I reallly love Riyoko Ikeda, Rose of Versailles and anything Takarazuka especially Rose of Versailles, Phantom of the Opera and Elizabeth.
I have been searching high and low, does anyone know where I can download any clips with Rosalie and Oscar in Rose of Versailles (Takarazuka)? I have a dvd but it's the Oscar and Andre version so no Rosalie love.
I tried asking around Takarazuka communities, but no luck yet!

hello everyone! 'tis the season, and i come bearing many gifts ;)
first, let me just say i am so happy to see this community is still so active! please don't hesitate to post something if you've been lurking a while, people are very friendly here and happy to share the rose of versailles love (or heck, anything riyoko ikeda related -- e.g. orpheus no madou, oniisama e)
second, have you guys all heard about BeruBara Kids?
it's a comic series by Ikeda-sensei herself with (basically) chibi forms of the characters we know and love, (gently) poking fun at rose of versailles. i believe most of the comics were published online behind a pay wall, but in the past few years these comics have been printed into some really lovely hardcover books. thus far there are four and you *can* buy them on amazon.co.jp.
Bijou Blade has just begun translating these adorable comics into English -- you can read several of her translation at her site and take a look for yourself, if you haven't seen BeruBara Kids yet. she has done six translations thus far. http://bijoublade.com/berubara-kids
it's super, super cute and the comics are just a delight for any berubara fan. please support Bijou Blade as she takes on this project!
i also recently bought all four volumes from amazon.co.jp myself about two weeks ago. it was rather expensive, but still less than what these are going for on ebay. amazon.co.jp does ship internationally but yeah, it's expensive. but for me it was worth it.
i've scanned a few of my favorite comics thus far to share. they're in japanese (i lack Bijou Blade's translation skills!) but you might enjoy them anyway. some of the comics spoof specific points in the berubara manga, while others are like fanfic of the characters in new places (like modern japan!) -- and think of it, it's by riyoko ikeda herself, so that makes it... canon? XD
these images are PNG format and rather large dimensions, so i am going to link them and not embed them.

third, for folks who are familiar with the takarazuka berubara and All That It Encompasses, comedian yamazaki hosei recently did a *hilarious* sendup of the takarazuka show and all of its tropes. (the guys in the audience are DownTown, the popular comedy duo.)
the full show is on youtube -- you need to know some japanese to get some of the jokes, but most are self-explanitory. i thought these were a total hoot, hopefully you guys will find them funny as well XD

fourth, have you guys heard the ANIMETAL cover of "Bara wa utsukushiku chiru"? it's here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-bWCf5YVWY -- i think it is my favorite cover thus far, but i do love me some power metal!
fifth, i have no idea how i hadn't heard of Kodemari's amazing fanart until now, but somehow she has eluded me until recently! her work is jaw-droppingly good, it looks like official manga art!

another great fanart site i found is Donau's Berubara fanart page. her comics are really, really funny, and i love how she calls Girodelle "Gerocchi"!

sixth (and last for now!), i dug out my french translation of the manga and have been doing a bit of scanning. specifically i've been trying to pay attention to the bits of character art that riyoko ikeda would beautifully squeeze into the margins of pages or on title pages.
i've only barely begun scanning the pictures, but a few items are behind the cut just for you guys! :D

i also just ordered the berubara pachinko dvd and the 1970s guidebook from ebay (i've been busy!), when those arrive, you can expect screencaps and scans galore :) the latest pachinko game has some seriously lovely art, like what i'm using for my icon, for example!
(and the remake movie is still in planning/production as of january 2009. i am keeping an eye out for updates!)

This is not exactly the community for it, but I'd like to share the artwork from Riyoko Ikeda's "Orpheus no Madou" artbook. The Orpheus no Madou Album came out last year, and it's an extensive reference to the manga, with character biographies and an interview with the artist herself. I've only scanned the colored pages, but if you have specific requests, let me know.

Anyone know where you could download episodes of Rose of Versailles? I'm starting to doubt that it'll ever be translated in English and distributed by any of the big anime companies and I would really like a copy of the show for my own collection.

Hello everyone!
With this post, I'd like to introduce myself to this community. I discovered RoV about a week ago and have devoured the anime ever since. The manga, sadly, exceeds my financial limits, though I have read what kind souls have made, ahem, available.
RoV is my first ever venture into the wide world of anime/manga, and I find it all rather fascinating and am looking forward to discussion.
Being the little nerd that I am, I also brought a teeny tiny ficlet. There are no warnings: no naughty words, no naughty things. The pairing is unrequitted Oscar/Girodelle. I would be forever grateful for any criticism you might want to shoot my way!

So, has anyone else seen this video? It's relatively new to youtube, but I'm uncertain whether or not it has been around other places on the internet for a while.
So, is this video official? I can't read a darn word, so I'm uncertain whether or not this is a fanvid. If it's a fanvid, it's really well-made, and if not... well, I hope that certain movements I saw aren't really going to be in the movie. Sometimes, it feels like the characters glide rather than walk. But, either way, I'm really excited!!
GRAGH, when is it going to be released? You hurt me deep, Toei, you really hurt me deep (but I'll still forgive you once the movie is released).
