heavy that it makes the desk creek! Does anyone have a flat screen monitor that I could have please? It would be such a relief and might prevent further procrastination!
